CREATE ADVENTURE GAMES 2.1 -------------------------- Welcome to this program made by me,Marco A.G.Pinto. CREATE ADVENTURE GAMES is a program written with the marvelous AMOS THE CREATOR (Made by Francois Lionet) and then Compiled. This program is Shareware which means that if you like it or use it a lot you should send me a donation in money of £2 (English money). This small ammount will encourage me to continue my work. If you also want to get the latest version of this program just send me another £4 and you will receive it as soon as it is finished. This last ammount (Update) is valid not only to Europe but also to the Rest Of The World and includes mail expenses and the disk as well. The Shareware ammount only needs to be sent once. After that you will only need to send the Update value everytime you want the latest version. (Don`t forget to tell which version you are using to avoid sending you one you already have). If you want, instead of sending me the £2 of the Shareware you can send me a disk with stuff saved on it(Games,Utilities,Slideshows...anything good.) Just be careful with the disks` quality. If you see that they are forcing the drive(making a lot of vibrations and bottom noises) don`t send them because i don`t want my drive damaged (Not again!) Shareware Value - £2 (Or a disk with stuff) Update Value - £4 My address is: Marco A.G.Pinto Praceta Teixeira Lopes,1,4 Esq. 2745 Queluz (Portugal) IF YOU SEND ME CHEQUES MAKE SURE THEY CAN BE USED HERE! ALWAYS WRITE YOUR ADDRESSES IN READABLE LETTERS. BECAUSE AT THE MOMENT(SINCE V1.0) I HAVE ONLY RECEIVED TWO LETTERS, IF NO ONE WRITES ME I`LL STOP MAKING CONVERTERS SO THAT OLD VERSIONS OF CAG FILES CAN NO LONGER BE LOADED INTO THE LAST CAG`S VERSION. (IT`S NOTHING PERSONAL YOU KNOW...) PS->I am searshing for the addresses of the persons who made ZKICK and KICKIT (Capable of loading ROMS).If anyone knows how i can contact them, please inform me. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Important information about CAG: *) I am planning to make the conditions act in a more flexible way by making them acepts variables. That will be a great hit that will give to my program a great load of power. If you see the demo MOVEGET.CAG you will see that CAG is Improving a lot but to make that turn into real power i need to make the conditions accept variables. With that it will be possible to put picken objects in any part of the inventory without the work which has to be done now. That improvement will only possibly be made in the Summer holidays because i don`t have much free time at the moment. That improvement will also make use of small machine code routines. *) The command PAUSE now pauses for N ths of a second and not for N Seconds. Now each 50th (60 Usa) corresponds to 1 second. The convertor will convert this commands to the new format. (Only files below V2.0 need to be converted) *) CAG files before V2.0 use a diferent internal structure from the ones used now.To deal with that there is a convertor in the option LOAD DATABASE which does the job. *) On versions of CAG above 1.2 the objects of a room are no longer described automaticly when you enter a room or describe it. Now if you want objects to be described when you enter a room or describe it you must put in one of the lines of the first conditions: ? ?: Listobj This was needed because without it CAG was a bit limited to text games (just one mode of listing the objects of a room). *) Also if you used CAG before 1.3 you will see that the text editor is now faster than it was(thanks to a load of headaches re-writing the code). *) CAG has some limitations which can be diminuted in future versions. Even if i tried to make all the routines as fast as i could the total speed of CAG can only be considered average. This because it is not made in pure machine code.Pure machine code would at least double the total speed of it. I know that after compiling my program it became a "little" faster than it was,but nothing compares to good old pure machine code. *) In the Text Editor(Where you Edit/Create ROOM DESCRIPTIONS,SYSTEM MESSAGES and MESSAGES) to work at full speed try to write always in the end of the text or not having more than 79 chrs per line(a line has 80 chrs). With this CAG wont need to scan the entire text avoiding a small pause. Notice that the speed of the second thing is only now possible due to changes made in CAG 1.3 which improved the code in that routine. *) There is a bug in the CONDITIONS which makes lines disapear. This bug is harmless.Just pass the cursor over the line to make it appear. I already know where the problem is but that routine is accessed by more routines and changing it would affect the others. *) As you`ll see some times CAG will pause when you add or remove things from the database. The bigger the contents of the database, the bigger the pause will be. You should only worry about this once the size of your program becomes loads of large(maybe more than 200k). This happens because everytime you add or remove things,CAG has to reloca- te what is inside the database, and the bigger the things that are inside it the bigger will have to be the relocations. For example, imagine this is the database and that the letters are screens: So we have: -D -C -B -A Now if you decieded to remove screen B the things above it would all have to be relocated down: -D -C -A Don`t worry about lack of speed in these routines because in CAG1.3 i came up with a new tecnic to relocate things. On versions before 1.3 i was only using COPY X,Y TO W in the relocating down routine and the other was made using FOR/NEXT loops but now i am also using that command in the relocation up routine, transfering the stuff first to a buffer (10000 bytes at a time) and then from the buffer to the destination. This new method gave to this routines over 90% speed but it is not as fast as the relocating down routine. *) CAG doesn`t accept samples yet(Even if there is a option for them). *) If you want musics to be accepted by CAG they must be SOUND TRACKER/NOISE TRACKER modules up to version ....2.0 (!????!) If you use MED remember that it has an option to save the musics as sound tracker modules(I think!).(cool eh?) *) I was also thinking about making a command to play ANIMATIONS.The problem is i don`t know the structure of an IFF ANIMATION file.Because of that i can`t make my program accept animations. If anyone knows their structures please inform me. *) You can now use BOBS and ICONS and can also animate BOBS. The BOB`s animations are made using AMOS` own AMAL instructions which not only are described in the manual because to do that i`d have to describe some parts of the AMOS` manual and i don`t know if that is legal. (i`ll have to contact Mandarin first.) This means that to be able to use the AMAL commands you must have AMOS to know which commands are accepted. *) I was planning to make an option to use an effect which is used in some games but that wasn`t possible. The effect i am talking about is displaying the name of the objects in a certain screen coordinates everytime the mouse passes over the objects. This was not only possible because i was`t able to put AMOS to detect colligions between the pointer and the BOBS. Anyone knows how to do it? *) One other thing i wanted to do with BOBS,was to give them movement if a person wish them to have. There are loads of adventure games which use this thing not only to animate objects but also characters and to make those characters walk to a certain areas of the screen just by clicking there with the mouse. Other effect i saw in some games was the ability to pass characters behind other objects such as trees,or making them stop when collided with certain obstacles. Anyone knows how to do it? IF YOU HAVE ANY IDEAS TO NEW VERSIONS OF THIS PROGRAM OR ANY BUG REPORTS YOU CAN SEND THEM TO ME SO THAT I CAN SEE IF IT IS POSSIBLE TO ADD/REPAIR THEM ON NEXT VERSIONS OF CAG. Hello Cracker,Trying to fuck my program? Fucking yourself in the ass isn`t enough?
