I thought we were through with ZINE. But no! The Compass crew gets us back on course again. At least these guys don't treat the scene with any seriousness at all, or do they? 2ZINKFLOID'S (UYANIK) DIRECT THOUGHTS "Mr. Serious" in biz....no phun no surrender (stolen from TRSI!!). Anyway it's done by my friend Disney which means that it is good... But here a top secret info to all sceners... there won't be any future issues of it... bad luck? 2THE ULTIMATE QUOTES FROM THE BLITTER - Where does this Compass lead to? - Dead or alive, dead or alive, dead or alive, dead or alive, dead or ... - Rumours say that british schools would like to use it as a replacement for their dry psychology-books! 2LORD HELMET'S TRUE OPINION Compass has staked out a new direction. At last a mag which try something different, and not only copying the best ones. This mag try to write serious articles about the scene with no gossips. And after my opinion they have succedded. But my question is: Was the Sanity move a smart one? 2NIMROD'S DEFINITION Could give you some pretty sad puns here. 2POSDNUOS' CHARTS CONCERNS It's difficult for me to judge by only one issue. First issue was a promising start, but it's clear that after the loss of a main-ed as MOP, Disney alone will have some problems in running the mag. 3 DISC 2ZINKFLOID'S (UYANIK) DIRECT THOUGHTS Hahaha, just a small shadow from the old "cult" mag, a weak remake "made in hollywood" just missing photos from Tom Cruise.... do so, then I hear the 15 years old kids screaming "vote for DISC" because TOM is so sexy and randy... (love him so.. says Slip...). Nothing more to say, Cracker Journal and Royal Info were much better!! 2THE ULTIMATE QUOTES FROM THE BLITTER - Thank you, now we know how a mag looked like 3 years ago... - The articles seem to be more ancient than the dusty name! - Comeback? I`m still wondering who came back... Definately NOT the fun! 3 GRAPEVINE 2EL LOCO'S AWAKENINGS With the greatest stock of editors, they manage to create a disparaging -absolutely out of the trend- magazine. 3 disks filled with stories about Sussex girls and their sleaziness and stupidness just don't make it, sorry! Never liked their WWF reviews either. Only geeks and dorks do read such stuff. 2ZINKFLOID'S (UYANIK) DIRECT THOUGHTS A unique mag as they take every article in it! Very famous: Stories about never heard before groups... Pazza is a workaholic, seems as he is always hooked on something strange... but one of the few remaining legendary mags from the "golden ages"... 2THE ULTIMATE QUOTES FROM THE BLITTER - Forget all lexicons, if you don`t find it in Grapevine, it simply doesn`t exist! - I think it`s made by outer intelligence with 100 fingers... - Fat, fatter, Grapevine 2LORD HELMET'S TRUE OPINION All the other main editors will here say that this mag contains too much articles about NON-scene etc. I say the same, and I haven't read this mag for least a year. 2NIMROD'S DEFINITION More good articles than many mags, many more bad articles than most mags, more articles than any mag. 2POSDNUOS' CHARTS CONCERNS L.S.D. have developed the most poverful mag-system around. They just prepared 3 disks full of articles some years ago, and with those same old ones they're regularly releasing every new issue. And we have to admit that L.S.D. has found a pretty good way to run a mag that has not equal in index-length and in number of disks. Although they'll easily release an issue per week, as the only thing they have to do is that to change the order of the articles, they keep on releasing every new issue within max 2-3 months. That's what I call "good organization"! 3 HEADLINE 2EL LOCO'S AWAKENINGS When other magazines fail to come up with new inventive articles, Headline blasts them all away with their "friendship-rulez" articles. I looove this magazine! 2THE ULTIMATE QUOTES FROM THE BLITTER - I`m sure they hate RAW! - The managed it to put RAW and SUICID together... - Generally good looking, but where are the real headlines? 2LORD HELMET'S TRUE OPINION Another Norwegian mag popped up recently. I think we already now can say that this mag never will be any major success. The first issue had good design, good music, but as many others mags it lacked of good quality articles. In the second issue this showed even better. 