     We thank you for purchasing Ami-Back, the premier hard disk
backup utility for the Commodore Amiga personal computer.  We hope
you will find that it meets all of your backup needs.  We have worked
very hard to make Ami-Back the best backup utility available for the
Amiga computer.  Please let us know if you agree.  Your suggestions
and/or comments are most welcome.

	Unfortunately no matter how many times you proof read something,
Murphy's Law will always prevail.  We have a few minor corrections to
the User's Manual.

  page ii -- CHANGE (9 am - 5 am...) TO (9 am - 5 pm...)  We couldn't
             convince our tech support to stay this long.

  page 7  -- The "Novice User" options have been disabled during
             Ami-Back installation.
	
  page 26 -- The following should be inserted:

             Verify Mode

             In many instances you will wish to be certain of the data
             integrity of the backup Ami-Back is performing.  In these
             situations it is recommended that you select the Standard
             option under Verify Mode.  When this option is set to
             Standard during the backup, Ami-Back will completly
             re-read all the data actually written to the destination
             device and compare it to the data taken from the source
             device.  In this manner, the program is able to verify
             whether or not the backup data is correctly written
             to the backup media and can be successfully re-read.
             Using the Standard Verify Mode will cause the backup to
             proceed at a slower rate.  Depending on your destination
             device, this may take up to two times the normal time
             required to perform the backup.

             Setting this option to Compare will cause Ami-Back to
             compare the backup against the current filesystem in order
             to obtain a list of differences.  Using the Compare option
             will assist you in determining if any files are missing or
             have been changed in any way.  For tape users, the Compare
             option is recommended because some tape drives do not support
             the Standard verify command.

             Selecting Off for Verify mode will result in no verification
             of the data written during the backup process.


             Compression

             Ami-Back gives you the ability compress data during backup.
             This feature is especially useful if you are backing up to
             floppy disks, but there are also benefits to using it in
             backing up to other media such as SyQuest cartidges or tapes.
             When you select the Compression option, Ami-Back will check
             each file it encounters during the backup.  If Ami-Back
             cannot achieve more than a 10% compression rate on the file,
             Ami-Back will backup the file without compression.  This way,
             the backup is not slowed down for little gain.

             The amount of compression will vary depending on the nature
             of your data; however, on the average Ami-Back will achieve
             a 30%-40% compression rate.  Because Ami-Back takes advantage
             of the Amiga's multitasking capabilities, you should notice
             very little, if any, speed loss during backups with the
             Compression option.  In fact, if you are using an accelerated
             Amiga for backups to floppy disks, you will actually see that
             the backup is faster than without compression.  This is
             because Ami-Back has to write significantly less data to disks.
             

             Include Sub-Dirs

             If the source device you have selected contains any
             subdirectories, you can choose to Include them in or Exclude
             them from the backup by using this option.  For example, if
             you are backing up a device which contains two subdirectories
             and their corresponding .info files, selecting the Exclude
             gadget would instruct Ami-Back to ignore the subdirectories
             and back up only the two .info files.


             Set Archive Bit

             Setting the archive bit is necessary if you wish to perform
             a backup checking archive bits.  Selecting the Yes gadget will
             direct Ami-Back to set the file archive protection bit for
             all the files included in the backup.  AmigaDOS automatically
             clears the archive bit when a file has been altered so
             Ami-Back can tell which files have changed since the last
             backup.  This option allows Ami-Back to detect whether
             or not your files have been backed up.

             will not work with Ami-Back13.

             using the WorkBench (type) Screen.
