HARD DISKS AND OVERSCAN When using 16 color, Overscan, Hi Res Interlace or Hi Res No Lace screens, some hard disk/controller combinations will report read/write errors. This is due to the machine bandwidth required to support this display mode. IT IS NOT A PROBLEM CAUSED BY BUGS IN TV*SHOW. If you experience such problems, the following suggestions may help: 1. Make sure your hard disk has been formatted using the Fast File System (FFS). 2. Check with the manufacturer of your hard disk controller to make sure you have the latest version of the controller software. 3. If you are using a Genlock, removing it or the video input to it may help in some cases. If all else fails, your options are using less overscan and/or less colors, or replacing your hard disk controller. REMEMBER: This problem is a result of the screen mode you have chosen and the hardware you are using, not TV*SHOW. SCREEN POSITIONING AND OVERSCAN When displaying overscan images, you may notice a prominent border on the right edge of the screen. If so, you may need to shift the position of your display to the LEFT using the Workbench(tm) Preferences Program. 1. Start the Workbench Preferences program. 2. Using the Editor or the Player, Play the Overscan script found in Script drawer of the TV*SHOW ART DISK included with this program. 3. It will instruct you on how to adjust your screen. SCRIPTS AND FILE PATHS TV*SHOW scripts specify the locations of their needed files relative to the volume name of the disk they are on. For example, an image file might be specified as TV*SHOW:Pix/Cat.picture. TV*SHOW will attempt to locate this file on the volume TV*SHOW when its script is played. If you wish to copy a script to a different disk, use the ScriptMover Program. The example scripts on your TV*SHOW disks require that their images and text be on a disk volume named "TV*SHOW" or "TV*SHOW ART". If you use Workbench to make your backup copy, you'll need to change the copy's name from "Copy of TV*SHOW" to "TV*SHOW" by using the RENAME command found in the Workbench menu. When deleting "Copy of " be sure to include the space following the word "of" so that there is not a space preceding TV*SHOW. LIMITATIONS WITH SLIDING SCREENS You may notice some glitches when using sliding screen transitions, PSH (Push), RVL (Reveal), ROL (ROLL), etc. with certain image formats, such as High resolution 16 color and overscan screens. Using a transition speed of 3 or less will help minimize these problems.