2MOP'S COMMENT It's better to be a good copy than a mere original! This is maybe the new philosophy that is spreading in today's modern disk magazine scene. And the Headline staff, should be quite acquinted with this modern saying. It is not the first time that selected people in the disk magazine scene have shouted, or even accused, Headline of being a cheap RAW copy. This is unjust. Having been able to extract the essential lifely drops from what makes RAW an aestethical appealing magazine, adding their own features, Headline has immediateley captured the attention of the many. But a look doesn't make a magazine good, doesn't it? The first Headline issue was heavily seeded with Dolphin's words. A good dose of So-What? material mixed with the concurrent scene chit chat filled the second issue. Headline is surely a magazine worth it's weight in bytes but if Dolphin doesn't eat more pasta, pizzas and junk food, he'll never get fat enough to reach the colesterol level other magazines seem to have acquinted. The magazine surely has a certain potential, and after the innovations that will be introduced in the third issue, it can start heading straight towards the core of the current magwar. 2NIMROD'S DEFINITION Nice design, but frankly, you can not simply make a diskmag based on telling people to buy AGA machines and publishing articles like "All you want to know about cheese". 2POSDNUOS' CHARTS CONCERNS It's not a bad mag, indeed it's pretty good. The most evident defekt of this mag is in being too much similar to R.A.W regarding the design, and at same time in not being as good as R.A.W. is (or has been?) regarding the contents. I remember the first issue, perhaps the only thing where Headline wasn't copying Spaceballs' mag was the system-configuration on disk...but I'm not even too sure about that. 3 PROPAGANDA 2EL LOCO'S AWAKENINGS Holy smoke! Jumpin' Jesus... what a mag! I just love their "(ed. comments)" which they happen to have 3 times in every sentence. A true "oldies goldies" magazine, that has no self-identity. A "let's do what's been done a 100 times before" mag. I like the way they hide that Razor is behind this mag. :-) 2ZINKFLOID'S (UYANIK) DIRECT THOUGHTS After Colorbird and me set up peace again I think more positive from this mag now, hehe wondering why?? I am never objective hehe... Anyway I don't think that Propaganda is still a winner because I heard a lot of intern troubles about the mag but let's see...it's good! 2THE ULTIMATE QUOTES FROM THE BLITTER - More messages from the editor (!) than from the writer... - THING has just copied OUR menu-system! - Wait for their next issue with the Movement-intro: 600 KB intro, 100 KB advertisements, and last but not least a DISKMAG! 2LORD HELMET'S TRUE OPINION My first impression was: "Shit, How much work laid down in this mag", and they can keep the deadlines as well. The first issues were not that good, but the last one impressed me. Very good articles, good lay-out and good spirit. Certainly a mag for the future. The only drawback are Colorbird who thinks he is a god for the magscene. Calm down Colorbird, right now you are a hardworking man with average capabilities. Good luck for the future, and your wars!! (soon against RAW as well, I guess) 2MOP'S COMMENT Propaganda is a strange magazine. You never know when a new issue is comming. At one time you think it's an Illusion production; in another you believe that Razor will produce the next issue, and after some weeks you hear the news that the sleeping Swedish Gods themselves, will release this magazine? What is Propaganda? Simple statements of facts or policies, the real purpose of which differs from the apparant purpose? What are the editors behind this magazine hiding from us? Do they really have any implications with the Puppet Masters? Propaganda has always confused us with group changes, but this magazine provides the scener with the basic elements he is looking to; a premature death for Sanity, total chaos in Spaceballs, Wolfman's smoking habits, and professionals' views about our scene. The editors do know how to feed the desires of every hungry scener (they even included a title picture of a naked lady!), so after all they know what they are doing. Some sceners have said that Propaganda is better than 42, and more informative than Upstream. Too bad these latter two magazines think the same of Propaganda. 2NIMROD'S DEFINITION A rather serious diskmag. The staff is too fond of the user interface, which surely does not look nice. (Are you trying to get government funds by trying to portray Propaganda as "hypertext multimedia"?) 