KICKSTART SAVER V2.0 """""""""""""""""""" Noot van de redaktie: Het programma Kicksaver heeft moeilijkheden met ons menu programma. Om het op te starten kiest u voor QUIT en tikt vervolgens KICKSAVER When you start it up, you first see some colors flash. That is not a cruncher but the programm is copying the present kickstart into its buffer, and becuase I like to see what the programm is doing I kept it in the final version as well. Next a screen appears. It containes eleven gadgets. Gadgetnr Function 1. load disk df0: 2. load disk df1: 3. load file 4. kicksum df0: 5. kicksum df1: 6. file 7. makekick df0: 8. makekick df1: 9. save file 10. 4 eproms 11. exit The larger squar gadget will display the status of the program, this can be 'WORKING PLEASE WAIT!' 'READY' 'ERROR NO KICKSTART' 'FILE ERROR' 'WARNING NO KICKSTART' The last error is only a warning and will not stop the program. When this warning appears you can still write the buffer as a kickstart disk but when you try to use it, it will not work. This was done because some people might want to use this programm to split a file into four equal parts for their eproms. Beware that the file must contain a 'header' of 512 ($200) bytes just like the kickstart disks. The ERROR NO KICKSTART will stop the activity, (only when you use the KICKSUM gadgets) but leaves the buffer intact! The following numbers refer to the gadget mentioned above. 1. when you click this gadget the program will load an entire kickstart disk from df0: into its buffer. This includes the header mentioned above. 2. Same as 1. but now he uses df1: 3. This one loads a kickstart file specified next to the file gadget. 4. This one will read the entire kickstart from drive df0: and then calculates the checksum, writes the checksum in the kickstart and writes the part that containes the checksum back to the disk. This function will only work if the disk is really a kickstart disk. 5. Same as 5. but now uses drive df1: 6. This is not really a gadget you can click on, but it only points out where you can enter the filename. Just click in the square next to this gadget. When you click inside the square nothing seems to happen, but now you can enter the filename. When your done typing the filename press return. Now whenever you use gadget 3. or 9. the program will search for or write to that file. 7. When you click this gadget the program will install df0: with the kickstart that is in the buffer at that time(that can be either the present kickstart or a loaded kickstart) 8. Same goes for this gadget only it uses drive df1: 9. This gadget writes a file to the filename specified near the 6th gadget. Be sure that you specify the drive for example filename= DF1:kickstart1.3 10. This gadget will write four parts of each 64 kb to drive df0: they will be called : eprom1 eprom2 eprom3 eprom4 these files can be used to burn your eproms. 11. This gadget speaks for itself. This program needs a lot of free chipmem (338600 bytes). If there is not enough memory available the program will end without a note. When you make a kickstart disk all the information on that disk will be lost, so be sure that the disk is an empty disk. This does not count for writing a kickstart file.
