The     Textbook     definition     of
metamorphosis   is   'to  change  into
different physical form, especially by
supernatural   means.'   No  one  word
better   describes   this   one   word
phenomen:  CHER.  Few  performers have
risked   as   much  artistically  with
greater   frequency  or  success  than
Cher.   Her career chronology confirms
this fact.

                1965
Sonny  and  Cher  recorded  'I Got You
Babe',  which  tops  the  US Charts in
August, the UK Charts in September and
becomes Sonny and Cher's first million
seller.
                1966
'Bang-Bang', Cher's first solo million
seller,  hits  the US at #2 and the UK
at #3 in April.
                1971
Sonny  and Cher star in 'The Sonny and
Cher   Comedy   Hour'  on  CBS  TV  in
America.   In November 'Gypsys, Tramps
&  Thieves' becomes Cher's second solo
million  selling single and hits #1 in
the US and #4 in the UK.
                1974
'Dark Lady' makes the UK charts at #36
and becomes another #1 million-selling
single in the US.
                1975
The TV series 'Cher', a weekly variety
show,  premiers  in  the  US  with her
first  guests,  Bette Midler and Elton
John.
                1982
Cher  duets  with  Meat  Loaf on 'Dead
Ringer For Love', witch hits #5 in the
UK, and also appears as a guest in the
video.
Cher  opens  on Broadway in 'Come Back
to  the  Five  and  Dime,  Jimmy Dean,
Jimmy Dean', directed by Robert Altman
and  recieves her first motion picture
Golden   Globe   nomination   for  her
portrayal   of  'Sissy'  in  the  film
version.
                1983
Cher  co-stars  with  Meryl Streep and
Kurt Russel in 'Silkwood', directed by
Mike Nichols.  She wins a Golden Globe
Award  for her portrayal of 'Dolly' in
the film.
                1984
Cher   is   nominated  for  her  first
Academy   Award,  as  Best  Supporting
Actress for her role in 'Silkwood'.
                1985
Cher   stars   as  'Rusty  Dennis'  in
'Mask', directed by Peter Bogdanovich.
She  wins  Best  Actress at the Cannes
Film Festival.
                1987
Cher  co-stars  with  Jack  Nicholson,
Michelle Pfeiffer and Susan Saradon in
'The Witches of Eastwick'.
Cher's  first  GEFFEN album, 'Cher' is
released.
'I   Found   Someone',   produced  and
written  by  Michael Bolton, charts in
the  UK  at  #5  after a 14 year chart
absence.
Cher  stars  in  'Suspect' with Dennis
Quaid, directed by Peter Yates.
'Moonstruck',   directed   by   Norman
Jewison, is released in December.
                1988
Cher  wins  an  Academy Award for Best
Actress for her portrayal of 'Lorette'
in  'Moonstruck', and is nominated for
her  second  British Academy Award.
'We  All  Sleep Alone', co-written and
co-produced by Richie Sambora, Jon Bon
Jovi  &  Desmond  Child, charts #47 in
the US and #14 in the UK.
                1989
Her  second  GEFFEN  album,  'Heart Of
Stone', is released and features 'If I
Could  Turn  Back  Time', which is the
first video banned by MTV.  It reaches
#3 in the US and #6 in the UK.
Cher  returns  to  live concerts after
nearly 10 year absence.
                1990
'Just Like Jesse James' reaches #11 in
the  UK  and  #8 in the US.  'Heart of
Stone', the single, reaches #20 in the
US and #43 in the UK.
Cher's  'Heart of Stone' plays to sold
out audiences in 35 US cities, London,
Birmingham and Dublin.
                1991
'Mermaids', starring Cher, Bob Hoskins
and Winona Ryder is released in the UK
and  features  'The  Shoop  Shoop Song
(It's  In  His  Kiss)'.  It reaches #1
position in the UK and stays there for
5 weeks.
Cher's third GEFFEN album 'Love Hurts'
becomes  her  first #1 album ever when
it enters the UK chart at #1 and stays
there for 6 weeks.
'Love  and  Understanding' reaches #10
in the UK charts.
'Save  Up  All  Your Tears', the third
single from the 'Love Hurts' album, is
released in the UK.
                1992
Cher's 'Love Hurts' concert tour plays
to sold-out audiences in 12 countries.
The  album  'Love  Hurts' is certified
triple platinium in the UK.
Cher's  'Greatest Hits:  1965-1992' is
released   featuring  'Oh  No  Not  My
Baby',   Whenever  You're  Near',  and
'Many Rivers to Cross'.

She is a one of a kind force.