2POSDNUOS' CHARTS CONCERNS If we should judge a mag by the one-page articles, this mag will probably have no rivals. In fact, if you are one of those guys enjoying the latest one-page thoughts of Colorbird about the scene and the world in general, this is definitely your mag. But if you are looking for a good mag to read, then this is not the one for you. 3 RAW 2EL LOCO'S AWAKENINGS Did I hear revolutionary? Think not! Even though I have to admit that I like the advertisments in RAW, they're so... fulfilling! The scoop-a-doop mag. 2ZINKFLOID (UYANIK) DIRECT THOUGHTS I like it because Lord Helmet is such a good looking guy (you were so sexy at the Denmark Party, a pity that I am not a gay...). Actually it's the leading mag because there is no alternative and it's scene related only, that's important! But they ignore the illegal scene too much - result... it's not that good and promising as it sholud be! Anyway it's one of the few good mags! 2THE ULTIMATE QUOTES FROM THE BLITTER - Really Awfully Written - Read And Withdraw - Ready And Wonky 2LORD HELMET'S TRUE OPINION As a Main Editor of this mag, I can tell you that I am extremely proud of what I've done! I've always done what I believed is the right thing, seldom made compromises. I've put my faith in it! After the military I've had some problems getting myself motivated enough to continue the RAW-saga. But RAW 7 will arrive once before X-mas. Some of the main editors writing in this article will of course use their oppurtunity to slag RAW down. That's alright as long as they tell the truth and not some kind of a propaganda move to make them to the top (Yes, Wolfman, I will read your remarks about RAW)... 2MOP'S COMMENT Is it dead? What has happened to Lord Helmet? These are the only two questions I nowadays hear when the name RAW is being summomed. RAW brought a lot of new theories and ideas in the disk magazine scene. Look at 42 and Headline. Look at Upstream's contents. Look at the general disk magazine scene. If you ask me, I can see Lord Helmet's broad smile painted all over these disk manifestations. If you agree with me, then this sole fact, has made RAW, a magazine that revolutionised the way disk magazines are made. RAW's image will never die. Sceners will keep quarreling and remembering this magazine throughout the next years, while Lord Helmet quietly enjoys his life in frozen Norway. Not bad, when you take into consideration, what other sceners are able to do to be in such a position! 2NIMROD'S DEFINITION Revolutionary Article Writing, Random ASCII Waste, Render After Wanking, and so on. Being one of the guys who helped churn out each bicentennial issue, I guess you will misjudge every least bit what I write, so there. You will read enough about ti here anyway. 2POSDNUOS' CHARTS CONCERNS I never understood what has made R.A.W. leading the charts for such a long time. 3 SUICID 2ZINKFLOID'S (UYANIK) DIRECT THOUGHTS The best one, follower of Cracker Journal and News on Tour, has nothing to do with the old Suicid issues anymore! New main-ed, new coder, new organised TRSI group, what else do you want?? THIS ISSUES WINNER Latest rumours: Macno dropped Abnormalia totally to concentrate more on his job as official SUICID spreader... no Joke - WRITE it in your NEWS and spread it, it's secret... Abnormalia is now a new section in SUICID where different main-ed's talk about their sexual experiences... ("Dear Uyanik! What shall I do, I am main-ed from a weak jungle mag and wanna marry my diskdrive but I think that's forbidden in Austria - could you help me...??") ... Of course I can... send 100 US$ and we start talking on a private basis... 2THE ULTIMATE QUOTES FROM THE BLITTER - Hey, this mag has committed suicide back in 1993! - Yes, you can fill a mag with last-words ONLY... - Using the title tune from "Mig 29 Super Fulcrum" is fun! 2LORD HELMET'S TRUE OPINION What do say, without getting Zinkfloid on my neck? I can say that is a normal mag, which don't surprise you at all. The atmosphere is not too great. But I read it everytime, so it can't be that bad. Let us see what Warhead can do with it! 2MOP'S COMMENT Suicid 6 was the last effort by Zinkfloyd to convince the scene, that this strange world of ours isn't so friendly as everyone wants to paint it. But Suicid's advance didn't stop with that sixth issue, and the probable comeback, this time under TRSI's patronage, looks quite interesting. Suicid has always been the holy home of all spandimerda masters. Whole wars were set up within the magazine. Nowadays though, the overall magazine's tone has changed, and the new editors in charge want to add their name to Oepir Risti, Compass and ROM. Another serious magazine? Will the scene survive this massacre? 