These mailbots automatically handle all three steps in the process. (14K) D) DIRECT CONNECTIONS (TELNET, FTP, GOPHER, WWW) If you have a shell account or direct Internet connection, these are the four fastest ways to get information about TIA (including all of the documents listed in section C), or to make a purchase: TELNET ......................... marketplace.com Currently, telnet may be used to: a) view the TIA Info document, or b) order a Registered license code (either Single User or Host) using a credit card or a secure Marketplace.com account number (see tia- single@marketplace.com, described in Section C, to obtain an account number instantly over the phone). Our telnet forms do not currently allow you to obtain TIA evaluation licenses. Telnet only supports VT100, and does not yet include pop-up help. Until these enhancements are implemented, ordering can be easier using the more flexible e-mail system (see Section B). FTP ............................ marketplace.com Allows you to access all TIA binaries (both current, old, and beta versions), plus all TIA documents listed in section C. Just login as "anonymous" using your e-mail address as your password. Change to the /tia directory for current versions of TIA binaries; the /tiabeta directory for beta releases; and the /tia.old directory for older versions. Look in the /tia/doc directory for all TIA documents (stored in ASCII formats). Finally, look in the /tia/shareware directories for copies of useful shareware programs such as SLIP software and client applications. GOPHER ......................... marketplace.com Perhaps the easiest way for shell account users to "do it all", i.e. read all of our information in gopher text files; get copies of any of the documents listed in section C; and even purchase a Registered TIA license code (using a telnet link). (To avoid transmission errors, however, we suggest you use FTP to retrieve the TIA binary.) WORLD WIDE WEB ................. http://marketplace.com/ We have a complete set of WWW pages that offers the same resources as with gopher, except in a fully graphical format. Of course, you can also access them via lynx and other non-graphical browsers. (NOTE: For now, if you order a Registered TIA license code, our WWW site will attempt to initiate a telnet link to complete the transaction. For this to function correctly, you need a telnet client on your system, and this client must be registered with your WWW browser application. We intend to support full WWW forms shortly.)
