THE HACK MAGIC DIGITAL CONCERT DEMO CREATOR BY M.BUSH INSTRUCTIONS REQUIREMENTS A 1meg Amiga, a blank formatted disk named DEMO, the demo creator disk and prefferably two drives. Place the demo creator disk in drive DF0: and the blank disk in df1: (if you have one), if you only have one drive you will be asked to insert your blank disk when it is required. Now boot your AMIGA (not literally). Once the demo creator has loaded you will be treated to a demonstration of what the HACK MAGIC DIGITAL CONCERT DEMO CREATOR is capable of. You have two main menu options available from the demo, these consist of FILTER - turns the lo-pass filter on/off, and MUSIC - this contains 3 tunes for your listening pleasure. When you are fed up with the demo, you can press the left mouse button to exit the demo and enter the creation utility. Here you will find the most powerful (at the moment) PD demo creation utility, and it's written in AMOS basic! You can flip between the creator and workbench at any time if you need to format a disk, press the left Amiga and A together to jump to and from the workbench. The workbench is in a window, so if you want to use the cli instead, just click on the screen to back gadget on the workbench window. I will describe each menu option individually. You can use the menu options in any order, except Make Demo should always be the last option. If you have already made a digital concert and just want to change the scrolly or something, just select the menu option you need and ignore the rest. SCROLL TEXT After selecting this option you will be asked to enter your scroll text (what else would you be asked to enter?) You can use some punctuation e.g. question marks, commas etc. But all text must be in CAPITALS. The scroll text will be saved to your disk and you can then choose another option. PICTURE After selecting this option you will be given a file selector, and asked to choose a picture to load. You can load an IFF picture in low res. (even a HAM picture) The only other restriction is that the picture must be no more than 220 lines deep. For instance, if the picture is 320 x 256, the bottom 36 lines will be clipped. Once you've decided on your picture it will be converted and saved to your disk. As soon as all drives have stopped, you may choose another option. MUSIC Again you will be given a file selector, this time you can load a soundtracker module. After the module has loaded, you will be asked for the version number, for any soundtracker above 2.4 (e.g. Noisetracker) enter 2.4. When the module has been converted, you must save it as "data1","data2", "data3","data4","data5". You can have up to 5 tunes in your digital concert (disk space permitting). When you have converted all your tunes, select Quit on the file selector. You may then choose another option. MENU When you select this option you will first be asked to enter the number of tunes in your digital concert, just press 1 to 5 (depending on the no. of modules you have converted), then hit return. Next you will be asked to enter the name of song no.1, this should be the name of the song you saved as "data1", repeat as for data2,3,4 & 5. When you have done this, you will be ready for the final stage in the creation of your DIGITAL CONCERT DEMO. MAKE DEMO This is simplest option of all. It's function is to copy all the relevant files from the HACK MAGIC DIGITAL CONCERT DEMO CREATOR disk, to your (no longer) blank disk. It then writes the startup-sequence on the disk, and transforms your music, picture and text into a stand alone digital concert demo, complete with pull down menus for choosing the different tunes and turning the lo-pass filter on/off. ----------------------------------------------- This Program and all parts thereof (excluding those under prior copyright elsewhere) are copyright M.Bush 1990.
