Saving the scene PAGE 01ÿ"ªîðof ™ÿ :SAVING THE SCENE - OR: HOW TO IMPROVE THE CURRENT SITUATIONÿZÿ1OýWell guyz, I just read through D.I.S.C. #5 and want to add some schmrgls (trans-lation: (in German!) Mecker, maul, moser...) to all the things written about thedecaying scene. Ok, I agree with all those who think that people who think thatpeople who sýell software of any kind should be kicked. But, honestly, unlessthere are so many freax who BUY the sold stuff, this evil manner will be kepttill doomsday! Personally I think that "scene" itself has already been destroy-ed. Non-scene-connected guýys like those ominous paper-mag publishers and, ofcourse, "little" freax who don't swap "the" stuff see the scene as a bunch ofcrazed criminals who break the law on and on...Yes, yes, I know I'm talkingbullshit, swapping is piracy, piracy is cýriminality (following the german law),but that's only ONE face of the so-called scene! Let us be honest to yourself(and if you are a swapper), you had such thoughts, too. But why? Well, nowadaysall the groups break records in releasing-speed and shiýt out intro after intro,demo after demo, compacting after compacting just to "release somethin'"! In allsendings I get, there are usually ten (all in all) or more compacts with nearlythe samedemos/tools/games on it. It isn't funny watching all theý same shitagain and again. Demo/Intros are taken from one compacting and put on anotherone...Yes, this is a very bad habbit, isn't it!? BUT: All these shitty actionsdone by several groups are -NO- reason to "kill all swappers" like the sugges-tioný of that guy whose name I forgot. Swappers are the eyes and ears of a groupand how will all the coders, gfx-wizards and half-Mozarts release their greatproductions without those guys sitting in front of their copy-program? I don'tsay this only becaýuse I'm a swapper, I would also survive if I wouldn't swap...Iwould compose more music or just be satisfied with the stuff I already have...And what about FRIENDSHIP? No, not this...?-Movement, the real friendship! Aslong as most of the guys and groups have this bad "so-cool-and-fast-as-possible"-spleen real friendship cannot live.
