This is a demonstration version of The Stock Analyst (c) 1989 from Aggressive Communications. The Stock Analyst is a technical analysis and securities tracking program which uses sophisticated technical indicators to generate buy and sell signals. This demonstration version should contain the following files: READ.ME This file you are reading. STOCK ANALYST A crippled version of The Stock Analyst program which only works with the data provided herein. If the data files are altered, the program will no longer function. There presently exists a large number of Stock Market tracking and Technical Analysis programs available for the IBM PC. Programs like AIQ Computer Trading Systems ($988), CompuTrac ($???), The Technician ($395), The Right Time ($499), MetaStock ($295), Wall Street Investor ($695), and so on, all sell at a premium prices and were incompatible with my wallet and my A1000 (I do not think Transformer would do these programs justice). My search for similar software for the Amiga yielded one comparable program: 'Investor's Advantage'. Upon purchasing Investor's Advantage (I-A), and attempting to seriously utilize the software, I found that I-A lacked the variety of technical indicators that other Technical Analysis software offered. It's analysis tools were difficult to manipulate. The charts on the screen were impossible to read, and subsequently a screen-to-printer output was useless for serious chart analysis. I could go on but .... Frustrated with I-A, I put together The Stock Analyst. The Stock Analyst provides exactly the same indicators as I-A plus many others, as well as more analysis tools which are easier to use. Software advertisers use comparison charts to detail differences between programs, so allow us to do the same: Stock Analyst Investor's Advantage --------------------------------------- Written in Compiled BASIC | HiSoft (Faster!) | Absoft (Slower.)| High/Low/Close/Volume Chart | YES | YES | Number of Price Moving Averages | 2 | 3 | Relative Strength Index | YES | YES | Williams' %R | YES | NO | Lane's Stochastics | YES | YES | Price Rate-Of-Change | YES | NO | Commodity Channel Index | YES | NO | MACD Line | YES | NO | On-Balance Volume | YES | NO | Chaikin Oscillator | YES | NO | Positive/Negative Volume Index | YES | NO | Volume Accumulation/Distribution | YES | NO | Price/Volume Trend | YES | NO | Advance/Decline Line | YES | YES | CBOE Put/Call Ratio | YES | YES | Vary Indicator Periods | YES | YES | Overlay Price Data on Indicator Chrt| YES | YES,REDUCED SCALE| Extend Price Chart into Future | YES | NO | Print Graphic Charts to Printer | YES | YES | Trend Lines | YES | YES | Cycle Lines | YES | YES | Indicator Moving Average | YES | NO | Relative Strength | YES | YES | Trading Bands | YES | NO | Maximum number of Data sets | 500 | | File Maintenance Program | YES | YES | Manual Data Input | YES | YES | Automated Input (modem/data service)| NO | YES (but $$$$) | List Price | $40 | $100 | --------------------------------------- Owners who have I-A should not lose heart. Since I was in the same boat they were in, The Stock Analyst was written around the I-A data file format. Therefore, The Stock Analyst can read I-A stock price data files. Refer to the documentation on how to include an I-A file in The Stock Analyst master index file so that the program knows it's out there. If the demo-version of The Stock Analyst does not operate, then the data files have been altered. See the Registration/Order form to order a working or demo version of The Stock Analyst. Please try The Stock Analyst. If you are a serious investor or an investor who owns Investor's Advantage, or just considering dabbling in the Stock Market, then The Stock Analyst is for you. To order your copy of The Stock Analyst, fill out the Registration/Order form included with these files. To help get you started, I will put on your Stock Analyst disk 2-years of data for up to 4 securities for $10.00 each if you so desire. Planned updates to The Stock Analyst include: - Automated data file update via modem and data-service. - Profit Analyzer program to maximize profits based upon buy/sell trigger points and variable indicator time periods. - More Technical Indicators. - Whatever registered users suggest. - After everything else.... rewrite the program in C. INSTRUCTIONS FOR PREPARING A DEMO DISK: 1. AFTER UN-COMPRESSING THE ARCHIVED FILE, FORMAT A NEW DISK AND NAME IT ' STOCK ANALYST '. THIS IS IMPORTANT BECAUSE THE PROGRAM CHANGES DIRECTORY TO ' STOCK ANALYST ' TO LOOK FOR DATA FILES. IF YOU DO NOT DO THIS, YOU WILL GET A REQUESTOR ASKING YOU TO INSERT DISK: STOCK ANALYST....SO FOLLOW STEP 1. 2. COPY ALL THE FILES TO THIS NEW DISK CALLED: STOCK ANALYST . 3. BEFORE YOU RUN THE PROGRAM, GET INTO YOUR PRINTER PREFERENCES AND CHANGE THE PRINT GRAPHIC TO NEGATIVE. THIS IS IMPORTANT BECAUSE THE GRAPHS ARE WHITE ON A BLACK BACKGROUND. TO DUMP THIS TO A PRINTER WOULD CAUSE UNDO WEAR ON YOUR PRINTER RIBBON. BY CHANGING THE PRINTER GRAPHIC FROM POSITIVE TO NEGATIVE WITHIN PREFERENCES, THE OUTPUT BECOMES BLACK ON A WHITE BACKGROUND. 4. FINALLY, ALTERING THE DATA FILES WILL RENDER THIS DEMONSTRATION VERSION INOPERABLE. 5. DOUBLE CLICKING ON REGISTRATION WILL DISPLAY THE REGISTRATION FORM ON YOUR SCREEN. TO PRINT THE ORDER FORM, CHANGE DIRECTORY TO: STOCK ANALYST FROM THE CLI AND TYPE: PRINT REGISTERORDER 6. DOUBLE CLICKING ON DOCUMENTATION WILL DISPLAY THE DOCUMENTATION ON THE SCREEN. YOU CAN PRINT THE DOCUMENTATION TO YOUR PRINTER FROM THE CLI BY CHANGING DIRECTORY TO: STOCK ANALYST AND THEN TYPING: PRINT DOCUMENTATION
