7PLUS?      Don't be Daunted!

What is it?  How does it work?
Well, 7Plus is a way of sending Binary files over the Packet network.
How to use it?   Its VERY simple.  I'll take you through it step by 
step.
I will assume that you are using 2 disk drives, as most of you should 
be.
First off, format a disk and put it into DF1.
Now load in the Messy Sid prog (AARUG #22) or similar utility disk.
When loaded, insert your 7Plus prog disk into DF0 (AARUG #62) and using 
your utility prog, copy the 7Plus prog to your blank disk.
Easy so far?
Now do a "Vulcan Death Pinch" (3 key reset!) and load in your favourite 
Word Processor or Text editor. Type in your file (That you want to send 
to me!!) and when finished save it to DF1 (The disk with the 7Plus prog 
on) with the file name TEST. 
YOU MUST SAVE THE FILE IN ASCCI FORMAT ONLY AS ANYTHING ELSE WILL 
NOT WORK.
Right then it get's a little harder now but stick with it!
Reset Mr Amiga and load in your copy of Workbench (You do use a copy and 
NOT your original, don't you!!!) Now open a Shell/CLI and type the 
following:--
cd df1:  (return)
Now type this:--
7plus test   (return)  After a short while you will get the message 
Encode Complete.
Now type:-- 
list   (return)  and this will tell you what is on your disk, and if all 
has gone well you should have a file called "TEST.7pl" That's all there 
is to it! Simple Pimple!
Now reset again and load in your copy of Amicom (AARUG #58) This will 
allow you to send me your 7Plus file.
NOTE: YOU CAN NOT USE NCOMM OR ANY OTHER PROGRAM THAT RUNS IN 
"TERMINAL" MODE ON YOUR TNC. IT JUST WILL NOT WORK! YOU HAVE 
BEEN WARNED. Log onto your BBS and type SP G0LBQ @ GB7SOL then at the 
subject prompt type 7plus test file. Then using the pull downs use the 
"7plus file send" and send me your "Test.7pl" file from off your DF1. 
PLEASE send me a plain text file as well just in case it does not work 
so I know who sent it!
There you go, you have just encoded and sent your first 7plus file!
Now on to receiving and decoding 7plus files. Again using Amicom, use 
the pull down that says "File read" and use the Binary setting. Make 
sure that your incoming file will be put onto the same disk as the 7Plus 
program. Call the file "G0LBQ.7pl" or anything else with the ".7pl" at 
the end. Then read the message number as normal and it will be saved to 
disk at the same time. Don't forget to "End Reading" when the 7plus file 
has finished.
Log off the BBS and quit Amicom.
Reset and load in your copy of workbench, then as before type:--
cd df1:  (return)  (assuming your 7plus prog and G0LBQ.7pl file are on a 
disk in DF1)
Now type the following:--
7plus G0LBQ.7pl  (return) After a short wait you should get the message 
"Decoding Complete" You can then load this ASCCI file into your Word 
Processor or Text Editor and read it.
Job done.  That was not so daunting was it? If there is enough response

program files over the packet network.
