Yes, I'm the same guy who wrote AFTERIMAGE with Kris Rusch (who is also writing a SW novel) -- we did do one more in the series, but it has vanished in the chaos of publishing. Maybe someday it will be published. And to our Internet friends: Why must there be a 'superweapon' in every SW novel? Well, you must not be reading many of the novels, since there are plenty of pages devoted to other villains and antagonists besides just a superweapon. But STAR WARS has a grand tradition of "superweapons" and many of us try to carry on that tradition. For example, you CAN do a Cold War spy thriller without ever mentioning nuclear weapons, but most of them do acknowledge the nuclear threat. Why not a SW novel based on only a few of the main characters and a bunch of new ones? Because when people buy a STAR WARS novel, they expect a STAR WARS novel about the STAR WARS characters. But what you're asking has already been done -- If you want a STAR WARS story about other characters, try the Tales of the Jedi comics, which have none of the main characters, or the X-WING books, which deal with peripheral characters from the films, or the YOUNG JEDI KNIGHTS series, in which the main film characters make only cameo appearances. As for the comments about DARK EMPIRE...I have tried to incorporate that storyline into the "history" of my characters because that's what happened. Remember, the last pieces of the story, EMPIRE'S END, won't be published for a few months yet. I thought the comics really captured the scope and sense of wonder of the films. I'm sorry if some people didn't like them...but some people didn't like my books either, some people didn't like Tim's, some people didn't like the "Ewok Adventures." It's all part of the Star Wars universe. As for kids in the Jedi Academy, remember that the YJK series takes place more than a decade after my JA trilogy; a lot can change in that time. And for calling them "Young *Jedi Knights*" -- you're right, they haven't gone through the ordeals and training yet...but a series title of "Young Jedi Knights in Training" is just a bit too clunky . Why don't I check out the rec.arts. forums, etc -- well, I did for a while but a few of the people there treated me so absolutely rudely that I decided I have better things to do. I spend a lot of time here and on GEnie, and many of my messages are cross-posted. I write a lot of SW material because Lucasfilm likes my work and they keep asking me to write more, and I enjoy doing it. I am also doing several of my own novels, collaborations with Doug Beason, comics, and a novel for the X-FILES series. I'm a much faster writer than many people. And, in general, thanks for all the kind word and comments. Finishing up YJK #5, plotting #6, working on new comics, finishing the X-FILES novel, and more stuff. Personally (cheesy or no), I loved the audio adaptations -- great for making a long car ride seem shorter. No cool pictures, though, so for pure text and visuals you need the comic books. The systems wouldn't accept our full names, so that's what we used. I call Kevin by many endearments, but usually it's "Kevin" to friends and family alike. My family calls me "Bec" and many friends and editors use "Becca" (NEVER, NEVER, NEVER "Becky"). Date: 95-09-04 14:11:18 EDT From: KevReb Posted on: America Online All issues of THE SITH WAR are written, and the artist is drawing #5 right now, so the plan is already set and Ulic's fate is sealed -- that doesn't mean I'll kill him, but it also doesn't mean that there will be more stories about him. If you'll read the lettercol in issue #1, you'll get some ideas of what we may do next, and it's a completely clean slate. Tomdup -- I have given Rebecca a thorough spanking for her careless comment [which she seemed to enjoy] about editors and friends. Any editor who keeps Samuel Adams in his refrigerator will always be a friend of mine. [Gee, that sounds like "Prince Albert in a can..."] And guys...is there any reason why you can't like my books AND like Tim's books? *I* like Tim's books. You can prefer one or the other, but there's no reason to throw rocks back and forth. We're all writing STAR WARS.