2NIMROD'S DEFINITION If flaming by mail would be effective, this mags main editor would probably be the first to know. 2POSDNUOS' CHARTS CONCERNS Although I think Zinkfloid wasn't a bad main-editor, SUICID has always been considered a lame mag, mainly because of the lack of a decent design. According to the new main-ed Shade, the new issue of Suicid will be far better than the previous issues, and I'm really looking forward to see what the new Suicid will offer. 3 THE JUNGLE 2ZINKFLOID'S (UYANIK) DIRECT THOUGHTS Mmh... lamer mag, they just became famous because of insulting me (this sequence from me will last in at least 5 "I hate Zinkfloid" articles...) I can't understand why it should be so good: Difficult question: What do you like in this mag? Answer: The name, the name!! (there must be something good in every mag!). We need people who take themselves as VIP's in the scene.....you know whom to blame??? Hang the main-ed....... 2THE ULTIMATE QUOTES FROM THE BLITTER - Quite OK, but the maineditor BliTTeR seems to have some tomatoes in his eyes! - No, he has Grapevines in his eyes... - Don't cry, the recipes are history! 2LORD HELMET'S TRUE OPINION One of the FEW underrated mags! In each issue they have some brilliant articles about the scene, but also many bad ones. So it's quite varied! But worth a read, and a good chart position! 2MOP'S COMMENT Different doesn't always mean good. But The Jungle has introduced too many innovations in this scene that it must for sure have something good. After the multitasking boastings, the recipies ideas and the CD disk magazine offering, it's time for The Jungle to stun us with another issue. The scene waits in silence. What will they come up with now? Will they feature an interview with Bill Clinton? But The Jungle has never stressed too much about the scene values in it's contents. The Blitter himself had enough balls to admit it. "If I read an article and I'm being entertained, then I won't care if it's about the scene or not" Prophetical words, which I'm not going to oppose. 2NIMRDO'S DEFINITION Should get some better spreaders. 2POSDNUOS' CHARTS CONCERNS It's a good mag, and Blitter is a good main-ed. The only thing on which I'm a bit perplex is their choice of interviewing a lot of unknown guys. I still remember when they had an interview with the Charts-team. Who can be interested in reading the story of 4 italian lamers and of their lame chart? Eurocharts rulez! 3 THE THING 2ZINKFLOID'S (UYANIK) DIRECT THOUGHTS Crazy polish mag with the "I smoke it so" dutch design... it's really doing fine and much better than all those overrated shit mags around... drinkkkkk Vodka and enjoy.... 2THE ULTIMATE QUOTES FROM THE BLITTER - A nice polish thing! - Hey, your loadergame is the best! I boot often just to play this stupid game! - Why the hell do you show the picture of the naked woman sooooo fast??? 2MOP'S COMMENT One THING which I like in disk magazines is the constant sequential use of numbers in relation to every new issue. However THING, the magazine from the Polish Applause, wants to break the rule. One day you get Issue -1, then comes issue 2.5, then issue 7, and more lately issue 15. Are Applause really looking forward to break the disk magazine's charts? The funny THING is that this magazine from Poland also happens to play the chart. Amongst the quite numerous number of articles and interviews, the charts are the THING that makes THING shine more. The overall design is another THING worth mentioning; Got ridden of the boring RAW style inflictions, THING proposes itself as a funny journey through the modern scene world, without pretending to be anyTHING, and without letting itself being involved in the boasting avalanche that has influenced all other magazines. 2NIMROD'S DEFINITION Bl***y mailswapping. Get yourselves on Internet. (OK, OK, perhaps I should have some more contacts, and perhaps be a little active.) 2POSDNUOS' CHARTS CONCERNS It has everything a mag should take care... news, adverts, messages, charts, gallery....but where are the (decent) articles? 3 TOP SECRET 2EL LOCO'S AWAKENINGS The masters of English vocabulary and the inventors of many new grammatical errors. "Me thinks this mag not all good". A fresh breath from Eastern Europe there! 