This Read_Me file contains information on changes which have been made to the program since the manual was printed. Contents: 1) Installation under WorkBench 1.3 2) Project/Information requester changes 3) DownLoad utility 4) EPSF box info 5) Running PPage from CLI 6) Additional function Genies 1) If you are using WorkBench1.3, then it may be necessary for you to modify your startup-sequence. For complete information read the file "Help-Install" that is provided on this disk. 2) In Professional Page 3.0, selecting the menu item Project/Information will bring up the "Document Information" requester. This requester is different from the one shown in the manual (P. 163). It now shows the total number of boxes and pages in your document. In addition there are three new buttons: "PS Font List", "Bitmap Files", and "EPSF Files". Bitmap files and EPSF files will list the locations and file names of all Bitmap graphic and EPSF files used by your document. Since they are not a part of the document file, you will need to include them if you move your document to a different system. The "PS Font List" button will show a list of all PostScript fonts used by your document. This includes both resident fonts and fonts that PPage will download automatically. PPage uses an asterisk to mark any fonts for which no downloadable PostScript file is present. If no downloadable font file is present in your CGFonts:ps directory, then that font must be resident in your printer in order to be used. Your printer documentation will include a list of all resident PostScript fonts. 3) The DownLoad utility provides a convenient way to speed up PostScript printing by sending PostScript downloadable fonts ahead of time. Although Professional Page allows you to download additional fonts temporarily every time you print, this approach can take quite some time. If you use DownLoad, you only need to do this once. You must first select the fonts to download. By default, the program looks for PostScript fonts in the directory CGFONTS:PS. You can give an alternate location by typing a new path into the "Source" box. When the path has been specified, the names of the available PostScript fonts will appear in the large window beneath the "Source" box. If the window is empty, then there are no valid PostScript fonts in that directory. You can select as many fonts as you want to download by clicking on each in turn. Selected fonts will appear highlighted. Below the list of fonts there is a box labelled "Password". This refers to a password required to make the fonts resident (ie permanent) in your printer. In most cases, this will be "0" unless you have changed it. Fonts downloaded in this way will stay in your printer until it is re-set or turned off. When you are ready to download the fonts, select a destination for the fonts by clicking on the "PAR:" or the "SER:" button. These correspond to the paralled and serial ports. Select whichever port your PostScript printer is connected to. If you wish, you also have the option of sending the fonts to a file by clicking on the "Disk" button. This will bring up a file selector to select an output file. This option is very useful when used in conjunction with AmigaDos scripts or Arexx, as you can automatically download specific PostScript fonts on startup. Click on the "Download" button to begin downloading selected fonts. The status will be shown by a "race track" bar that will advance as the download progresses. 4) Boxes containing EPSF files (see P. 167): The information pertaining to the EPSF file in a box is no longer displayed on screen over the grey rectangle representing the EPSF image. Instead, double click on the box (or select Box/Alter/Active from the menus) and the Alter Active Box requester appears. At the bottom the is a "EPSF Info" button. Click on this to see the particulars of the EPSF image within this box. 5) Running Professional Page from the CLI: If you run Professional Page from the CLI please ensure that your stack is set to at least 10000 bytes. To see what your current stack size is simply type "stack" from the CLI. To change it type "stack nnnn", where "nnnn" is the desired stack size in bytes. 6) Additional Function Genies a) MakeBarChart_Vert and MakeBarChart_Horz Use MakeBarChart_Vert or MakeBarChart_Horz to quickly set up a vertical or horizontal bar chart. Enter the number of bars (up to 12), enter the values, that correspond to each bar and the total scale of the chart. Next, enter the labels that are to be attached to each bar. The Genie will the produce the graph to fit the original selected box. b) DropShadowHeader Use this Genie to easily give a '3-D look' to your text. Select a box with text in it and a color for the shadow.
