CRYSTAL VISION If you wish to put this prog on a disk for resale, please contact the author first. This program allows your Amiga to apparently read your spectators mind. You will need to do a few things ahead of time (after all this is a trick). First you will need a deck of playing cards. Any deck will do. Next you need to remove 3 cards from the deck. They are: the King of Hearts, the 8 of Spades, and the 3 of Diamonds. Turn the deck face down. Now place the 3 of Diamonds on top. Then the 8 of Spades followed by the King of Hearts. Your deck is now set. Check to make sure. You should have the King, the 8, the 3, then the rest of the deck. You are now ready to begin. First I will give you an idea as to what is going to happen then I will teach you how to do it. The program starts out with a small face appearing in a crystal ball. His name is Zardoz. He will give a demonstration in telepathy. He will ask you to have a spectator select any card. Zardoz will tell them to concentrate on their card. He will then tell them the name of the card! The card then appears in the crystal ball. He asks you if you would like to try again. You have another spectator pick a card and he will tell them the name of their card. You can do it once more for the non- believers. Now to recap. Three people have apparently selected any 3 cards of their choice and each time Zardoz was able to tell them what cards were chosen. For those in the know it is very simple, but for your spectators it is quite amazing. How is it possible for a computer to know what card you picked out of a deck of 52! Well here is how it is done. Remember those 3 cards you placed on top of the deck? Well you are going to force your spectators to pick those cards. Here is how to do it. 1. Place the deck face down in your right hand. 2. Have someone lift off a portion of the deck (somewhere between 10 to 30 cards). 3. Have them turn the stack of cards face up and replace them face up onto the face down deck. 4. Have them do it once more but this time a little further down in the deck (somewhere in the face down cards). 5. Have them turn that stack over and replace them on top of the deck. 6. Now spread thru the cards until you come to the first face down card. This is their selected card. Hand them the card. 7. Turn the face up cards face down and place them on the bottom of the deck. 8. Next have the spectator look at his card and replace it any where in the deck. 9. You have just forced him to choose the King of Hearts! (Is that neat or what?) Done smoothly this force will go right over their heads. You can repeat this two more times with the 8 of Spades and the 3 of Diamonds because they are the next two cards on top of the deck. You have a choice of doing it once, twice, or three times or you can quit after a card is selected. Now run the program and go thru these same steps as the program calls for them. Do this about ten times until you get the hang of it before you show it to anyone. This is the main reason most people fail at performing Magic tricks. They get too excited to show off without practicing the fundamentals first. I hope you have as much fun with this as I have. Jeff White.
