WBLock V1.2 - By The Reaper, (C) 1994 Challenge Logic LTD =========================================================== Requirements: An Amiga WB 1.3/2.0/3.0 Compatible This program was written as a little exercise for myself. I was bored one evening, and me and FIN were messing about on the computer. Then I wrote this. It is a little Workbench Locking program. Nothing special, and the funny thing is, is that it does not actually LOCK the workbench. No. It simply sets all the colour registers to zero, and waits for a password to be typed in. Heres the full instructions: Loading: From Workbench: Simply Double Click on the ICON. You will be presented with a little window with 3 gadgets. A STRING Gadget, a 'LOCK' button, and an 'I' button. Clicking on the STRING Gadget, will bring up a cursor and you can type your desired password into it. Press the RETURN key when finished. Clicking on 'LOCK' will Iconify the Window and set all the colour registers to zero, so you can see Sweet Fanny Adams. To bring all the colours back to normal, simply type your password in. If you make a mistake simply press return and start again. If you accidently lock it, without putting a password in, then simply pressing return will unlock it. Clicking on 'I' will Iconify the Window. Activating the little Title Bar and pressing the 'i' Key, will Un-Iconify it. From CLI: WBLOCK - Starts normally as if run from Workbench WBLOCK ? - Brings up a little HELP text! WBLOCK - Starts the Program in LOCKED mode ( IE, it will Iconify itself on loading, and black out everything ), and you can unlock it by typing . This password will also be in the String Gadget. WBLOCK I - Brings up Wblock, Iconified... WBLOCK C - Some information about Challenge Logic Couldn't be simpler eh? To Quit the program, simply click once on the Close Gadget in the top left hand corner of the window. The Workbench must be 'unlocked' for this to work ( Logical really, as you might have trouble finding the close gadget. Also, the close gadget is disabled in locked mode to prevent mistakes! ). So this program is useful for Startup-Sequences, and for locking up the machine while you grab a cup of tea. Other programs will also be left running, so it also serves as a crude Screen Blanker!!! Hehehehe... BUGS ==== * Will not operate correctly with SIMGEN ( That Age old program which sticks piccies on the back of your Workbench ). Basically, it won't let WBLOCK set the palette. Mouse Pointer will still screw up tho'! I don't think it is my fault because I tried a palette editor with this SIMGEN program and that wouldn't work either! ( Information : Rob ) * On WB1.3, it does not open a window border. Although this does not affect the functioning of the program. Don't worry, I'm working on it... RELEASE HISTORY =============== 05/02/94 - First Release Version 12/02/94 - Second Release Version * Now randomly moves Mouse Pointer * WBLOCK I - Starts Workbench Lock, Iconified * If Password invoked via Command Line, you could see the password a nanosecond before it locked. This no longer happens * Any Mouse clicks OUTSIDE of the window, will now no longer prevent you typing the password 07/04/94 - Third Release Version * Now has a 'H' button to 'hide' the password itself. Useless really, but It was Fin's idea...Ask him.... 12/04/94 - Fourth Release Version * Fixed bug on AGA machines, which left some colours when locked. Although this did not really matter, I had to get it perfectly. It'll still bugger up a bit if your Workbench is running with 256 colours, as Wblock only blanks the first 32.
