NOTE: Everything mentioned in this text isn't future any more - every product is available now! march '97 --------------------------------------------------- If you're interested, here's some lookout for the new Catweasels.. The first new version available will be for the Amiga 4000 IDE port. Since many people have their Zorro Slots occupied by GFX cards and SCSI controllers and other stuff, they won't give another slot for a floppy controller. The A4000 version will be available during the first two weeks of december '96. Order them at Vesalia Computer, phone +49 2852 914010 or at blittersoft, phone +44 1908 261 466 The Zorro II Version of the Catweasel will also include some handy features: With 3 (three!) IDE ports on board, it will handle all of your wishes to connect chaep harddrives and Atapi CD-Rom drives. The devices will be programmed by Oliver Kastl, Elaborate Bytes, and the CacheCDFilesystem will be shipped with it. With the autoboot-rom you'll be able to boot from your Catweasel drives, or from harddisk. A local expansion slot will carry an optional I/O module with either 4 serial ports, or two serial ports and a parallel port. I'm expecting the first samples of the Z II version just before Xmas. And now for something completely different... Due to the Tandem controller not being on the market any more, A2000 users have got problems connecting a cheap CD-Rom drive for all those nice Aminet-CDs. Buying a SCSI controller and a drive that meets today's expectations costs about DM 400,-. No good deal if you've just bought a used Amiga 2000 for less that 300 DM. My new AT-controller called "Buddha" for the Zorro II bus with Elaborate bytes software for CD-Roms and harddisks will only cost DM 99,- ! It meets all the needs of the ATA-X3T9 document (which no controller on the market does, AFAIK). The Ports will even be compatible to the NEC CD-Changer! Release date will be early '97. Have fun with your Catweasel, Jens Schönfeld (updated January '97)
