TITLE:THE FORBIDDEN ARTICLE - WHO WANTED TO HIDE IT? PALETTE:0223 088a 0978 08ba 3 THE FORBIDDEN ARTICLE 2 Truth revealed by Macno The article that follows was written 10 months ago. It comments some strange happenings in the diatribe 2RAW-Upstream1, the attacks, the silences, the allusions, the psicological war. It evidences the first flames of the universal Mag Wars that exploded some months ago, when strong mags like 2Propaganda1, 2Compass 1and2 421 started to consider the leading duo at their reach. The article was sent to2 The Ripper 1who was preparing the come-back of a glorious mag of the past, 2Freedom Crack1. Everything seemed ready for the new issue but something got wrong. First The Ripper joined 2Polaris 1 and he decided with his new mates to make a fusion of Freedom Crack and2 The Outer Limits1, Polaris' own mag. The new staff started to prepare the new issue of the mag where this article was intended to be published. Months passed and nothing happened, The Ripper was mysteriously compelled to leave the scene for various months, most of the Polaris members joined 2Banana Dezign1, the new mag (probably a re coded issue of The Outer Limits with The Ripper as one of the main editors) found further unexpected problems and all the articles written and gathered became outdated. 2Something or somebody has stopped the release of The Outer Limits. Something or somebody, maybe, had stopped the publishing of the article you are going to read, which, in a slightly different version, had been previous sent to another VERY important mag and refused. Is there something forbidden in its contents? Who has practically compelled The Ripper to give up with his mag? Who has wanted to impose the silence on its truths? As you can read now, this article talks about very dangerous and taboo matters, the 2 Masters of the Scene1, the Priests of the Scene, the beginning of the Mag Wars. Maybe something in it could not be seen by the public? We want to dare, we want to publish it in its entirety. After months of scandalous hinderings every scener can finally read it and judge it with his own mind. We don't know if this move will cause us some problems, maybe these are just paranoid fantasies, we sincerely hope so, the Masters, if they exist (I have doubts about their real existence), seem more dangerous than expected. Maybe they have been the real responsibles of the Mag Wars and they have wanted to stop immediately an article that could obstaculate their plans. He it is then, the forbidden article, the one for which two mags and various sceners were eliminated... 3 UPSTREAM'S ATTACK TO RAW'S SUPREMACY 3 THE NEW PRIESTS OF THE SCENE 3 A SCENOLOGY DOSSIER One of the hottest and most difficult scenology field is the study of the Masters of the Scene, the hidden persons who control and direct the scene's life. We still don't know much about them, someone has suggested that they don't exist, that there could be just one man behind everything, that it's the scene itself which unconsciously influences itself. The theories are various and up to now they are just suppositions. Nevertheless it's sure that, like in every other field, there are persons in the scene who try to have more influence and power. We can call them the PRIESTS Of The Scene. They are the ones who try to direct and influence the public information and opinion, not from an hidden place, like the Masters, but somehow more evidently and less subtly. Diskmags are the most powerful media to obtain that and to diskmags editors we have to look in order to discover who tries to influence the scene and its members. One of them is surely Lord Helmet, main editor of the most known diskmag on the scene. We have made a deep and documented research about his plan to get himself rid of the Zine spectre and we have found out how, from the first issue of RAW, he has started a slow and successful demolition work, realized completely with issue 6, where the same members of Brainstorm Productions polemize with the old mates of their ex-group. There are, anyway, new forces in the scene willing to take Lord Helmet's place and they are following his same steps in order to catch the supremacy in the diskmags field. Let's take a look at some articles of Upstream 6, later we'll comment them and we will demonstrate that RAW has to be afraid, because new aggressive priests want to break into the Chambers of Power. Slogans: 2We Try Hardest 2When RAW is not enough Editorial by the main editors, Wolfman and Cesium. 2"RAW chose to follow a path when they're now publishing scene-related articles 2only. We think it's a dead end, but it will be exciting to see how they'll 2handle this." RAW pools by Upstream Poll Inc. (The main editors) After some more or less funny invented results they write: 2"Conclusion: Most People Don't like RAW" ... "Conclusion 2: Sorry guys, 2popularity is sinking". Article: "Todays diskmags - An analysis" by Wolfman. 2"Raw is as Lord Helmet himself have said, a kind of scandalmag" ... "Instead of 2their slogan WE TRY HARDER, they should change it to WE PISS ON YOU" (The article is a detached and serious analysis of RAW, Top Secret and Sledgehammer, it hasn't any spandimerding attitude) What do these words contained in different articles mean? Magbox was one of the most promising mags of the new flood, it was climbing fast the charts and its fusion with Upstream has resulted in a sixth issue of superior quality. Wolfman and Cesium know this and know that they can try to reach the charts' Top. The last issue of RAW (6) has been quite a nervous and extremely spandimerda one, following and boosting the usual aggressive style (which, we remind you, is imitated by many other mags), which has impressed more than one commentator. It seems that with this issue Lord Helmet has tried to underline who is the most powerful Priest of the Scene and he has acted consequently, trying to influence the sceners opinions about certain topics in an obvious, evident, way. In other words he has wanted to show who is the strongest. That can be even interpreted as a sign of weakness, as it seems that Upstream's editors find easily new topics and ideas and are receiving a wide response from the scene (just look at their fast charts climbing, they are actually stealing votes to RAW itself). On the other hand we cannot not notice how is insistent the way the Upstream editors refer to the "leading mag". They know that their target is RAW, all the other major scene mags suffer too much of delay's problems, and with RAW they start their match. From the slogans, to the allusive comment in the editorial (just note how they keep the same attitude used by RAW with Zine: 2 "It will be exciting to see...."1 is equivalent to RAW's: 2 "Come on Brainstorm. Keep releasing Zine. We need your 2competition to improve even further!"1), from the irony of the fake poll to the serious analysis, they are all evident signs of how RAW is the point to refer to for them. Something strange, anyway, is happened with issue 7 of Upstream. Here there are practically no words about RAW. The attack towards the major Priest is frozen, maybe in the wait for a reaction from the new issue of RAW. Well, RAW 6 comes and NO reaction takes place. Lord Helmet has decided to ignore the opponents, well knowing that they are the only ones who could disturb his mag's supremacy. What will happen then? RAW seems weaker than before, its releases are always delayed and it has lost some of the impact it had on the scene, also because it has been imitated by many. Its power is still remarkable, just see how they have raised from nothing the tempest against Brainstorm, but this new competitor seems to have all the right weapons, included some of the same weapon RAW has always used. We foresaw a battle between these two mags, made with irony and sarcasm, friendly remarks and serious reviews, satiric comments and jokes, but the last issues of RAW and Upstream have maybe traced a new path: they could just ignore themselves. It could be an interesting and somehow paradoxical solution, which actually probably wouldn't be appreciated by the spandimerda community, but that's another point. The battle will last for some issues, probably, and, if Upstream's possibilities are powerful as it seems, the final result will be very uncertain. The final winner will be new most powerful priest of the scene, it will lead the scene opinion and the tangible sign of that will be the supremacy in the charts. Predictions are difficult, but I suspect that Upstream has more enthusiasm and determination, they haven't already tasted the smell of power. I've seen signs of weakness in RAW, its future is in the hands of Lord Helmet, if he will be bored or will lose interest for the scene, RAW will slowly die, but if he will keep on, trying even harder, finding the motivations that he seems to lack in these days, well, we'll see fireworks and wars, battles and duels. Probably they won't be open, evident or clamorous, its not in the style of the editors, they will live on provocations and low blows. The final winner will just handle the scene. 2Macno/Abnormalia
