Packaging.

The  unit comes in a rather trendy and very hard plactic box about 7" by
4",  proud  upon  the  box  in  white  on  a blue background is the word
"Motorola"  the  name  we  can  all relate to.  Once opened the pager is
surrounded  by  black/grey  spongy stuff.  There are also 3 little books
and some contact cards to give out with your number on.

The Pager.

The  actual machine is prodominatly black and measures about 70mm X 50mm
X  15mm  (excluding  belt  clip)  The screen measures 11mm X 47mm and is
surrounded by a cool 'lightning in the night sky' pic.  Below the screen
are 3 buttons.  In the lower right hand corner is the speaker.

Manuals.

The operating instructions comprise of three small booklets, one details
how  to  make  a call to the pager, the other tells you how to operate &
read  your  messages  and the third gives a list of 'codes'.  More about
them later.

Usage - Calling the pager / receiving messages.

Simply  dial  the number (using a touch tone phone is recommended), This
bird  answers  (recording)  and  waffles on for about 5 seconds then you
leave your message after the tone ending with #1, after conformation you
can  hang  up.   Easy.  After about 10 seconds the pager either beeps or
vibrates  depending  on how its set.  The display then displays '1 page'
telling you you have 1 message and its unread.  Pressing the Read button
displays the message.  The message is retained until you choose to clear
it.

An average call on a touch tone phone costs about 20p

Good Points.

The  automatic  mode  is  good, you can set the pager to turn off say at
midnight  and  reactivate  at  8am,  so  you don't get woken up by mates
phoning at silly times trying to be funny.

Critisms.

The only problem I find with this pager is when it goes off when its set
to  vibrate, if its on a table orf hard surface it manages to wiggle its
way  off  the  table.   Saying  that  when I'm in its always set to beep
anyway,  the  only  time I put in on vibrate is when I'm out and have my
walkman on.

Overall.

A  very  snazzy accessory, which looks great.  And you feel so cool when
it goes off in a busy place (fnarr fnarr)

Anyone  interested  in  getting one then they cost £89.99 in Tandy, mind
you I didn't pay that for mine :)
