>3Monkey Island 2 ------- Reviewed by M.S.C. >2 All Amigas with 1meg or more. Available on budget for 12.99, but we had to pay £44.99 because Converse bought it two years ago! Monkey Island is one of the great classics of it's genre; it's subtle humour, colourful graphics and outrageous tunes make it an absolute gem and a must to play and play and play.........and play and play, and play........and play. Sorry, was I getting a bit repetitive there, kind of like Converse's reviews isn't it ? (kind of like your jokes Mark- Ed) AAAAANNNNNNYYYYYWAY!!! (see what I mean?-Ed.) Getting back to the review, Monkey Island really is a good game and I'm not just saying that because I have shares in LucasArts. The original game was absolutely hilarious and the sequel is no exception. All of the jokes not included on the first are shown with all the humour of very funny people who are......very funny, funnily enough. This time around, the game has got a ` lite ' version for people like Molgrat and other brainless numskulls. The superior intellectuals, i.e. you and me, get to play the full caboodle with the "Gimme All the puzzles, I want it All" option, this option will have you extremely irritated by the various difficult puzzles thought up by those very clever people at LucasArts (Watch those shares go UP) The game starts off with Guybrush Threepwood thrilling his friends (OOOooo-Molgrat) with the fabulous and egotistical story of how he killed off LeChuck, the deadly pirate of the ghostly Seven Seas!! Anyway, his friends don't seem to be happy about hearing the story for the five thousandth time, and tell Guybrush so. He doesn't seem to be too impressed with this one, and he's off to find the Legendary BIG WHOOP, and mystical treasures beyond thought. He doesn't exactly get off to a good start however, and loses all his money to the local scumbag Largo LaGrande. The rest of the game is basically about trying to get off Scabb Island, this is harder than it seems because Lagrande will not let anyone off the island without lots of money, which you've just lost to him. Great. SO, the first thing to do is get rid of Largo, then get enough money to leave the island, then actually leave the island. That's quite a good start for an HUGE game. The rest of the Islands, are inhabited by a massively FAT governor ( FATT ISLAND ), one nice island ( BOOTY ISLAND ) and SCABB ISLAND. The rest of the game is about finding the map ( which is in 4 bits, that you have to find ) to Big Whoop, then finding Big Whoop, then killing LeChuck again !!! The music is as good as an American whistler with a Harp (Not bad) and the graphix are good enough to shake a loaf of Blunderswarchtz at as well. Graphix : 93% VERY GOOD SOUND : 82% SUPERB GAMEPLAY : 96% SUPERB OVERALL : 97 % (I've made a fortune, watch those shares soar baby !!!) Hassle Factor- More or less the same as Flight of the Amazon Queen -4- One disk drive can be a pain -2- Two drives, aren't bad at all -0- A few seconds loading per area, nothing worth bothering about. For a budget game, this will keep you entertained for much longer than Flight of the Amazon Queen and will save you quite a bit as well! Surely one of the best games on the Amiga. Please note: on a 1meg A500 with 1 drive, this game crawls, but it's still playable and fun.