2ZINKFLOID'S (UYANIK) DIRECT THOUGHTS Only mag which has the name and the exact new release date in common... I bet it's dead because Majic 12 is continously falling apart, that's no secret... Zozo is the only one holding his fallen kingdom together but if he is strong enough to keep the TS standard up is negotiated by insiders..... 2THE ULTIMATE QUOTES FROM THE BLITTER - Did you know that they released 30 issues so far? The problem is that more than the half were Top Secret! - Rumours say that Zozo tries to BUY TFG back... - A worldrecord! It`s in the charts for ages, although it`s zineological dead! 2LORD HELMET'S TRUE OPINION I may have critisized Mud for taking many of RAW's ideas. But I know if I had been in his position I would do excatly the same. Mud increased the standard of Top Secret very much, but the former main editor Zozo came back and he has retaken the main editor job. But Zozo will never be able to continue there Mud left (my opinion!) Mud - Good luck with Compass, and don't join the serious Disney style, continue your Top Secret style which I loved to read! 2MOP'S COMMENT It's no secret that Top Secret will be one of the most missed magazines this year round. With TFG the magazine had gained a face lift which the scene appreciated. Now that this man is now longer a part of the editorial force behind Top Secret, the scene can forget all the scandals and reports Top Secret used to introduced. If I look back in time, and into my collection of disk magazines, I can see a very green disk magazine that constantly grew larger and larger, until it expanded enough to fill two disks per issue. An immeasurable achievment if you ask me. The So-What? mania must surely thank Top Secret for having found its initial birth within it's pages. So did the Fillophobia manifestation. Too bad that it's same editors weren't so keen to keep all their findings a secret, and spread these deadly article styles throughout the whole scene. 2NIMROD'S DEFINITION Most famous for its at times incomprehensible English. 2POSDNUOS' CHARTS CONCERNS One of the oldest mags of the scene, and surely one the mags that have MADE the scene in the past years. Unfortunately, TOP SECRET seems have no future, as I heard that the whole staff has been lately engaged by Steven Spielberg, the famous Indiana Jones' director, who wanted them in his sooncoming film entitled "Majic 12". A big loss for the scene, but perhaps a good purchase for Mr. Spielberg! 3 UPSTREAM 2THE RIPPER'S LITERARY CRITIC This issue of Upstream gives us the opportunity to deal about some very obscure points on which a scener who does not possess the tools he needs could find great difficulties to go on. Even the editorial is full of mannerisms and verbal tricks which could generate confusion, so it's better to start. First the beginning. "Hello and welcome to another DEPRESSING issue of the mag you SADLY know as Upstream." Well, why the hell 2Wolfman1 is spandimerding his own work? Is he feeling not well? No way. He's just kidding, he's using sarcasm as an answer to what 42 declared. Infact read what it is written at the end as a "WARNING: Watch out for nasty political propaganda in this 'mag'. We thought we could hide it but even mountain monkeys were able to reveal our evil plans..." And that's the way Wolfman and the other editors try to hide their propaganda. They try to joke about it, but I think we have to be very careful about it. Also because there's a even worst way of trying to shut up 42's mouth. Just have a look at the "S!P DISBANDED" article on which 2Lord Stradth1 is accused to be a "paranoid hypocrates who pretends to be a capable scene-journalist". The dark ages of censorship and violence are rising again. Sceners are warned. 2EL LOCO'S AWAKENINGS Ahh... The samaritans of justice! The protectors of the freedom of speech, the ones who smoke their socks and other funny things. I liked their "We feel sorry for ourselves" editorial in Upstream#9. I feel sorry for them, too. 2ZINKFLOID'S (UYANIK) DIRECT THOUGHTS A mag with two main-eds is not that nice idea as both don't seem to co-operate well but both live in different countries! Upstream is a good follower to Raw with a good potential and sometimes nice ideas! I don't understand why a lot of people offend Wolfman as he seems to be a pretty friendly and nice guy.. Upstream is good but not excellent in that point I suppose from a mag... 2THE ULTIMATE QUOTES FROM THE BLITTER - Very sexy! - Two mags in one, two mained`s in one (???) - What next? Mr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde are not humans? 