FUTURE SCANNING SYSTEMS PO BOX 654 BARTLESVILLE OK 74003 tel 918-333-7474 THIS DISK MAY BE FREELY DISTRIBUTED During developement of version 2 of SCAN a bug crept in that may cause SCAN to lock up after the speech has been used for some time. This has been corrected, and an updated version is on this disk. Some minor additions have also been made, see below for more details. SCAN RELEASE 2.03 12/21/91 Changes From The Manual: Speed: Scan will now run at over 2100 channels per minute at the fastest speed. Sorts: SCAN requires at least 350K of free ram to sort the largest size frequency files with full comments; the manual says 300K. The AmigaDos "SORT" command needs to be in the C: directory (It normally is unless you have deleted it) Fonts: The Diamond 12 font needs to be in the fonts: directory for the mode gadget text; it is supplied with WorkBench and is normally there unless you have deleted it. Keys: The 'A' key has the same effect as clicking on the ADD gadget and the 'E' key is the same as clicking on the EDIT gadget. Printer: Another menu item, Printer has been added. This allows each hit to be sent out to the default printer. Like most other settings the default printer status may be saved and loaded via the configuration file. SCAN RELEASE 2.06 1/24/92 A bug which could cause lockups after extended speech corrected. A rare problem when running under WB1.3 fixed (caused occasional crashes on startup). Hangs caused by 3rd party window flipping programs corrected. Volume: The speech volume level is now adjustable, it may be set by manually changing the VOLUME setting in the configuration file. Save the configuration from version 2.06 of SCAN and the VOLUME setting will appear in the .cfg file. (0 is off, 63 is the maximum volume) Rate: Similar to volume but for speech rate. (40 to 400) Pitch: Similar to volume but for speech pitch. (65 to 320) Sex: Similar to volume but for speech sex. (MALE or FEMALE) UTC: The universal time (Greenwich Mean Time) is now displayed below the local time. SCAN calculates this from a value TIMEDIFF in the configuration file, and is the time difference in hours between GMT and your local time. Of course you will have to change the TIMEDIFF depending on which part of the world you are in. The default setting is for Oklahoma USA, i.e. Central Standard Time. SCAN RELEASE 2.07 2/05/92 An "Instant Lockout" icon is now above the UP button, this allows you to lock out channels without having to pause and bring up the edit window. Known Bugs: none. As always, any suggestions are always welcome Thanks, Alistair Smith
