Yes,  as  we  promised  before,  RAW
returns  to  the  world  of É Stephen
KingÈ,  a  fantastic,  yet horrifying
world of terror and fantasy !

This time we will present to you the
book  "The  Stand - the complete and
uncut  edition".   If  you  read  my
presentation  of Stephen King in the
last issue, you might know that this
book  was first released in 1978 and
that parts of the story was then cut
down   by   the   publisher.   Well,
Stephen  King  recently  decided  to
re-release   the   book   with  it's
original  material.   In addition to
that,     the    book    also    has
illustrations  and  the king himself
has  written  a preface, in which he
explains  why he has re-released the
book.  The result:  A gigantic piece
of work with almost É1.500 pages !È

The Story 
È
"The  Stand"  is  about the superflu
virus   É"Captain  Trips"È.   "Captain
Trips"  is  extremely contagious and
in  addition....lethal.  98 per cent
of   the   world   population   gets
infected  and everyone of them dies.
The   biggest   catastrophe  in  the
world's history is a fact...

"Captain   Trips"  is  a  result  of
American   research,   and   it   is
supposed  to  be  used in a possible
chemical    warfare.     After    an
accident,   the   virus  is  quickly
spread around in the country.  Large
efforts and violent methods are used
to  try  to stop it, but without any
result.

"The Stand" follows the life of some
of  the American survivors and their
struggle  to  find  each  other.  As
often  in  Stephen  King's  books we
meet a large set of characters, each
one  of  them with their own special
personality:    a   deaf   mute,   a
criminal, a pregnant girl, a rock 'n
roll  singer  and more.  In addition
to  these quite "normal" characters,
we  meet  the  mysterious  and  evil
Randall  Flagg,  which  some  of you
readers might recognize from another
Stephen  King book, "The Eyes of the
Dragon".   Flagg is the "bad guy" in
"The Stand" and he tries to make the
survivors to his disciples, in order
to  be  the sole ruler of the planet
Earth.   The  rest  you have to read
yourself.

Large character-set, interesting and
exciting  story, nice illustrations.
A  supplement  to those who read the
1978-edition    of    "The   Stand".
Because  of  it's  length  it is the
perfect  thing  to  have on cold and
windy  winter  evenings.  After all,
you  can't  sit  in  front  of  your
fucking   computer   all  the  time.

The  story is very long, which might
result in boredom on some occasions.

If  you  like  other  material  from
Stephen  King,  you  will  certainly
enjoy  this  one  !   For  those who
haven't read anything of him before,
it might be a good idea to check out
the  1978-edition  (if  you can find
it!) instead of this book.



ÉPS  !È   There  are  also  rumours of
turning "The Stand" into movie, with
Sean "James Bond" Connery one of the
leading parts.