2LORD HELMET'S TRUE OPINION Wolfman "The Hard worker" of Balance has worked very hard to get his mag to the top. I admire his spirit, and the never-give-up attitude (should wish I could have that myself). Upstream has very good articles, good spirit and deserve a top position. They have become a scandal mag, like RAW and do that quite well! I especially liked the 8th issue containing lot of RAW articles/comments. Everybody likes to read about himself! (also negative stuff.. I DO!) But should I be honest/arrogant I believe that if RAW was released reguarly this mag wouldn't make it to the top! I don't think Wolfman have full control over Upstream. First of all he's just one of three main editors and secondly the coders/the group seems to have something in each Upstream problem. For example Wolfman had VERY big problems with the name change. After my opinion a main editors job is to decide which articles that should be included, and decide the profile of the mag. etc. and not to necesary to write articles. Wolfman seems to think that every person that can write 5 decent articles can be called a main editor. Wolfman: How many real mags can you mention that have MORE than one main editor and mention a real mag where the main editor IS THE MOST ACTIVE writer? The group problem! Maybe Balance is fond of democracy where everybody can decide. My opinion is: Let the main editor decide, and let the others come with ideas. The coder is a coder, and not the man who make the decisions (Perplex is my perfect coder!!) If you now start to think that I hate Wolfman you're wrong. I am sure I will meet Wolfman at this X-mas party, shake hands with him, and we will have a really good laugh together. Although I suspect Wolfman being a bit more serious than me, running around with his notebook and getting the latest gossips. 2MOP'S COMMENT Lacking the possibility to have RAW entertain us with new scandals, Upstream seems to be the only other magazine that is hard enough to fill the scene with new findings about the most liked popular personalities. The latest issue was the kind of manifestation I was personally looking forward; At last the Upstream staff have managed to come up with something worth reading from start to end. Being able to dispone from the services of 3 main editors, Upstream must be better than the rest? Or no? These same main editors know what it takes to impress the scener of the street; known personalities that fight their way against the unjust charts, scan graphicians, sample rippers and most important of all, the new trends in the scene; spandeimerdas and scandals, sometimes in gigantic doses, and sometimes hidden well between the lines. The scene wants more so Upstream is here to give more. The welcome exclusion of the various articles about today's magwar has even made this mag readable, for a humble writer like me. 2NIMROD'S DEFINITION Took what they liked from the RAW recipe, added what they like to call journalistic integrity. Lacks in sarcasms and irony, but is a rather "professional" diskmag. Has the classical label of "the only serious contender to RAW". 2POSDNUOS' CHARTS CONCERNS Without a doubt the best mag, especially when it comes to the number of main-editors. 3 VISUAL INTENSITY 2ZINKFLOID'S (UYANIK) DIRECT THOUGHTS Just a bad clone of Grapevine! Looks like Grapevine, comes from the same country, same language, same style, I bet they get all the minor quality articles from Grapevine (more disks than good articles???). 2THE ULTIMATE QUOTES FROM THE BLITTER - Contrast, Color, Sharpness, Brightness - down! - Grapevine`s little brother is growing... - What about using the diskspare.device? 2NIMROD'S DEFINITION Entusiastic staff... (We all know what sentences like this mean, don't we kiddies?) Some extra 2POSDNUOS' CHARTS CONCERNS1 about 3Eternal1, 3Cemetery News1 and3 Buzz1. 3ETERNAL It will be a good mag, if only Kris will decide to release at least an issue every two years... 3CEMETERY NEWS It's a pretty good mag, but they need more support. And the fact to have all these long delays doesn't helps them in having it. 3BUZZ This is not a mag, but a good medicine to every depressed main-ed. I can certainly recommend Buzz to everyone feeling worried of the lack of interest for own mag. Just try to have a look to Buzz, and I'm sure you'll feel much better. There's no mag worst than this! Of course, read the instructions before taking this wonderful medicine, as although I haven't experimented yet eventual reactions of any kind, it's always better don't take too much of it.
