NORWAY SCENE REPORT çddf,faa,afa,aaf,faf,ffa,aff ³ NORWEGIAN SCENE REPORT ½======================== ¼ Written by Mace/Talent ² As most of you know, Norway has been voted as best scene in many charts and maybe some of you wonder, why? Well, in this article, I'll try to describe some facts by writing a bit about the most active groups in Norway, that I have heard of. Sorry if any groups are forgotten.. ¢ ANDROMEDA ¹ I think this is the most talented group in Norway nowadays. Their loss of 4 members: Lizard, Moxy, Blazer and Duel is not a big problem for this group. They have enough talented people to solve this problem. And I bet they will come back better and better! They always have brilliant design and stunning code which fit well together. Hey guys! When do you release your next demo, "Sequential"? ³Productions: D.O.S, Point Blanc, Multica, Mind Riot, Mirror, many intros! ²Famous members: Mr.Hyde, HeadX, Hydra, Dr.Jekyll, Mr.Man, Fairfax, and Decker... ¢ SPACEBALLS ¹ They have won two big parties with original ideas, but not so impressive code.. Rumours say that Lone Starr makes his incredible vectors in Real 3d! Anyway, it's just rumours, so.... ¶They have also got the RAW staff, so this group will be one of Norways' leading forces as long as they have the fantastic RAW magazine! ³Productions: Wayfarer, State of the Art, Mobile, RAW. ²Famous Members: Lone Starr, Kingpin, Lord Helmet, Yoghurt, Vinnie , TMB Designs, Travolta... ¢ PURE METAL CODERS ¹ An old, maybe the oldest group in Norway today. Their loss of the RAW staff made this GREAT group a bit weaker.. But I beleive there are still some active members left, but it has been very silent lately. Rumours say that they are dead.... This was my favourite group, and now they're gone...snufs... Well, let's hope that they will come back! Rumours say that this group will die pretty soon! Hope not... ³Productions: Alpha and Omega I & II, RAW, some intros... ²Famous members: Peter Salomonsen, Cocy, Rattle, and Ramjet.. ¢ STONE ARTS ¹ A new group formed by two well known groups like Cryptoburners and Atomic. They have already released two demos, and they run a disk-mag called: "Headline". The first issue is already published! Very nice indeed.. ¶³Productions: Atmosphere, One-file demo and Headline! ²Famous members: Dolphin, Coke, Hugo, BCR, Syntex, Mutant, and Ken. ¢ MAJIC 12 ¹ This group has many divisions, and they have also got a Norwegian one. They haven't really released anything except their famous diskmag: "Top Secret". I have heard that a music disk will be out soon, with music by B.I.T! They have also divisions in Sweden, Hungary, France, Denmark and Australia. ³Productions: Some intros(?) and Top Secret. ²Famous members: Dive, B.I.T, Mr.Frenzy.. ¢ EQUINOX ¹ I haven't heard so much about them, but I've seen their latest production called, Hardweird. Very nice! I really hope to hear more from them in the future. I also heard once that the norwegian division was taking over the European Top 20 from the Swedes, but those rumours were probably wrong. ³Productions: Hardweird (dentro) ²Famous members: Fake, Elfin, and Nethead. ¢ CRUSADERS ¹ This is an old famous group which was once upon a time very famous. People still remember them, but they haven't released anything lately except the ¶party-invit. for Gathering'93! They have recently lost their talented member Jason to Lemon. Rumours say that he's member of both Lemon. and CRS. They are still famous because of arranging Gatherings. Well, I've heard that they also will arrange Gathering'94, but I hope with better success! I miss a bit the old Crusaders with the Official Eurochart, Dr.Awesome etc., but I understand their situation.. And since I'm very good to look into the future, I bet they will release a demo at Gathering 1994! Maybe Conjuring Tricks II? ³Productions: Eurochart, music-disks, intros etc. ²Famous members: Dr.Outtasight, Black Panther, Dr.Awesome (DENS Design), Bustman... ¢ TALENT ¹ As a member of this group, I'll try to describe it as an non-member.... This group does also as Spaceballs do, only releasing their demos at parties! Strange, eh? Well, they have become a very productive group. And just let's hope that they keep it that way. Talent is a 3 year-old group, and has about 20 members. (Too many?) Included the guys who joined from Destiny UK. Talent has now taken over their disk- mag called Satanic Rites, but the name will maybe be changed! They will perhaps release "Q.E.D II" at the Gathering 1994!! ³Productions: Q.E.D (demo), Panta Rhei (demo), three intros, and two dentros. ¶²Famous members: Stripe the gremlin, Android, El Loco, Sundance Kid, Tantalus...