OSK The OnScreen Keyboard © Copyright 1989 by Jonathan Potter Ever been caught without your keyboard? This program is for you! Not public domain, but as always, freely redistributable. See the bottom of this file for changes. Amiga keyboards (except the 500's) are great. But have you ever taken your Amiga somewhere, and forgotten your keyboard? Fret no more, OSK is here! OSK gives you a software keyboard. A pictorial representation of the Amiga 1000's keyboard (the only one I've got!) is shown on the screen, and each of the keys is a gadget. OSK grabs the window that was active before it was run, and sends all key presses to that window. To press a key, click on its gadget. The modifiers, CONTROL, CAPS LOCK, SHIFT, ALT and AMIGA are available - click once to turn on, and again to turn off. To send key strokes to a different window, click on the "Window" gadget in the top right corner. OSK then waits for you to click the left mouse button again. Simply click on the window you wish to send key strokes to. It is probably not a good idea to try to send key strokes to a window that has been closed. You can iconify OSK by clicking on the ICON gadget in the titlebar. To de-iconify OSK, double click on the icon. OSK can be started in iconified mode with the -i flag, from the CLI. ie. OSK -i Address author correspondance to : Jonathan Potter P.O. Box 289 Goodwood, 5034 South Australia Australia ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- OSK v1.1 changes You can now have a 2000's keyboard as well as a 1000's (and use the ()/* on the keypad if the keymap is USA1). To change keyboard, click on the gadget next to the ICON gadget to toggle from 1000 to 2000. The startup keyboard can also be selected with a startup flag ie. OSK [-i] [-500|-2000] OSK defaults to the 1000 keyboard. If either the -500 or -2000 flags are used, OSK will default to the 500/2000 keyboard. -500 has the same effect as -2000, and it is unlikely that an A500 owner will not have their keyboard with them, but the flag was included to make A500 owners feel important. After all, something has to! :-) You can now also trigger a reset from OSK. To do this, click on the (yes, you guessed it) CT, A and A buttons so that they are all highlighted. Then click on ESC.
