Tele Title 2 - Tele Title 2 Lowres - Tele Scroll 1 Information. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ============================== Up-Dates as of: Oct 19 1993. ============================== Apart from cleaning up the Entry and Packer programs, there are 2 major up- dates to the Tele programs. One is that there is finally a Reset button in the Main Titles entry page and Two is that there is a Screen Method 4 which will put your Characters over a Picture (T-S-1 N/A to the latter). To Cancel a Title and its 3 Names just press the Left Amiga key when you're at the start of a Name (inside the entry page). The message display will inform you of the cancellation. (There was a slight error in Oct 14 1993 prog but its now been fixed. I forgot to update the memory about the cancellation. Anyway, If you send me your 14 Oct 93 disk(s) I will up-date it/them for you) With T-T-2 Lowres the picture in Screen Method 4 will be Faded In (16 Colours or less) or suddenly appear (after 16 Colours). Screen Method 5 will make your picture suddenly appear (upto 64 Colours). With T-T-2 your picture will be Faded In (T-T-2 has no Screen Method 5). If you have a picture with these methods the picture colours will equal the Letter colours. if you don't then the picture colours and the letter colours can be different. Also, because we are mainly interested in the Characters rather than the picture, the Bob Palette is used instead of the picture's palette. This means your Picture's palette will have to be the same as the Bob's palette. You do not have to use the picture function in order to make screen method 4 work, but if you do use it without a picture I would advice you to use screen method 1, 2 or 3 instead. The Packer program now lets you use Ram as a place to Find and/or Put your picture/packed picture. At the time of writing the program will not work if you accidently load a Animation file into it. This is because Iff files and and Animation files share the same header FORM. So until I can find a difference between the two files, be careful! Filenames can now be upto 15 Characters long. By the way, your Picture can be any size (provided you have enough Memory) and you can load a picture with a different resolution from the Tele program you are using (screen methods 1 to 3 only). I say this because before I said the above wasn't possible (I must of been on Mars that day!). Finally, I've up dated Tele Spares to work with Screen Method 4/5. Tele Spares is a collection of Characters you can use with the Tele programs. Some are in Colour, some are in Low Resolution, some are in High Resolution, etc. If you don't want to do the Cutting and Pasting of Popular DPaint type Characters yourself, get this disk! The Letter Width Sizes are on the disk aswell. ================= Introduction... ================= The TELE series of programs are Video Titling programs. All the programs were written with Easy Amos (Version 1.1) on a A600 with 2Mb and then Up Dated to Amos (Version 1.35). The programs were written with the Camcorder User in mind and will be of best use to them, Although I'm sure you could use them for other things. All 3 programs are Public Domain. Tele Title 2 is an High Resolution Interlaced program. Tele Title 2 Lowres and Tele Scroll 1 are Low Resolution programs. In these instructions (and the program) I've used the following terms as follows... Set Titles - These are the titles defined by me that you can change in the Entry program. I.e. Editor, Producer, Director, etc. Main Titles - These are what you choose from the main menu, to go with your Names. Names - These are the Names to go with your Main Titles. Cast Title - This is the Cast Title. I.e. Starring, etc. Cast Names - These are the names to go with your Cast Title. Items - I've used this word to mean any/all of the above. ================ The program... ================ When the program opens you will see the Main Menu with nine Icons at the bottom of the screen and in the middle of the screen are some of the Main Titles. You simply select a Main Title and enter upto 3 names for it. You can have upto 36 Characters per name in T-T-2, 25 per name in T-T-2 Lowres and T-S-1, if your Letter Width Sizes (L.W.S) will allow you to (L.W.S are explained later). I've only allowed upto 36 characters per name and upto 25 characters per name because I've based these programs around the Medium to Large characters only. However, you can have Small characters if you wish. You can have upto 72 Main Titles with upto 3 Names per Main Title in your sequence, aswell as upto 50 Cast Names. ========================= Typing in your Names... ========================= When you enter your names you will see a Character function. If the name you last typed in won't fit the width of the screen then this will tell you the offending Character Number of your name. For example, if you typed in a name with 15 characters in it and only 10 characters will fit on the screen then this function will tell you that character 11, onwards, will not fit on the screen. The program clears your name off the screen so make sure you know what name you last typed in. I cleared your name because I assumed you would be working from a list or know what you're typing in. I.e. I didn't assume you would be typing in names from the top of your head. ============== The Icons... ============== Icon 1: Left Key - You have a Cast or Party in your film. Right Key - You do not have a Cast or Party in your film. Perhaps your film is a Documentary. Icon 2: Left Key - You have chosen the Cast Title 'Starring'. Right Key - You have chosen the Cast Title 'Starred'. 