(Sorry guys! I just can't mention you all....) ¢ CADAVER ¹ This froup has got a lot of members, but too many untalented ones.. This group is also not one of the elder ones... I have heard so much about their coming productions, but they haven't released a thing yet, except an intro at Rendezvous. Be shure, they have some very talented musicians!! Try their boards! ³Productions: Intro (2nd place at Rendezvous) ²Famous members: Trauma, Tyrant, Mr.T, and Dr.Backup. ¢ LEGEND ¹ The norwegian division is pretty new, but I'm not so shure about their work in the demo-scene. Haven't seen anything from them yet. Oh, I almost forgot to tell you that they have some funny game-bootblocks! They also have a division in Finland, too. I'm not so shure about this group, but I believe they have some talented members! ³Productions: An intro (?) ²Famous members: Lord Zero, Kefir. ¢ CRYPTOBURNERS ¹ This is really an old group with many talented people. I have heard that they were almost to release a demo at ¶the Gathering 1993, but it never came. After such a long time of silence it would have been great to hear that they're back! They have also lost some members to Stone Arts, but I think they have enough members to finish their demo anyway. ³Productions: Hunt For The Red October and some intros. ²Famous members: Tech, Vishnu, Walkman.. ¢ TMG ¹ An old group with many unserious people... I bet they have the record of oldest members average! ³Productions: Intros ²Famous members: Merlyn, King Arthur (the father of Mr.Frenzy/M12!) ... ¢ BALANCE ¹ A new div. formed by Frogs! Not much to say, but they have a brilliant mag called: "Upstream"! Keep up the brilliant work guys! ³Productions: Intros, and Upstream Sound-Barrier. ²Famous members: Blaze, Ranx, Cesium. ¢ AVALON ¹ This is a group that is not so old, but it has some serious members, and I think we'll hear more from this group later on. Ranked as 2nd in a norwegian computer magazine called: Amiga Forum. ³Productions: Out Of Time(demo), Intros ²Famous members: Typhoon, Aragorn, Shine, and Zak. ¶¢ NETWORK ¹ This must be the oldest group in Norway! It was formed in 1986, but some years later they died... And now they are back!! Some rumours claim that Jogeir Liljedahl will probably join them! A strong group with old famous musicians will return! I have heard that they are working on a disk-mag, too. ³Productions: In this year, only one intro. ²Famous members: Ketil Jensen, Felix. ¢ DUAL CREW ¹ The norwegian division is back! It seems that the old norwegian scene returns! After some hard time in army or maybe prison? He,he.. Didn't Corny recently leave for the Army? Well, this group is just great! They have also divisions in many other lands, too. Their intro with a Kefrens 10000 dots cube was very nice! Nice music! ³Productions: An intro. ²Famous members: Corny & Codeman (Co Co Arts) ¢ BANANA DESIGN ¹ A brand new group formed by It ex. Cryptoburners. As always a new parody on Melon Dezign. ³Productions: None ²Famous members: It, Micro-pal, Jelace, Brainbug, Necro and Saracen. ¶¢ LEMON. ¹ This is also a brand new division formed by ex. members from Andromeda: Lizard, Moxy, Blazer and Duel. Lemon has also divisions in Holland and Denmark! I think this group will become very good! However, I haven't seen anything from them yet.. ³Productions: None ²Famous members: Lizard, Moxy, Blazer, Duel and Jason. ¢ NOISELESS ¹ I don't know that much about this crew, but they have such a great musician called: Jogeir! By the way, he won the music-competition at Rendezvous with a very nice guitar song! I wonder when Dizzy Tunes II will be released?! ³Productions: Dizzy Tunes (Co-op with Silents) ²Famous members: Jogeir Liljedahl ¼Other Norwegian groups that are alive, and that I haven't seen so much from: Impulse, Infect, Iris, Compact Inc, Decnite, TSB, Wizzcat, Symbiosis, Shamrock.. ¹Through many years in the Norwegian scene, I can tell you that there were many groups that were excellent, but unfortunately, they died.. Razor 1911, The Silents, Amonia, The Hard Sector, Paragon, Offence, LSD, Vision, Panoramic Design (?)...
