     THE KING

 Well  8th  of January is closing, and
on  that  day  in  1935,  the  king of
rock'n'roll was born.

 That  is the man that has changed the
pop  music  more than anyone else, but
he  is  also  the  man  who spread the
black  be-bop  music  of the South all
over   the  world.   He  was  a  rebel
figting    against    old    fashioned
conservative  America, and has won the
battle.   But not just for himself but
also  for  Little  Richard,  J.Joplin,
J.Hendrix,  he  has  showed the way to
Beatles, Stones and many others.
 And  this  commemoretive  article  is
just a reminder of this great man.

 Do  you know anyone who has not heard
an  Elvis's song.  Just to remind you:
Heartbreak Hotel, Hound Dog, Jailhouse
Rock  and his  later hits:  Suspicious
Minds,  In The Ghetto, Don't Cry Dady,
and, of course, Always On My Mind.
 I don't want to tell you the story of
Elvis,  I guess you have already heard
it,  seen  in one of many movies about
him, or read in a book about him.
 What I would like to tell you is that
he  was  a  singer.  His voice was the
only  saint  to  him, and it has never
let him down.
 No matter what he was doing, screwing
around,  getting  fixed, drunk, he was
always a singer.
 He  had  his rises and his falls.  He
had the most fans at the moment of his
death, but now he is famous because of
his early songs.
 Why?  Well in mid 50s Rock'n'roll was
IN.  The charts was strictly R'n'R and
that  was  the  time  of  his  ruling.
Later  he turned to the screen, he had
no  concerts,  and then he went to the
army.
 When  he  returned,  R'n'R was not IN
any  more, it was the hippy time.  But
Elvis  tried  to  make  a  way through
those   longhaired   tramps.   He  has
turned  to  his  voice.   And  in that
period  his  best hits were made.  The
lovesongs,  but also the social songs,
and  many  other  kinds.   This period
ends   with   his   most  known  song,
dedicated  to  his wife, song that was
supposed  to  save  his marriage, with
Always On My Mind.
 From  then  on  all  the  way  to his
death,  his  popularity  was  growing.
But,  it  didn't stop there, it didn't
fall.  Elvis is still IN.
 There are some SUSPICIOUS MINDS about
his   death.   But  this  is  what  is
certain:  GENTLE ON OUR MIND, The King
is MOVIN' ON.