3rd Key/Both Keys - You have chosen the Cast Title 'Party Goer's'. Note: If you don't have a Third key on your mouse then just press both keys to give you the Cast Title 'Party Goer's' and with both keys still held down simply drag the mouse away from the Icon. The edge of each Icon is safe because the mouse won't operate on these areas. This is to avoid accidentally Quiting the program, Selecting the wrong function, etc. Icon 3: Left Key - Enter your Cast Name(s), if needed. Icon 4: Left Key - Quit the program. Icon 5: Left Key - The Edit menu. Icon 6: Left Key - A reminder of the Keys and Mouse Keys. Go to this menu first. Icon 7: Left Key - Test and Play. This will test for errors and then play your sequence if no errors were detected. Icon 8: Left Key - My Address, etc. Icon 9: Left Key - The Post-Production menu. ========= Bobs... ========= The TELE series use Bobs instead of Fonts. This means you can use the Cut 'N' Paste DPaint type Characters in your sequence, which means more Colours and bigger characters. Although Bobs are used, the characters are Automatically Centered, with Spacing option if needed. The Bob Bank lay-out is as follows... Bobs 1-26 = A to Z (capital letters for your names). Bob 27 = Space 28 = - 29 = . 30 = ' 31 = ! 32 = & Bobs 33-58 = a to z (lower cased letters for your names). Bobs 59-84 = A to Z (capital letters for your titles). Bob 85 = Space 86 = - 87 = . 88 = ' 89 = ! 90 = & Bobs 91-116 = a to z (lower cased letters for your titles). Bobs 117-124 belong to the program and should NEVER be changed. As you can see from the above I have left out the main characters. I did put them into Tele Title 1, but I decided to leave them out of this program. Anyway, if you come to think about it, T.V program Credits hardly, if ever, use a $ or a * symbol, etc, in their Titles. =================== The Characters... =================== To change the Characters in the program to your own simply do the following: 1. Get your favourite DPaint Characters, Fonts or whatever and print or paste them onto a blank Dpaint (or other art package) screen. Once you have pasted or printed them onto the blank screen, save the screen. 2. Now load the Easy AMOS 'Bob-Editor' program (or other Bob-Editor). Insert Your TELE disk and load the 'Bob-Banker' file from the 'Progs' drawer. You should now have my Characters and the program's Icons in the Bank. 3. Now select the Grab-Pic Icon from the Bob-Editor program. Load your DPaint Characters, Fonts or whatever screen into the program. 4. Now simply Grab your letter 'A' and paste it over my letter 'A' by using Bob-Editor's Overwrite Icon. 5. Keep following step 4 until you have overwritten all my Characters only. Do Not overwrite Bobs 117 to 124, these belong to the program and should NEVER be changed. When you have all your Characters in the Bank simply save the bank under any name you choose. You will have to count the number of pixels that each Character's width has so that you can put their width sizes into the Letter Width Size function (Via the Entry program). =============================================== The Edit Menu and the Post Production Menu... =============================================== These menus simply allows you change things like the Position of your Titles and Names (Up and Down Positions only), Screen Pause, Fade Speed (T-S-1 N/A), Load and Save your sequence, Erase Memory, etc. Positions are set in Pixels and not character squares. You can Load or Save certain parts of your sequence. For example, you could load in your Wedding Titles and then load in different names for those titles or you could load in some Names and then load in different titles for those names. You must load in the same number of items. For example, you cannot load in 6 Main Titles and then load in 10 Names. The program won't let you quit this menu until the items are equal. Also, when you first select the above option you must load in a set of Main Titles and a set of Names. You cannot load in a set of Main Titles for example and then carry on. If you try to do this the program won't let you quit this menu until you've loaded in some Names. Once you've loaded your first set of (equal) Main Titles and Names you can simply load your Main Titles and Names seperately, as long as they're equal to the last item you loaded. Apart from loading and saving your Main Titles and Names and Cast Names you can also load a Packed Screen. This will be put at the front of your