* Daisy Painter By Paul Burkey (C) 1992 Daisy Software - 14/7/92 Written using AMOS the creator * Daisy Painter is a fun graphics programme for people of all ages. It was designed for use by children but whilst writing I found myself drawing silly pictures or patterns using the crayons and brushes and mirrors. It is also good for practicing with different drawing modes used in other paint packages. One of the best parts is the mirror section allowing up to seven exact copies of whatever you are drawing to be mirrored around the center of the screen. This is especially good for children, I have a four year old friend who just sits and draws patterns for hours. Daisy Painter is very easy to use but here is a short Document to help. Once loaded you will be ready to draw. You will see eight paint tins on the left and eight paint tins on the right. point and press the mouse button on any colour to choose. There are eight Buttons on the bottom of the screen :- 1) Brushes and shapes. 2) Spray Can. 3) Fill Can. 4) Palette 5) Patterns. 6) Disk Options. 7) Undo. 8) Clear Screen. 1} Brushes And Shapes. Pressing this button will cycle through the different brushes and shapes. these are:- Fine line- A fine brush for thin lines. Medium line- A crayon for medium lines. Thick line- A big fat brush for thick lines. Circle- Press mouse button and drag, then release for a circle. Square- Press mouse button and drag, then release for a square. Line- Press mouse button and drag, then release for a line. Rays- Press to fix one point then draw rays across the screen. 2} Spray Can. Pressing this button activates the spray can, Very simple. 3} Fill Can. Pressing this button activates the Filling can. Point the point of the paint into a shape or section and it will be filled with the current colour. 4} Palette This button sends you into the paint mixing section. It is totally different to other palette mixers found on the Amiga. This way is the easiest way I have seen. You will see an arrow pointing at a small paint pot around the outside, this is the colour you are to change. You can see an enlarged version of this in the center. To the right there are five tubes of paint:- Black- White- Red- Green- Blue- The red, green and blue tubes are the colours, pressing on the red tube will put a bit of red into the pot. Pressing the blue will mix some blue and the same with the green, the paint in the pot will slowly change to green. The Black and white tubes are used to darken or lighten the colour. Pressing the black tube will slowly darken the paint and the white, lighten. The paints mix slightly differently to normal paints because they are "Light paints" and not the usual pigment. The more colour you add to the paint the lighter and brighter the colour will get. Here are some examples:- Press on the red tube until the colour in the pot is totally red. Then press on the green button until the colour is bright then add a little more red and you have mixed yellow. Press on the blue tube until the colour in the pot is totally blue. Then press on the red button until the colour is purple. Now you can add black or white to make it a bright purple or a dark purple. You can mix brown by using a lot of red a small bit of green and a touch of blue.You can keep adding colour as much as you like until you have the right one. Then either press on another colour around the outside to change it or press on the OK button to go back and draw. 5} Patterns Button. Pressing this button cycles through the patterns:- Single line- One single line - Normal mode. Eight Symmetry- Eight copies in symmetry. Four symmetry- Four copies in symmetry. Mirror Mode- Exact copy mirrored down the middle. 7} Undo this button lets you undo the last drawing action including clear screen, it even undo`s the undo button. 8} Clear screen Simply clears the screen! 6} Disk options I have tried to make the disk section as easy as possible but there are always a few problems. Load a picture and Save a picture are simple enough:- Just wait for the drive to read the disk. Use the up and down buttons to scroll the list. If you want to load, click on the name of the picture and press load. If you want to save then you can either click on the name of the picture and press save or click in the black box and type the name of your picture an press save. Disk/Directory:- This allows you to select the place on the disk that you want to load from or save to. Press Disk/Directory button. Press:- Amiga Drive - This is the internal drive df0: Extra Drive 1 - This is the external drive df1: Hard Drive - This is hard drive dh0: If you do not have an extra drive or hard drive the buttons will not appear. Insert your disk in any of these drives and press the button. Now The drive will read the disk and show you a list of the directories. Some directories are missed out :- s,c,libs,devs,Fonts and some others. This is to tidy it up and make life a touch easier. You will see a list like. No Directory Paul's_Pictures Laura's_Pictures Stevie's_Pictures Now you can press on the directory you want ie, Paul's_Pictures, then press Ok. Now all loading and saving will happen in this directory. If you pressed on No Directory then all loading and saving will happen on the disk, and not in a directory.If you can format a disk or "initialize a disk" this can be used to save pictures to. Even better, if you can create some directories on the disk with the names of the people who will use it. If young children are going to use this programme then I would advise you to create a directory for them and set the programme to use this. then it is quite easy for them to save there pictures. The fourth button in the disk menu is (Save as Spack/Save as Iff) this lets you decide how the picture is saved. Save Spack:- This saves the picture in a very compact file. It improves the loading time and improves the disk space. Using Spack you could save over a hundred pictures to one disk. Some pictures take up more space than others so expect to see about seventy. Save Iff:- This is a compacted file as well but not as good as the spack. The only advantage this has over the Spack is you can load your pictures into Deluxe-Paint or any other paint-package. The (Spack/Iff) option does not affect the loading as it will automatically decide which type it is on loading. If children are going to use this programme then please make sure there are no important files on your disks. I will not be held responsible for the loss or damage to data caused by this programme. The Hard drive section of this programme has not been tested because I have not got a hard drive (I'm too poor!) but I can see no reason why it won't work? Daisy-Painter is shareware. Stencils on the disk for you to colour in and save. Cut & Paste. Text. Bits & Bobs - Lots of pictures like noses, eyes, ears, mouths, hair, heads, shapes and hats etc. to make up funny faces. Also an NTSC version if required. If you want to send a photograph I could personalise the disk to show your photograph when it loads. Also any other option you would like to see? This short version takes up about 10% of the disk but the full version uses up most of it. Also included on the disk is a demo of Picturesque II my more serious paint package and the best Sprite Designer around.
