\N2\P2\C2\LN\LF\CT\F6\C3THE MASTER OF TECHNO\C2\LF\LN\LF\F4\FU\C1GIN / DUAL CREW - Every Techno lover's Biggest idol\LF\LF \C3\F1You won the Biggest prize for a music competition till now at Gathering 92, how much?\LF\LF \C2Well I didn't get all that money that they had announced with, instead I got a CDTV-adapter for A500 worth $400\LF\LF \C3Many musicians don't think Techno is music at all!?? Do you think that all those who voted for you at the party don't know what music is all about?\LF\LF \C2Absolutely not. I'm sure that they knows just as much about music as every normal people do.\LF\LF I know that many musicians don't like \C1Techno music\C2 and that they don't see it as what they prefer to call real music, but in that case they're making a \C1big mistake\C2 because Techno is just as much music as all other kinds of music.\LF\LF You don't get a record contract just because you make music that is good and is filled with a lot of technical work, you need to make that kind of music that the \C1audience\C2 want and that the record company think can sell.\LF\LF \C3Did you make the Techno module just because you wanted it yourself. Or was it that you knew that this would be your best chance to win at the party? \LF\LF \C2Of course I did it because I wanted to. I don't make music that I don't want to (I don't think that anyone else does either). Well one of my friends said that he thought that \C1I would win\C2 the music competition, but I really didn't thought that I would have chance to win that music competition until they had played my song.\LF\LF \C1The biggest reason\C2 to why I competed with that module was that I felt that I just had to hear it \C1from their huge music setup.\C2 You see that there is one thing that\C1 separates Techno music from ordinary music\C2 and that is that you're not only supposed to hear the music, you're also supposed to\C1 feel it in you're chest,\C2 feel how the \C1drums and basses shakes you from the inside\C2, you need to be touched by it to understand it.\LF\LF I know that there are many people out there who also makes Techno music and does it real good because it sounds like Techno, but in many of those cases they have forgot that it's not only how it\C1 sounds\C2 that matters you should be able to feel it to.\LF\LF When I heard Techno music for the first time I though just the same as many others think, that it was just a \C1bunch of crap\C2 and I didn't like it at all. But then one day when I was over at my friends place he played it in the right way as it should be played (very loud) for me, and I guess it was then I got touched by it, and already the next day I had to \C1admit to my friend\C2 that I liked it.\LF\LF But there will always be some people that never is gonna like the Techno music, just as some people don't like Jazz music. I've tried many times to listen to this real \C1heavy Jazz music\C2 in all kinds of ways that I can think of but I still don't like it.\LF\LF \C3Do you think that your module could be a success at some discos?\LF\LF \C2I dont know, maybe if I made a midi version of it or remixed it in stereo. But a success? Who knows...\LF\LF \C3Morten H. Said in RAW 3 that the music should be made for the audience not to impress yourself or other musicians with techinal work! Do you agree?\LF\LF \C2Yes I do. Music don't have to be complicated to be good, just take a group like Roxette, they don't make this difficult music but they have been the nr.1 on the USA hit charts for more than one time.\LF\LF I think that the audience knows enough about music to seperate the real bad from the good, and at the end it is the audience that decides if they want to hear the music or not. And one of the reasons of making music is not just to please yourself but even try to make somethig that other people like and feel that they want to listen to.\LF\LF It is just the same with music as with movies, You read the review of a movie and it says that it is one of the best film ever created and that it must be the film of the year and stuff like that, but when you go and see it, it really sucks and you just want to kill that guy who wrote that review.\LF\LF \C3Who are your favourite musicians both on and off the Amiga ?\LF\LF \C2That question is hard to answer because I have so many, both on and off the Amiga. And I listen to almoste all kinds of music exept the heavy jazz. But I can make a little list. \C1On the Amiga:\C2 Chris Huelsbeck, Uncle Tom, Bjorn Lynne, FireFox and Tonic \C1Off the Amiga:\C2 Elvis Presley, Ugly kid Joe, AC-DC, Joe Satriani Snap and ZZ-Top\LF\LF Here we got it again don't we, I mean Elvis. You can't really say that his music is very complicated but still people all over the world love him, both young and old. Some of you probably think that I can't compare Elvis with Techno but as you saw I just did. And if you think after real hard I'm sure that you will get to the point.\LF\LF \C3Which module is the Best module you have heard on the Amiga? \LF\LF \C2Don't know, I've heard so many real good modules. But for some examples the loader tune by \C1Bit arts\C2 to Sanity's music demo Turmoil, an old tune by \C1Uncle Tom\C2 called Poseidon, Macrocsm by FireFox, Abcent mind made by my friend Tonic, SolenSkiner II also made by Tonic, in this song we're talking about real hard technical work, there are few persons who make music with such a feeling as Tonic does, all he would need is a synth so he could get some better samples. Those are just a few of all the very best tunes I've heard.\LF\LF \C3How many hours did you spend on making your Techno Song?\LF\LF \C2I dont remember but I know that I spend atleast a week on it, doing a little bit now and a little bit then, and I always work on two or three songs at a time so somtimes, normaly I make one or two songs in two weeks. It \C1depends on which mood\C2 I'm in some times I make a module in just one day. One example of that is when I recently made a new tune called Mind Traveller which is what I would call a demo song that hasn't been released yet. I made that one within ten hours of hard working and the only break I had was when I had to go to pie or when I had to eat. How long it takes to make a new song depends on many things, sometimes even the easiest music can take a bit of time to finish. And as a matter of fact it's sometimes even \C1harder to make an easy tune\C2 than it is to make a complicated one.\LF\LF \C1\CT\XX