sequence before the Titles begin. This is best used as a Title Screen. I thought this function would be better than a typed in Title Screen. Your Screen can be Low Resolution 320x256, Low Resolution Interlaced 320x512, High Resolution 640x256 or High Resolution Interlaced 640x512 (T-S-1 N/A). I've put a Screen Packer program (called 'Packer') in the progs drawer for you to use (You could use the Easy Amos/Amos IFF Compactor program instead). Your Packed screen goes into Bank 15 and can be upto 16 Colours for T-T-2 and upto 64 Colours for T-T-2 Lowres. Just follow the prompts in 'Packer' and let the program do the rest. Remember to put the Packed Screen File into your 'Pictures' Drawer. You can load and save your Letter Width Sizes aswell. The Letter Width Size (It should be called Character Width Size, but as most of the Characters are Letters....!) function makes sure your words are Automatically Centered. So if you load in some Characters then you will need to load in their Letter Width Sizes, unless they use the letter width sizes already in memory. The Directory function on this menu simply allows you to check what's on your disk. This is only to remind you what's on your disk. It doesn't erase files, make new drawers, etc. The 'Again' button means read the directory again. This looks at 'DF0:' so if you need to read another disk's directory then simply swap disks when you are Viewing a Drawer and hit the 'Again' icon. The 'Post' button takes you back to the Post-Production menu. View Directory reads upto 60 items (Drawers and/or Files). The Scroll Arrows will not scroll the listing if 'Start' or 'End' is less or equal to 20. The Mouse has no Scroll Bar when choosing a Drawer to view so you will have to watch the Mouse's Tip when you click on a drawer's name. There are Keyboard buttons for the above. The Load Bob-Amos function allows you to load Bank number 1. This is where your (Bobs) Characters and the program's Icons are stored. The Screen Method function (T-S-1 N/A) has 3 options... 1. Make the sequence suddenly appear - Screen Pause - then Fade out. 2. Fade the sequence in - Screen Pause - then Fade out. 3. Print one letter at a time until the screen is done - Screen Pause - then Fade out. Screen Pause is simply the length of time a screen waits before Fading Out. There is a Pause for option 3 that controls the speed of each character appearing. Numbers 4 and 5 are the normal speed. Cast On/Off: You can turn the cast Off/On and keep the cast for later use or you can turn the cast Off completely. To toggle the Cast On/Off just enter your cast names and then use the Post-Menu to switch your Cast Off/On. To turn the Cast Off completely just press icon 1. Colours: I've split the colour settings into two parts. L.Col and P.Col. L means Letters and P means Picture. Note: if your setting is more than 16 when you switch to the Fade Method, your setting will automatically go down to 16, as this is the maximum fade number. (T-S-1 N/A). Time: There is a routine in the program that uses your clock allowing you you to calculate the time of your sequence. The routine gives you a Start time and a End time, so you will have to calculate the time yourself. This couldn't be helped as there is no way I can set your clock to 00:00:00 for timer purposes from within Amos. However, I hope the routine is of some help to you. There is a Off/On button for those who don't have a clock, etc. Display: You can move the screen display around in the X and Y positions. This function doesn't highlight the screen so you will need to know what co-ords your Television (or Monitor) uses. Memory: If you use the Erase Memory function you will not be able to Save your items because the memory banks your items use will be erased. You will still be able to use your items though. Space: You can set the space between each letter with a value from 1 to 9. I could have made the range bigger, but I thought the standard space is usually 8 or less so I didn't bother. Besides, a space of more than 9 pixels between each letter would only limit the amount letters you can have on the screen even further. There's a condition to 'Space' and thats that you have to alter the space setting before loading or entering any Main Titles and Names, Cast Names, The Cast Title and/or Set Titles. This is because the program checks the above items against the 'Space' setting to make sure they will fit on the screen. The default setting for 'Space' is 6. This belongs to T-T-2's Set Titles, so if you want to change the Space setting for these Set Titles you must first change the Space setting and then re-load the Set Titles. If you alter the 'Space' setting lower or higher than your items normal value then your items may not be in the center of the screen This is because your Cast Title, Cast Names and Names are always checked to see if they fit onto the screen, but your Set Titles are only checked when you load them in - This is because checking them all the time would slow the program down and because they only need checking once to see they