AIn  this  article  I  will write about
what  happens when my group (MLM) and I
play  AD&D  together.   If you consider
start  playing  roleplaying  games, you
can  make  your  decision after reading
this article.  O.K, off we go:
I'm  the  dungeonmaster,  the  guy  who
controls  the game (and monsters), make
scenarios for the group and has to know
every  rule  in  the game.  In my group
there  are 2 fighters, 1 mage, 1 cleric
and  1 thief.  I have tried to remember
some  eventsfrom one of our games.  The
party is just entering a hallway with 4
doors   on   the   wall.   Here's  what
happens:
"Shit, what door do we choose?", X-ray,
the  fighter,  asks.  "Hey, look at the
wall,  a  message!",  replies  the mage
Tornar.   There's  a  plaque  with  the
words:   One  door  leads  to  yet more
dangers,  the  others  to  your  doom".
"Sure  thing", Q says (the leader), "We
aint'  afraid of this shit, are we?  No
I  didn't  thought  so  either.  Alrina
(fighter)  and  Drax  (thief), you take
the  first  door!".  "WHAT, shall WE go
in   there?",  Alrina  replies.   "Yeah
sure,  do  you  have  anything  against
it?".  "Ehh, no of course not.".  "Well
then..".  The two partymembers now open
the  (oak)  door,  and  enter the room.
Suddenly  a ironwall close the door and
the  walls begin to move toward the two
unfortunate adventurers.  "SHIT" Alrina
says,"do something QUICK, Drax!".  "Oh,
uhh,  eh,  what should I do?".  "Arrgh,
deactivate  the  trap,  FAST!".  "Yeah,
sure,  I'll  try  it".   "What  are  my
chances  of finding the trap mechanism,
Darkhawk?"(that's  me).   "Well,  let's
see.   You  have two minutes before the
walls   makes   you   simmilar   to   a
bloodpudding.   You have to score under
6%  with  the  100%  dice  (not easy)".
While  this  is  going  on,  Alrina  is
searching  for an exit, but finds none.
She's   starting   to  panic  (she's  a
coward)  and  is of no use now.  "Well,
O.K, I search for the trap", Drax says.
"O.K,  remember,  if  you don't succed,
you  two  are  dead  meat,  heh (I LOVE
being  mean  to the party!)!".  And, it
really succeded (Drax has bragged about
it even since).
Later  on  they were fighting the big &
mean dragon.  Drax and Q rushed forward
to  meet  it  with  their sword and Q's
spells.  X-Ray and Alrina sneaked in on
it  from  both  sides.  The mage Tornar
had  to  play  volley,  so  he  was not
present   (?).    Anyway,   the  dragon
immidiatly  discovered  Drax & Q.  This
is  the  thing  I  enjoy most about the
game.  Planning a big encounter for the
party,  and then do everything I can do
make  it  hard  for them.  This is what
happened  at this meeting:  As I wrote,
Drax and Q charged forward.  Sadly, the
dragon   breathed   at   them,   and  Q
immidiatly  died while Drax could stand
it a bit longer, but then he also died.
Now the two fighters were alone against
the  raving  dragon.   I  couldn't stop
myself,  I smiled all over the face and
enjoyed   the  situation  tremendously.
The   two  fighters  were  scared,  and
didn't   fight  too  well  against  the
dragon.   X-Ray  ended  up  pretty  bad
while  Alrina  fought bravely.  Anyway,
it  would  be a very tough fight, where
at  least another one were going to die
before    the    dragon   got   slayed.
Therefore  I  was  still very happy and
bragged  about  how  tough  this dragon
was.   But  then  it  happened,  Alrina
slashed  her  sword  right  through the
dragons neck and made body and head two
different   parts.    O.K,  now  Alrina
bragged  even more about this than Drax
did   about  his  accomplishment.   Now
Alrina    changed   from   a   cowardly
character into a wild young girl.  Drax
&  Q  got ressurected by a friendly god
(called     Darkhawk,    my    previous
character), but because Darkhawk didn't
like the god Q worshipped (Morg), Q had
to  give  give one of his fingers (just
for  fun).   Later on he loosed another
one  (in  a undersea temple on a little
island)  but  he still is the leader of
the  force,  eventhough  some  elements
have   thought   about  displacing  him
(violently).
Who knows, if you are interested I will
maybe write some more articles about my
groups adventures.
Anyway,  I  hope you enjoyed this small
view  of how a AD&D game could develop,
