The entire risk as to the quality and performance of these programs is
with you.

****************************************************************************

Welcome into the deeper gutter of the traduction.

Well, have you ever earn a interesting software but unusable
because of the English documentation ?
How many year passed to understand a sentence or searching a word in the
dictionary ?
If you ever face that, TRA*DIC is made for you.
Here it is a useful program which translate ENGLISH texts in a more
comprehensible version for french users: is to say a FRENCH version.

* HOW IT WORK ?
  -------------

In fact, it is very simple. You only need to have the documentation you
want to be translated on a disk and to load the program TRADUCTION (if
you have only a disk, click on the "TRADUCTION" icon but if you have an
hard drive and you've installed the program (see later in the doc),
click on the "TRADUCTIONHD" icon) . First of it, the program will
decrunch the dictionary into the ram: and after it will load itself.
Once you are at the main menu, you'll see the option "select a file".
press the button to the max and you'll be able to choose what file you
want the program to translate.
After that, in the right of the screen, you'll see three options. Here
are the descriptions:
- PRINT ON/PRINT OFF: yes it is possible. Select it (put it on) and
while the program is translating, a super output of the traduction is
  printed.
Always verify that your printer is connected to the computer, else it
will be very hard for the computer to print (Sure!).

- LEARNING ON/LEARNING OFF: this (for myself) is the most interesting
part of the soft. When it doesn't know a word, It'll ask you what
it means in french. It'll record it in his little memory and won't
ask you anymore for it. Except if you simply press return. with this
option, the program will store the word in a file called "à_traduire"
(to_translate) and will highlight the word in the traduction by
some ? around it (like this: ?and?). When you put the option off, The
program will translate all the text without asking you anything (like
an adult): It is super for long texts or when it bother you to answer
always at the same question. All the words it doesn't know, it will
put them in the "à_traduire" file. The file called "à_traduire" can
be used only to learn new words (is to say all the words not learned
when learning option was off or when you pressed Return).

- FILE ON/FILE OFF: another useful item. When on,it'll create a file in
the directory of the source file with the name:
  name_of_the_source.output .
In it, it'll simply put the traduction of the text. Note that the
traduction text is always a little longer than the original.

Ok! Now select the options you need and press the A N A L Y S E! gadget.
During the translation, the program will inform you of his position in
the text, is to say how many sentence to do until the end.

Other gadgets are:

- END: what more to say.

- INFO: This is a help gadget. on pressing it, you can have an
information upon every gadget on the screen.

- ONE SENTENCE: this otion enable you to enter one sentence which will
be translated once you have pressed the return key. Usefull if you
only want the translation of one word.

Now, if you want to stop the translation, keep the right mouse button
pushed: the program is freezed. Now, if you want to continue, push
left mouse button.
If you want to interrupt the translation, keep pushing the left mouse
button. A message will appear.

If you are bored with the program, you can quit, but wait that the
program has save the dictionary on the disk.

Well, if you have an hard drive, you can copy the program on it but you
must assign the "dico/" directory as:

assign dico: name_of_the_hard_drive:name_of_the_path_for_Prg/dico/

in your startup-sequence.

ex: if you want to assign the program in the Dh0:Tools/ directory, you
    should type:

    assign dico: dh0:tools/dico/

Now you can click the "traductionHD" icon (a special startup for the
hard drivers which not use the ram: but work directly on the hard
drive (don't worry for the intense activity of it: I have 2 years of
use of this program and never meet any problems).

Now, one important thing. If you have any suggestions to do upon this
program (except for my poor English), write us. It's really important
because it improve the TRA*DIC. Also, don't forget to pay the
shareware coz this program is the materialization of long and hard
hours of work and if you don't, it won't help to improve it
(understand that we won't be motivated to distribute a new version).
So if you think that this program is good, send us 30 francs
(4£ or 6$ US).

In the complete version of this program, you'll see :

- A file of 300 Kb wxich is a english dictionary to translate (usefull if
  you want new words).
- A frequence of words analyser (which work on files).
- A program that count the number of words you have in you Dico.
- A frequence of letters analyzer.
- An enhanced version of TRA*DIC

Yes, you know that's not enought so we've decided to put other programs
like:

- An Aquarium maker (To deal with those terribles sharks).
- A program which enable you to create 2.0 style presentations in GFA
(usefull for those who don't know how to manipulate libs).
- A sorting program.
- A "where is".
- A "where is fred" that works with the Aquarium maker.

Not so bad, no ?

Now the feedbacks.
Yes we know that this program is not as perfect as you espect it. We know
that The traduction is not really professional coz of the word by word
translation. But in fact, it depends on what you want to do with it.
If you want to use the traductions in a commercial way, that's sure it's not
really interresting. But for personal use, it is really interesting. The
translation is not so hard to read and you can understand the entire text.
What more ? Well yes, you must espect more from us and from TRA*DIC. We're
about to release an assembler version which is very, very, very fast. We've
done some tests on differents Amigas and the gain of speed is uncredible!!!
It's like comparing light and darkness...
The GFA version is pretty fast (Really fast on a A4000: 10 seconds to
translate this text) but the new version is really impressive: The count of
words part done on a 4 Mb text takes about 4 seconds to perform on a A4000.
On a A1200, a 6000 words text count takes less than half a second... The
main traduction program will provide problems coz when you'll translate, the
computer is going to fast and you can't read the traduction on screen.
So if you have any idea to slow it or to make the visualisation more easy...
But that's not all: this version will be the first to include a grammatical
sort (is to say it'll arrange the sentence in a more comprehensible way)
that will also be very fast. The longer part is to enter the grammatical
forms of English and French sentences so that's why we won't release it
untill we're sure that it'll work well. This traduction won't be perfect but
it'll also be more good that the GFA version.
So, instead of making noise or sad critics, help us to make a real program
on which everybody will be happy! (Just kidding)

Another thing: You can say that our dictionary isn't very important (and
i'll agree with you) but it is really annoying to enter a lot of word
translations and I haven't the time to do it. That's why I permit myself to
ask you if you haven't a dictionnary that includes english and french
version of the words? I'll prepare an algo to include it in the Dico.

Hope It'll help you as it does for us (my help file for DirectoryOpus
has been translated in French and it is really a pleasure...).
