I decided to react to that load of rubbish. For me there are three types of persons in- habiting the scene at free will: @3@41. the total lamer (no comment) 2. the pleasure-seaker 3. the cracker @1@4Categories two and three are as follows: @3No.3@1 on the list is not a member of the scene for his pleasure only. Business is more important for him, he makes money out of other people's work (I'm not accusing it!). He choose for this so leave him in peace. Or does Backlash want the scene to be exactly like he wished? Full of nice people, everybody at the same level as he is? Nope. Impossible. Well, no.2 is the person I like. He joins the scene at @5free@4 will and is ready to invest time and @4money@3 in it. How long have you been in the scene, Backlash? Getting @2moneyproblems@1, or are you just a little bit slow learning? You could have noticed years before that being a scenemember costs money and time, so why did you start it at all? Well, so the pleasure-seaker joined a group or whatever and naturally thinks this is the best group there is and that their coder is the best there is and and... Lame, lame! The other members of your group are trying as hard as you to keep friendship in tact, and not the hard work! You notice that in so called @5real@4 teams (which release nothing, because they are too busy drinking and doing other things!). No, it doesn't work that way at all. Everybody in a group should have a function, and should be able to do his job. Business before pleasure? No, but just to ensure that the atmosphere is not destroyed because in the end the members are such good friends that they are starting to hate each other. @T,0,aca,cdc,J @1@4A friendship in the scene is based upon two things: @21) in the group itself@1, and @22) outside the group:@1 contact between various groups. You can consider yourself lucky if you have a lot of swapping-friends who all are xcopy-clones. That's not the way it works. @5Real@4 friends are guys with whom you can share also different thoughts than computers only. It takes a lot of time to find them, but finders keepers, remember! Patience is the golden word. It took @3me 3 years to build a decent contact-network@1 and I'm not satisfied yet at all. @T,0,db8,dfa,J @1Visiting parties is for people who have the interest to meet friends. Only lamers take their computer with them and sit behind it all day with nothing else but a pile of disx and xcopy. Why did they leave home in the first place to come there? The building differs from their room, that's all. @2Real freaks@1 (hate that word) come together and have a good chat. It will be easy to spot the best available friends. They will be doing the same like you, this means @5not@4 staring at the monitor and probably pretending like they're bored. People who walk around with huge signs all over them saying who they are are perhaps a little bit too pathetic: there are other ways to meet your friends. Examples: when you have already met a friend earlier it's easy, you know how he looks and he knows how you look. Also you might have told before what you look like. And you might start to realize why you walk around like that on a party. Are you so fond of lamers saying: Oooh, that's @3xx of xx@1... @T,0,da9,cba,Y @1Is there a law ordering you to visit parties? Nope. Don't go if you don't feel like. I myself have been to several '@2parties@1' and I never regretted being there. Of course, right after the party you feel disappointed, you met only half or less of the people you wanted to meet, you didn't get the stuff you wanted, and all that. But after some time (great capacity of the human mind: it stores the good memories and forgets the worse ones) you'll appreciate it, and realize that it wasn't a waste of money. @T,0,9c9,bbe,D @1Being @2drunk on a party @1and messing things up? That's all part of it. There are always people who act like that when they're drunk (hello, hello Djhead). You'll have to live with it. And when you organize a party like that, you have to realize that this can and @5will@4 happen. Why be pissed off about it. You can't help it. I don't really understand the fun of being drunk (because I always realize what will come the next day), but if someone feels lucky in a de- lirium, let him @3booze@1 in peace. @2Police@1 is cool for picking up weirdo's you know... @T,0,cc8,eea,L @1After all, scene is great. There are various things to point out why it's so cool: You have the ability to write with people from all over the world sharing the same interests like you have (and I mean not only computer!). You improve your @2language@1. You get to know how to work under @2stressy situations@1, and learn to take orders (if you're not WHQ). You see the results @3of some months of hard work @1 and appreciate it more when you've done something for it. By pumping in money your collection of disx grows rapidly. And that's my weak side: collecting demos. Other people collect @23-zero figures@1 on @3telephone bills@1 (fine with me). @T,0,7bd,9ce,H @1Diskmagazines play a very important role in it all. It's tremendous fun to organize it and write for it. It's also the big disappointment when only a few guys are willing to help out. But these people are real friends. And when you take a closer look at them you will notice that the group they're in doesn't even matter anymore. Who cares about the boaster saying: 'I joined the @2coolest group@1 in the world', because who says a group is cool? Most of the time you deserve to be in that cool group, but what if you get kicked? You'll be a zero again. Better be yourself and prove that you're @2needed @1and willing to give everything you've got instead of switching the group more times than you switch your underwear. @T,0,aab,ccf,P @1OK. I could go on for hours but it's enough now. Why? Why not. I'm free to do what I want. So @2scene @1might be lame... for me it's not. It gives me satisfaction and fun. I couldn't live without it for at least some years. And so can't @2Backlash@1, because why else is he staying so involved? @3@4 CYBERSONIK OF ALCATRAZ
