Dear user of 'SoundSystem 2.0', Here follow some instructions for this excellent program. First I shall give you some notes; please read them carefully, coz the performance of the program will be less than usual. Note 1: If you run this program on a computer with more than 512 Kb internal memory, the program will run perfectly when it has has been loaded in fast-mem. Note 2: If you have only 512 Kb, you have a small problem. This version of SoundSystem 2.0 has been crunched. Although the program will will run perfectly (as usual), it is better to decrunch the program. Why ? It will save approximately 10 Kb of chip-mem. And owing to the 10 Kb extra mem, you have more chances of founding any SoundTracker song! Note 3: 'SoundSystem 2.0' has been crunched with PowerPacker 2.2a. So if you want/need to decrunch the program use the decrunch- option of PowerPacker 2.2a. нннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннн Now I shall tell you something about the window. * The upper part of the window has different purposes. <1> When you had choosen the 'Search Gadget' it is used as an ASCII dump from the allocated pointer. The first 31 gadget contains the names of the samples found. The utmost right and utmost down gadget of the upperscreen contains the name of the allocated song. By the way these gadgets are not activated in this mode. <2> When you had choosen the 'Replay Mode' these gadgets are also not activated. (In SoundSystem 3.0 these gadgets will be used for replaying the samples.) <3> When you had choosen the 'Rename Gadget', you are able to rename all the 31 samples and the songname. <4> When you had choosen the 'Save Gadget', you are able to save the sample which was clicked. * The middle part of the window contains always the menu. Just follow the command which are available. * The lower part of the window contains the status messages. I do not explain that; it goes without saying! нннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннн -=> Search Mode <=- <1> 'Start searching from $00000-$80000' When clicking this gadget you will start the search procedure. First the searchpointer shall be resetted and after that the program will look for any SoundTracker song. The search procedure will use one of the codes 1 to 5. This depents on which code you had entered. When a possible song had been found, the search precure stopps. If the program thinks that a song was found it will update the search pointer, and a message occures. * If a SoundTracker song with 31 samples was allocated, the message 'A SoundTracker song with 32 samples was found!' will appear. * If a SoundTracker song with 16 samples was allocated, the message 'A SoundTracker song with 16 samples was found!' will appear. When such a song was allocated the last 16 sample gadget in the upper screen will contain the message 'Not available'. This is done, so that you can not confuse with a 32 samples containing song. * If the program did not know what kind of a song was found, the message 'A possible SoundTracker song was found!' will appear. If no song was found, the window will flash up, and the message 'Nothing was found!' will be printed. <2> 'Continue searching at $xxxxx' If you had choosen this gadget, the search procedure will be continued. Everything goes in the exact way as the 'Start' gadget; except that the pointer will not be cleared. <3> 'Search code #x' This determines which code will be used in the search procedure. There is only 1 note. When you had choosen code #5 and any song had been found, always the message 'This could be SoundTracker song with 32 samples ' will occure. This could be right. But after testing the replay mode, it can happen that it was not a 32 saple song. Therefore add $1e0 to the pointer. The program will now recognise it as an 16 sample song. Now you have more opporunities that this is the right song. <4> 'Enter pointer $xxxxx' By clicking one of the 5 pointer boxes, you are able to change the pointer. Note 1: the digits will only be increased by one. If you want to decrease the pointer, just click several times the same gadget. Note 2: if you want a particular pointer, it always advisable to use this option combined with the increase/decrease gadgets. This goes much faster! <5> 'Increase/Decrease pointer by: $2/$2000' By useing this gadget, you are able to change the search pointer in a very quick way. Eg. you find a SoundTracker song by useing the memory dump, you can change the pointer. And afterwards you continue the search procedure with code #4. This will almost lead to succes. <6> 'Memory Dump' This is a special feature. It looks like the programs Mempeaker and GraphicsSearcher. The data in the memory will be visualized from the search pointer. By moveing the mouse the screen will move correspondally up or down. A SoundTacker song can easily be recognised in the memory. It hard to explain, but I can give one advise. Just try it... Really, this could be very powerfull. Some 'smart' programmers change the headers of the SoundTracker songs, but it will always be visable in the memory. When you think that you have found a song, write dowm the pointer. By returning the search menu, change the pointer to the string you had written down. Set the search code at #4 or #5. Now increase the pointer by $2. Repeat this several times, and probably the song will be found! нннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннн -=> Replay Mode <=- Do only use this mode when you are almost sure that song allocated is really a SoundTracker song. If it is not, it is possible that your Amiga crash!!! * 'MasterTracker 1.0' from The New Masters If a SoundTracker song with 16 samples was found, it can be replayed by useing this replayer. If a song with 32 samples has been found, this mode is not available. * 'SoundTracker 2.0' from Doctor Orgasmus Crackings If a SoundTracker song with 16 samples was found, it can be replayed by useing this replayer. If a song with 32 samples has been found, this mode is not available. * 'NoiseTracker 1.0' from NorthStart + The Silents If a SoundTracker song with 32 samples was found, it can be replayed by useing this replayer. If a song with 16 samples has been found, this mode is not available. нннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннн -=> Rename Mode <=- This mode goes without saying. Just the click the gadget wich you like to rename. But remember if you want to rename a sample be sure that it begins with 'st-xx:', else you are not able to save the sample. нннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннн -=> Save Mode <=- Although this mode is also very easy to use, there is a little explanation. <1> 'Requesters on/off' If this is on, there will always appear a requester before saving. This is done so that you can not make mistakes by clicking more gadgets in a short time. If the reqester is off, the save procedure goes straight forward. No requesters, only when your disk is not writeable. But this is a normal DOS requester. <2> All the other gadgets are easy. Just click the gadget which you like to save. <3> This time there is updated saving procedure than SoundSystem 1.0. In this version the free disk space will be calculated before saving. So it is not possible that the save procedure will be aborted owing to less disk space. If there is not enought space a message will occur. нннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннннн I wich all music-rippers a good luck. Use this program, it is the very best ripper available at this moment.
