This file is designed to show you how to use ²Saxon Publisher's³Imbedded Text Commands when creating text files in WordPerfect.  Ifused effectively, this useful feature can increase your typesettingefficiency significantly, and will reduce the time required to producemany documents.  In order to fully understand the use of thesecommands, please follow these steps carefully:
1.  First examine this text file closely, noting especially the formatof the blocks of text that appear and the relative positions of thevarious Imbedded Text Commands that are illustrated.  It is suggestedthat you have your program manual handy and open to the Editing Textsection in order to be able to refer to the various text commands.
2.  Once you have examined this file, please run ²Saxon Publisher³ andload the file called "ImbeddedTextCommands.SP" from the Examples Disk.
3.  Next, load the "ITCStyleSheet" stylesheet file by selecting'TypeStyle©>Load StyleSheet'. 
4.  Load this text file by first selecting 'External©>Import Textª>WordPerfect', and entering "ImbeddedTextCommands.WP" as the filename.
5.  Once this file has been imported into ²Saxon Publisher³, insert itinto the text boxes in your document.  The various paragraphs willautomatically be reformatted as specified by the Imbedded TextCommands found in this WordPerfect file, according to the formattingparameters specified in the associated style sheet.

The first thing that you should note is that the above paragraph doesnot contain any imbedded text commands.  When it is inserted into²Saxon Publisher³, these paragraphs will be rendered in the prohgram'sdefault 'BODY TEXT' style.  This particular paragraph will also berendered in the 'BODY TEXT' style since the text command appearing onthe first line specifies it.  Note these important points about thestyle definition command.

1.œ  First of all, the style definition command must appear alone on aline of text in WordPerfect.  It is placed at the beginning of theline and is separated from the paragraphs immediately preceding andfollowing it by carriage returns.
2.œ  As you can see, it is not essential that a blank line precedes thestyle command, but it is essential that the first paragraph followingthe style command begin immediately on the line following the command.
3. œ Since a style definition named "bullet" was specified at thebeginning of this list, all of the numbered items in this list willappear in the "bullet" style when the text is inserted.  The programscrolls through the ²Tag List³ searching for a style tag named "bullet". If it doesn't find one, any associated paragraphs will be rendered inthe default 'BODY TEXT' style.  This is why it is important that youload the appropriate stylesheet before you load a file containingimbedded text commands.œ
4.  Note that a style command does not have to be specified at thebeginning of each paragraph within a document.  As it inserts the textÜj     Üfile,² Saxon Publisher³ renders all paragraphs in the type style thatwas last specifiedœ.  For example, if, in the creation of thisdocument, we did not specify any more style definitions, allparagraphs following the "bullet" tag would be rendered in the'bullet' style.  This point will become more readily apparent to youas you read the rest of this file.

Note that we have now reverted to the 'BODY TEXT' style.  Whenspecifying style commands, it is not important whether the command iswritten in upper or lower case.  However it is important that the nameof the style tag begins immediately after the commandœ.  For example,in the command found at the top of this paragraph, there is no spacebetween the "S" in the command and the "B" in "Body".  There is aspace between the words "body" and "text", and this is because thestyle tag was defined that way when it was created.  There is no limitto the number of times that the style command can be used in adocument;  The only factor that is limiting you is the number ofdefined style tags contained on your stylesheets and the amount ofavailable memory.

The following paragraphs will illustrate the use of the other imbeddedtext commands available in ²Saxon Publisher³.  The remaining commandsare imbedded within your actual paragraphs, and are not subject to theplacement restrictions found when using the style definition command.

The supported embedded text commands allow you to @Bboldface certainwords as required@b, @I italicize words as required @i and @Uunderline words as required@u.  Provisions have also been made toallow you to @>superscript certain words@=, or, alternatively, to 
@<subscript them@=.  In all instances, you are required to denote theblock of text to be affected by placing the appropriate activationsymbol at the beginning of the block, and the correspondingdeactivation symbol at the end.  Any text that appears between thesesymbols will be affected.
@1 The Special1 font symbols are used to highlight a word or a blockof text that is to be formatted according to the Special1 definitioncontained in the style requester for the type style that was lastspecifiedœ.@n
@2 The Special2 symbol performs a similar function.  In order to seethe effect of these symbols, highlight these two paragraphs inParagraph Mode (when using² Saxon Publisher³) and select 'TypeStyleª>Alter Current'@n.œ

As a final demonstration, we will recopy the first part of thisWordPerfect file using ²Saxon Publisher's³ Imbedded Text Commandsœ.  Whenyou insert this file into the example document in ²Saxon Publisher³,compare the following section with the the one that appears at thebeginning of this file. As you can see, effective use of the imbedded text commands at thetext entry level can potentially save you a lot of time in typesettingdocuments.  It may seem at first that the implementation of thesecommands in your WordPerfect file is no better than reformatting theparagraphs individually when you are ready to typeset your document. However, you will soon realize that these commands are not ascomplicated as they initially seem, and their use will soon becomesecond nature as you are become more comfortable using² SaxonPublisher.³ and have built up a library of stylesheets.
