DOPE OF SPACEBALLS ¾Portrait²: ¢Dope ²/ ¢Spaceballs ¼------------------------------- ¢By²: ¾Magic / Nah-kolor ¢In previous times an interview has been done in alot of ways. In the beginning they were done in a boring kind of way. `Please introduce yourself' `What is your favorite Demo, Musician, Movie' were welknown questions asked in many diskmagazines around. Later on they more became a discussion about subjects which were pretty relevant in that period of time. For example the hacking discussion with Sesium in Raw issue 8. More lately some writers made Close-ups of certain scener's, but those kind of articles still look like an interview in alot of ways. I (Magic) have tried to make a Portrait of a scener, something which is not done before in a diskmagazine I guess. This way you will hopefully find out what kind of person somebody really is, how he thinks about the scene, what kind of ideas he has about several subjects etc. This portrait has been translated into English by me and a friend of mine: Roban of Act. I hope you like this Portrait, and I am sure I will make some more in the future... ..Enjoy !! ... ²- ¾What kind of person is Dope of Spaceballs? ¹I am a person who really works very hard, with to little time for himself. Most of the time I am far ahead of my ideals.. ²- ¾What is it that keeps you awake at night? ¹What keeps me awake is that a few people still haven't recieved their prizemoney from the Somewhere In Holland '95. Everything is taken care of now, but probably some people haven't recieved it because of slow bank transactions. ²- ¾What is your best quality? ¹I think my best quality is that I can do what people expect from me under all conditions, especially concerning Somewhere In Holland. ²- ¾And your worst? ¹I am easily irritated by things that I don't find important but other people do. Especially if they start nagging about those things. ²- ¾It is said that you're very egocentric. Are you? ¹Egocentric? I don't think so, though I am very critical. Both towards myself and towards others. But someone who doesn't know me that good might think of it as being egocentric. ²- ¾Do you have many friends in the scene? ¹No, quality above quantity!! ²- ¾What is your definition of friendship? ¹Someone who you can always turn to and who will do anything for you if necessary. ²- ¾o you believe in God? ¹Not in God from the bible, but I believe there is more between heaven and earth than we know of. ²- ¾What is your goal in the scene.. ¹Once my goals in the scene were fame and glory. Somewhere In Holland was the jumping off-point of my career. It means a lot of work and a lot of professionality, but when something like that is done well, it's a good basis for a career in real life. ²- ¾What is love to you? ¹Almost the same as friendship, maybe in a bigger form, more open... ²- ¾Who give you that? ¹The guys from Somewhere In Holland, who are also my closest friends. ²- ¾What is your worst moment in the scene? ¹The cancellation of Somewhere In Holland 2, that was really like the end of the world and... besides that, things aren't so bad. A bit of a mess in (the old) Lemon. and Spaceballs, you know, ordinary things... ²- ¾What are your greatest moments in the scene? ¹I think they are Somewhere In Holland '95 and the time when I beat Hannibal's dot-routine with mine. (In the SIH '93 invitation Ed.) ²- ¾What else would you really like in your scene-career? ¹Without doubt making Somewhere In Holland the best party ever to excist and that in such a way that it isn't only great for the scene but also for outsiders. The scene isn't just a bunch of nerds, but a group of people with a similar (great) hobby. ²- ¾What does money mean to you? ¹A lot and a little. A lot in the form of proving my career. (outside the scene... achieving... personal...) A little because I don't care about money. If anyone wants to borrow f1.000,- from me, no problem. (Hey hey hey! -ed) ²- ¾What is your motto? ¹Have fun. ²- ¾Choose: Social life or the scene? ¹Social life, absolutely. But I believe they can combine very well, nevertheless. ²- ¾What would you like to say to all (beginning) party-organisers? ¹Think well about what you're doing, don't take any riscs, always make sure you know what you are doing. ²- ¾Can you take criticism? ¹If it's well argumented, sure, I even like criticism! I do try to defend myself, but if it's just, I accept it. ²Please turn page... ¶¶²- ¾Do you have any hobbies besides the scene? ¹I don't know. Somewhere in Holland is work for me, definitely not a hobby! Furthermore I do things I really like. But if you work with computers for about twelve hours a day, then you don't talk about a hobby anymore. ²- ¾Please discribe your hometown. ¹Only one street where everything happens, it lies close to a (big) city called `Arnhem'. My hometown is really a (small) town were people live to go to e.g. Arnhem for their work. ²- ¾People say you really made it in the scene, do you ever dwell on it ? ¹No, I don't, however I'd still like to win the first prize in a demo- competition someday, but these days that isn't so important for me anymore. ¾Thank you very much for this interesting and also very open conversation. If you wish to greet somebody, please take this opportunity to give them your regards here in Buzz. ¹I absolutely want to give my regards to everybody from the Somewhere In Holland organisation, also to RockDaZone/Infect, Fashion/Stb, Clary/Axis, everybody else in Reality, Lizard/Spaceballs,Magic/Nah-kolor/Trsi, Astro/VD, Mount/Polka Brothers, Danny/Spaceballs, Lizardking & Deluxe/Fashion 8, Facet&Supernao/Lemon. and Emiel/Intense. ’
