They have been on scene for more than 20 years, and in that time they have made their vision of hard-rock which gave them opportunity to survive for long time. Their newest album "Pump" become famous because of two really good singles "Love In An Elevator" & "Janie's Got A Gun". They started in 1971, when they left their hometown Boston with one "mission" - to organise concerts for masses of people. In the time when MTV was not yet "invented", the only way of success was to play as often as they could and to hope that among their fans was editor who will come to them after concert and who will offer them contract for album. Joe Parry remembers of those days: "At the time when rock music was completely new industry, it was practically impossible to get a contract if you were only sitting and playing in Boston. You should go to New York to audition. We played our songs in downtown schools because we couldn't accept the performance in the center of town; they wanted us to be better then top-hits. Boston people weren't interested for Blues so English bands haven't been coming to make concerts at all. We didn't know anyone, we haven't been playing in clubs, we were outsiders like some English group. In clubs musicians played all night, and in about 6 years of that kind of life they were practically dead for job. We "pushed" our idea and when our first LP showed in shops, we've already had our fans, so our concerts were always sold out." Gold time of "Aerosmith" lasted right then; since early- to the middle-seventies, to be precise year 1976 when their album "Rocks" was published. After that album everything fades away. Group is turning to alcohol & partys, and they don't think about music at all any more. Taylor and Parry were compared with famous duo Jegger-Richards and they were named "Toxic Twins". "We were putting everything possible in our organysm" - says Taylor "and graduatelly we were loosing feeling for reality. Then we decided to stop that shit so our next album "Permanent Vacation" was our first one made without influence of alcohol. Then we started to think only about music. I'm glad that kids can learn on our example, and if they listen us, they could avoid many fatal mistakes." Reborn, "Aerosmith" prooved their quality with album "Pump". That's the real example of present-time hard rock. On start they were, like they say, usuall album group like "Led Zeppelin". With new album they both came back to that tradition, and they are very proud of it. "We starte recording at November 1. 1988, and we finished it at March 3. 1989. Every day except Sunday, we were going to studio, playing and recording. Every day we were coming with new ideas, sometimes with complete song. One month after we started putting little parts in one. Most difficult part was writing words for songs," says Taylor "but some of these we wrote very fast. I've had an idea to put as many unusual instruments on album as we can find. Accidently we met a guy that collects these instruments from all parts of world. He had some from Peru and he played these very good. Joe and I selected 10 crazyest instruments and we've spend all day improvising & playing on these. What we recorded was used as instrumental introduction in album. When we've finally had a record we started to put songs in order in which they will bw printed, and then I realised that most of kids will choose the best songs and record these on tape. Because of that "whole album is a party", so people won't stop the tape recorder while our tape plays." In seventies, Iggy Pop was named as father of punk music, today very often is taylor mentioned as father of Hard-rock. "I admit that i am sometimes imbaressed when I reed something like that.
