                          NEWSFLASH INTRODUCTION

If you are a new reader then you have to know a few things:

- Most of the material is compressed with help of Powerpacker Pro. To 
  decrunch fonts or other datafiles please use the decrunch tool in 
  the background options menu. To decrunch executable files you have 
  to use Powerpacker itself. There is a shareware version (V2.3B) and 
  a commercial one (V4.0 -- +/- US$30.00). If you want to decrunch any
  libraries/devices on this disk then this is only possible with the 
  commercial version. If you want to install this crunched libraries
  and devices on another disk please make sure you put the following
  commands in your startup-sequence and c-directory:

  loadpplib - installs the Powerpacker library if you have Kick V1.3
  pploadseg - changes the loadvector so decrunch libraries/devices
              will be decrunched before using them.


- If you have problems loading big demos/songs then try the following:

  - switch off external diskdrives or harddisk
  - boot disk B directly to save chipmemory
  - buy a memoryexpansion (which you will need in the future anyway)

  NTSC users can have problems with some of the material that will open
  PAL screens or use special PAL tricks. Sorry for this but there is no
  cure for it because of the hardware differences. Please keep in mind
  that Newsflash is produced in Europe where PAL is the normal standard.
  We will do our best to avoid PAL-only material but sometime the material
  is just to good to ignore it. Thanks for understanding......

- If you have a legal copy of Newsflash in Europ/Australia you can check
  this very simple: there will be an original saleslabel on your disks 
  with an unique serialnumber. Please mention this number if you contact 
  us in case of questions or problems. So we know you are a legal user..

- You want to dump textfiles on your printer and you have problems doing
  it from Newsflash itself ?? Just try the following:

  > Make a backup copy of the Newsflash maindisk.
  > Copy from the disk your normally use for printing text (workbench,
    wordprocessor etc etc) the following files to your Newsflash disk:

  Directory DEVS/Printers/ >> Name of your printerdriver you normally use
  Directory DEVS           >> System-configuration
  Directory DEVS           >> Printerdevice


  If there is not enough space then just delete one of the utilities in
  the PROG or MUSIC directory.

  Then reboot Newsflash and try again. If you still have problems then
  decrunch the textfiles using the PPD tool in the backgroundoptions 
  menu of Newsflash or use Powerpacker itself and copy them on your 
  normal printing disk. You will then have the original ascii files 
  which can be printed with the majority of wordprocessors and texteditors.