fit onto the screen. So if you want to change the Space setting for your Set Titles (To Auto-Center them) you will have to follow this order... Set the Space setting, Load your Letter Width Sizes (If need be) and then load your Set Titles. Gap Keys: The Gap Keys are there to cut down on key pressing. For example with the Gap Total set to 1, if you wanted to change a Name Position from 100 to 300 then you would simply set the Gap Total to 100 and press the Name Position button twice to reach 300, rather than pressing it 200 times to reach 300 when the Gap Total is set to 1. Many of the program messages, etc, have been cut short, I.e Size instead of Letter Width Size - Pos instead of Position, simply because there wasn't enough room on the screen. If you Load some Main Titles and Names (whilst still on the Main Menu part of the program) you can go to the Main Menu and add other Main Titles and Names to the END of those you've just loaded in. Don't type in your sequence and then Load in some Main Titles and Names because you will overwrite the sequence you've just typed in. The above only applies to your Main Titles and Names, you cannot add Cast Names to loaded in Cast Names. ======================== Testing the program... ======================== 1. Load Titles & Names - Filename is 'Test' Load a Screen - Filename is 'Test' Load a Cast - Filename is 'Test' 2. Hit the 'Test/Play' Icon with your Left Mouse Key and follow the prompts. Note: The Screen Filename for T-T-2 Lowres is 'Test-16' or 'Test-32'. Test-16 is to show how the fade looks and Test-32 is to show the other Screen Methods. When the sequence has finished you will be presented with a small menu. This gives you the following choices... Re-Run the sequence - Do I need to say more! The Edit menu - calls back the edit menu allowing you to re-edit ya sequence The Post-Production menu - calls back the post-production menu allowing you to load/save new names, titles, etc. Go back to the main menu - This goes back to the main menu and resets every- thing. You can type in new names, pick another Cast title, etc. So, as you can see, the first part of the program is really for things like typing in your names, picking your cast title, etc. Whereas the second part (after your sequence has been shown) is for the editing side of things. You can edit your sequence before of course, if you already know your positions, fade speed, etc, but on the whole it's best to edit afterwards just in case you've made a typing error! ====================================== Please take note of the following... ====================================== There is no Reset button for the Cast Names menu. If you make a mistake when you're in the menu just finish your Cast Names entry (by entering any old rubbish) and then simply re-enter the Cast Names menu to start again. I have not disabled the Break key so if you need to exit the program you can use the program's Quit option or press CTRL and C. To exit 'Packer' just press CTRL and C. To make a new disk up just put 8 Drawers on your new disk and name them the same as mine. I.e. Progs, Pictures, Titles, etc. You can call the Disk what ever you like because T-T-2 always looks at 'DF0:'. So you could call it 'Weddings' or 'Birthdays' etc. ============== Filenames... ============== I've only given you 15 characters for your filename because it's a bit naff for example, having to type in a filename of 20 characters or more everytime you need to load/save something...isn't it?!! I advice you to set your filename something like the following... 72Wed9John Where 72 is the number of Titles, etc in your sequence - Wed means your film is a Wedding - 9 is the 'Space' setting and 'John' is the name of your filename or the name of your Wedding Video person, etc. ========== T-S-1... ========== Tele Scroll 1 is slightly different from the Tele Title programs in that it simply scrolls your sequence and has no Screen function. I took the Screen function out so that more scroll methods could be added to the program. I`ve split the Scroll Methods into two parts, Cast Methods and Title Methods. These are not numbered, they are in direction order. I.e. L-R means the bottom half of the screen goes Left and the top half goes Right. All the methods are in Split screen style, except the last one which is a Word Scroller. Margin: This is the gap between the end of a word and the start of the next word (for the Word Scroller Method only). Scroll Speed: This is the speed of your scroll, of course. Note: if you choose the Word Scroller method (WD1) then your speed automatically drops to 12 (if its higher than 12). ============ Finally... ============ If you have any Questions, Comments, Ideas, etc, feel free to write anytime. You will find my address in the 'ME' Icon. Note: Because I cannot trap every error, I will not take any responsibility for the loss or damage of Titles, Names, Pictures and any other data, etc, caused by any of the programs on this disk. =============================================================================
