------------------------ Who Hands-On Matrix ------------------------- The all new WorkBench 2 compatible wHom_II is here, what do you mean the last version worked to. Well I'm sittin here with my last pint of the morning as the new extended Video View terminates, today could be a good day. It is about 11 months since the near legendary 'wHom the concept' and here is probably the final version of wHom II barring bug fixes and data updates. What happened since then ? Well recently Caves and Robot are shinning in VHS glory, some Who has been rediscovered, Kolchak appeared and BBC2 has someone who cares. By the end of the week Truckers, the duplication of Ms May, Dr Who, Thunderbirds etc .. will all have had their windows in our lives. Quantum leap continues its erratic run, Press Gang becomes more surreal the New Twilight Zone gets a few showings a week. Tour of Duty notches up a few levels, Friday the Thirteenth the series and Alfred Hitchcock presents all crop up in the dawn hours beloved by the tWins. In the next month Sapphire and Steel, Space 1999, animated Star Trek, S3 Blake's 7 and of course Best of Both Worlds are being released. Don't you just want a laser disc. Soon more vintage Who, Red Dwarf (1 or 2 or 4), Dwarf 5 on T.V., Robin of Sherwood series 3 in 3 double boxed sets (c.f. a tape an episode), T.V. heaven begins on Channel 4, another HitchHikersGuide book, StarTrek VI and more chances to see Bogus Journey. By the end of the year the stories converting the curly toothed Doctor into the young vunerable ones will have been released, along with the famous last lines of a rebel/hero/idealist 'Have you betrayed me ?' thud !. Highlights of the wHom development period are many and include, the size of the credits on Young Merlin, the showing of 'High Ground', the Panoptican Saturday night Boozathon, being told to shut up during Battlestar Galactica when one mentioned the mechanical Dagget/Daggit was played by a chimp, being told to shut up generally, seeing the chimp is still not mentioned in wHom, and M.O.M.I. many, many times. Oh yes and at 18:00 this evening Yesterday's Enterprise is being screened, it's going to be a good day, today ' ... on that you can rely .. In order to read the document file, or use the NTSC version the files 'ppmore', 'IconX' , 'Run' and 'Cd' as given in the 'c:' directory should be made available. The icons are currently set to a path of ':c/', i.e. wHom looks for the files in the c: directory of the disk it is on. This can be configured to your own tatses using the Workbench utility 'info'. Options ------- wHom_II /s= /d= /l /r /a Running wHom the PAL version (normal bog standard English mode) --------------------------------------------------------------- wHom can be run by opening the drawer 'wHom' by double clicking on it then by double clicking on the 'wHom_II' icon. The first /d takes priority i.e. finding the same data on both disks, the second reference is ignored. This is to allow simple usage of updates. Info ---- Running wHom with the /L qualifier prints out helpful ? status messages. wHom screen and programme selection ----------------------------------- When wHom starts the programme gadget appears with all the possible programme choices. To select one double click on it. There is a default choice that is highlighted and only needs to be clicked once. Next the screen gadget appears with all the possible screen choices.
