Personal  Computers  (PC)  have  a  one,  big  advantage, that haven't our
Amigas. Almost every PC has an own real-time clock with battery. Thanks to
that, PCers needn't to change the date of the system, after every turn on.
It's  a  pity,  that almost every Amiga user got to do that "crap". But...
Amiga  users  are  lazy,  and  they  never do that, so all files, wich are
changed  on  hard  drive, simple have a funny dates (just like 5-Oct-88 :)
What ca we do with that dates? Change them by hand with @{"File Master" link "English/help.guide/FM" 0}, spending maaany hours? Or,
maybe  buy  a memory expansion board, which have a special batteries? This
two  options  have  a  "bugs".  First  is  uncomfortable, and second isn't
cost-friendly :^ But now, you have a third option - a use of DateChanger.

But  you  can  ask  - what the proper dates are for? You're right - normal
user  doesn't  need  proper dates, but there are people, just like me, who
need this. I compile PD disk library called Polware, and it GOT to be done
in  100%.  I've got to change all dates! I think, there's some people, who
also want to do some good stuff, as I do ;) I hope you'll like DateChanger

This is a standard template of DC:

NAME/M/A, NEWDATE=ND/K, NEWTIME=NT/K, ONLYOLDER=O/S, DATE=D/K, TIME=T/K,
ALL/S

Wow!  It  looks  complicated,  but I make you sure, that it's really easy.
Besides, you are very intelligent :)

NAME - @{i}a list of names of the directories and files to be processed.
Erghh... only dates of that files/dirs are processed of course!@{ui}

NEWDATE - @{i}a new date, which will be written to the file/dir. It got to be in
DOS format: dd-mm-yy (eg. 01-Jan-96). If you wont write this argument, the
default date of the system will be writen to file/dir.@{ui}

NEWTIME - @{i}Same as NEWDATE, but for new time. You can write it in this
format: hh:mm:ss (13:20:59)@{ui}

ONLYOLDER - @{i}This switch tells the program, that it have to change file/dir
dates only then, if they are older then DATE (see below) and TIME (also
below). IF you wont write DATE and TIME arguments, the default value will be
used (01-Jan-89, 12:00:00).@{ui}

DATE - @{i}Date for the ONLYOLDER switch. IF that flag is set, then DATE tells
the program, that only older files then DATE have to be processed. By
default the DATE is 1st January, 89.@{ui}

TIME - @{i}Same as DATE, but for time. Write it in DOS format. Default it's
12:00:00. Hmmm. I think this argument won't be really useful, but...@{ui}

ALL - @{i}This switch tells the program, that it has to do work recursively.
Dates of all files in subdirs will be changed (or if ONLYOLDER is on, only
files with older dates...)@{ui}


@{b}Note:@{ub}

As  you can see, to run that program, only one argument is neccesary - the
list  of  files  and  directories. I think, you won't use other options to
often  (I  think,  you'll like onlyolder, and ALL switches). Why? Because,
befor  the  running  of the program, you can set the proper date, and then
just  change the dates of the wanted files. Writing of the date by NEWDATE
is IMHO more difficult :^

DateChanger Sd0:Files Sd0:System ALL

It  will  set  the  dates  of files in that dirs (and also this 2 dirs) to
standard date, taken from Amiga real time clock.

DateChanger Dh0: NEWDATE=11-Apr-96 NT=16:40:00

This  will  make  ALL  files  in Dh0: partition havin' a date, which is my
birthday date in this year :)

DateChanger "Polware PD#11:" D=15-Mar-90 ONLYOLDER ALL

All  files,  older  that  1-Jan-89 on Polware #PD11 will be processed, and
written  date will be set. I this way, only dates of really old files will
be changed.

So, As I said before it wasn't difficult, was it? Neeee.

Now,  if  you'll select any files, and then click on NewDate, the dates of
selected files will be changed to default (from Amiga clock). I think it's
OK, because A1200 automaticly set the clock (after power on) to 05-Oct-88.
And only files with this date will be processed.

If you don't like it, you can write somethink more:

DateChanger {F} {r,Arguments}

Now,  when  you'll pick NewDate, a window will open, and you have a chance
of writing a needed options. Do what ya want...
