Congratulations! You now own Version 1.2a of Photogenics. Files missing from this release that are mentioned in the manual: GIOs: ACBM AmigaScreen ASCII-Art Backdrop CDXL EGS Harlequin Img Impulse OpalVision Picasso 2 ProGrab24RT QRT QuadAnim Retina Sculpt TIFF VLab Targa Archives: Developer documentation archive These files are supplied on an extra disk when you purchase the Photogenics 1.2 manual from Almathera (see the special offer page in this month's Amiga Computing). NOTE: These extra files will only work with the coverdisk verison of Photogenics 1.2a when installed to a hard disk. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Important changes in program functionality that aren't in the printed manual: ILBM rendering enhanced - Can now render to the palette already attached to an image. This allows you to load in a 32 colour image, alter it and save it out rendered to the same palette. Also the general quality of the rendering has been much improved with little or no extra speed penalty. Maximum & Minium paintmodes - Removed! The functionality of these paintmodes has been merged into the similar 'Median' paintmode. This removes more unnecessary code repetition and allows you more free memory to play with. Highlights & Lowlights paintmodes - Merged For exactly the same reason Highlights and Lowlights have been merged into one paintmode - Hi&Lowlights. Use the options to switch between them. GIF.gio - Added patch for Archos/Zappo CD-ROMS Some devices (eg Archos CD-ROMs) do not fully support all Amiga filesystem features. If you cannot load any GIF files from CD-ROM, select the loader preferences and switch to "Async Disabled", and try again. This will mean slightly slower performance but maintains compatability with devices like the Archos CD-ROM. Note: most CD-ROMS (eg Squirrel and Power CD) work fine without the Async disabled switch. We've noticed that CrossDOS sometimes exhibits the same limitations with ASync access. AddSpace - option added to the menu to add space around the image. Tablet Mode - We've had lots of people asking us what this does (we forgot to mention it in the manual). If you have a tablet that emulates a mouse you may need to select 'tablet mode' for the mouse emulation to work correctly. Compose - Two new buttons added to allow the box in Compose to be centered or to be stretched to full size, these were both popular requests. NewIcon support added - If you have the freeware 'NewIcons' system installed on your computer, Photogenics can save out 256 colour icon representations of your images automatically, or add small thumbnail icons to every file in a directory. Display current image with F10 - Call a default saver (eg ShowHam8) automatically by pressing F10. 'reprogram' the F10 key by selecting another saver and pressing Shift-F10 Crop option added - You can now crop an image to remove unwanted borders, etc. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Please support future Amiga development - Piracy is killing the Amiga software market. If you like this program, tell your friends about it - but don't let them copy it! Help us stamp out piracy - If you have any information about piracy of this, or other Almathera products, please report it directly to Almathera: Almathera - Southerton House, Boundary Business Court, 92-94 Church Rd, Mitcham, Surrey, CR4 3TD, ENGLAND. Why not upgrade to the full version of Photogenics 2 (available on CD-ROM and floppy disk)?
