CHICAGO GANGLAND INSTRUCTIONS

Object-
     The object of Chicago Gangland is to have the strongest gang on
the streets. To do this you must offer protection to the storeowners of
different blocks, buy moonshine operations, and be fierce with your
opponents.

                            Main Menu

Quit to the BBS-
     Saves all game files and returns you to the BBS

Shootout-
     This command allows you to attack anyone's gang who is at the
same block that you are at. After selecting this command you will be given
a list of all ganglords at your block, you then type in the name of the
ganglord that you wish to attack. Both yours and your opponent's gang will
be shown with three selections: Return to continue, K to Kill and Q to
Quit. If you select Return one round of the attack will occur and you will
be able to see the results, you may continue to hit Return to view each
round or make another selection. If you select K then the entire fight
will transpire without you making any more selections (Caution: when you
select K you CANNOT stop the fight either). Finally if you select Q then
you have run from the fight and can continue to make the rest of your
moves. If you defeat another ganglord then you will gain control of his 
moonshine operations for your efforts.

Offer protection to the storeowners-
     When you make this selection you need to be at a block that is
currently not under protection. After making this selection you will be
asked to how many gangmembers that you would like to leave. You can leave
all of your gangmembers if you wish but it is not recommended. At the
beginning of each day you will recieve your protection money for that
previous night. As long as you protect that block you will continue to
receive protection money. You earn $200/day per block protected.

Change the amount of protection at this block-
     With this command you can add or subtract the amount of
protection you are leaving at the current block.

Hit the protected block of another gang-
     This command allows you to attack the protection of the current
block that was left by another gang. Your gang and your opponent's
protection will be shown with three selections: Return to continue, K     
to Kill and Q to Quit. If you select Return one round of the attack will  
occur and you will be able to see the results, you may continue to hit    
Return to view each round or make another selection. If you select K then 
the entire fight will transpire without you making any more selections    
(Caution: when you select K you CANNOT stop the fight either). Finally if 
you select Q then you have run from the fight and can continue to make    
the rest of your moves. If you defeat your opponent's protection then the
block is free for you to offer protection to.

Move to another block-
     After selecting this command you will be prompted with the word
North. Enter a number between 1 and 25 then you will also be prompted with
the word East, again enter a number between 1 and 25. The numbers you
enter are the streets that you want to go to. For example if you first
enter 6 then enter 11 you will move to the block at the corner of sixth
North street and eleventh East street. Moving to First North and First 
East will put you at The Southside Pool Hall, this is explained further 
on in the instructions.

Gangland Scores-
     This selection will display the top ten ganglords and their
scores.

Chicago Daily News-
     This will display the last seven Chicago Daily Newspapers
beginning with the current edition.

Instructions-
     Well you figured that one out!

Your Statistics-
     This will display all of your current statistics.

           (Pool Hall located at 1 North, 1 east)
                             &
                 The UnderWorld Casino Menu
            (Casino located at 25 North, 25 East)

Move-
     Exactly like the move command under the main menu.

Hire new Gangmembers-
   (Gangmembers can be hired at The Pool Hall or The UnderWorld casino)
     This selection is to hire new gangmembers from the thugs hanging
out at the pool hall or Casino. The price for hiring a new gangmember is
randomly determined when you first make this selection. After making this
selection the price to hire them will NEVER go down for the remainder of
your turns.

Gamble at a game of pool- (Available at the Pool Hall only.)
     This selection allows you to gamble at a game of pool with one
of the thugs hanging around. Be aware that these "gentlemen" are spending
their day here and are good players.

Buy a moonshine operation-  (Available at the pool Hall only)
     There are several enterprising men here who are willing to sell
you an available operation. Moonshine operation cost $5000 and earn
$500 per day.

Play a hand of Blackjack- (Available at the Casino only.)
     Sit at a table and play Blackjack one on one with the Underworld
dealer. You can win a lot, or lose a lot! $500 max bet.

Try the slot machine- (Available at the casino only.)
     Take a pull on the slot machine! Win up to 3 times your bet!
$500 dollar max bet.

Quit to the BBS-
     Saves the current game statistics and exits the game. NOTE:When
quitting from the pool hall a new location for you will be randomly
determined.
