Super League v3.50 Tutorial --------------------------- Already provided on the disk are files sufficient to allow you to immediately start maintaining your own FA Carling Premiership League Table. However, if you are Scottish , Welsh , Estonian...... etc you will probably wish to ignore this and create your own new League. This document traces this through step-by-step in order for you to get acquainted with the method involved : When you first boot-up , the 'FA Carling Premiership' will already be loaded - at first it is blank. If you wish to get it up to date you can use the 'Special Team Data Correcting Facility' from the Preferences screen. The default 'Favourite Team' is Leeds United (Because they're the best...) but you can easily change this, also from the Preferences Screen, by selecting the 'Select Favourite Team' Option. When you have things as you want them, just save the league to disk. This is wise at any time you make an alteration to the Preferences which is particular to any league, since selected Preferences settings are saved along with league data. So even if you haven't changed the actual team data by inputting any new results, but you have changed the name of one of the System files pertaining to that table, you should save the league to ensure that change is made permanent. This applies to any league. Making a Different League Appear Automatically on Bootup : Simply input the name of the file, into the 'League Table to load on Bootup' option in the Preferences screen, including the path which will usually be SuperLeague:Leagues/ since by default this is where league files are saved unless you decide to save elsewhere. Creating a Brand New League : The following example is for creating Endsleigh Division 1 from when you first bootup : 1) The default league in memory is the FA Premier League which only has 22 teams while Division 1 has 24 teams. Hence you should first select Preferences from the first menu, and change the 'Number of Teams' input zone to 24. Then select 'Quit' to return to the menu screen. 2) Select 'Change League Names' from the Second Menu. Change all the team names to all those in Division 1. Note that two boxes will be blank, these are the two extra which did not exist in the Premier League, but treat them just like the others, renaming them to the relavent teams. Then select Exit. 3) Decide which Team in Division 1 is your favourite, whose Results you wish to keep track of. Now Select Preferences again. 4) Select 'Choose Favourite Team' and click on the relavent team which you just decided on. Now Click on the 'Confirm List Selection' button. If your selection was correct, select the 'OK' box. Now select Exit to return to the main prefs screen. 5) The Football League do not employ the goal-difference system to separate teams on the same points, but look at goals scored only. Hence change the 'Goal difference Ranking System' button so that it reads 'Gs For'(Goals For) 6) Change the 'Default Cup Data File' filename to something relavent to your team. For instance, if you support Charlton Athletic you could have the filename 'SuperLeague:Cups/94_95.CAFC'. Personalisation like this is recommended to avoid clashes between the cup files for different leagues. 7) Similarly we need to change the System Data files for this league to something specifically identifiable and unique to this league to avoid clashes. Select 'Change System Data Filenames'. Now Change all the filenames which read :SysFiles/PremXXXXX.data according to which file is doing what. It makes sense to change them all from :SysFiles/PremXXXXX.data to :SysFiles/Div1XXXXX.data.(For Division 1) So for instance, Change the filename for the league position data from ':SysFiles/PremTimings.data' to ':SysFiles/Div1Timings.data' and repeat this for the rest. Then select exit to return to the main prefs screen. 8) Now we need to initialize these new files so they are ready for use. Select the 'System File Reset Facility' button. Click on the upper 'Reset/ Initialize System Files' button. When disk activity has finished, click on exit to return to the main Prefs screen. 9) Click on Save, to save the new settings and to return to the Main Menu 10) Now we must save the league, even though it is empty - mainly to preserve some of the Division 1 specific prefereneces data we have entered. To do this , select 'Save League' from the first menu. Input a relavent filename such as 'Division1' and click on 'OK'. This will make the league perfectly usuable. Select 'View League Table' from Menu 3 to see the table. To enter results , select 'Enter League Results' from Menu 2. Make sure you know who scored for your favourite team and in what minute before you enter one of their results !! 11) (Optional) If you want to update the league to the current real life position, you have 2 options. First , you could enter every result from the start :( (Not a good idea unless you are masochistic) More likely though, you won't want to do this, so you can select the 'Special Team Data Correcting Facility' from the Prefs Screen, and alter all the team data. This of course won't install the relavent 'Favourite team' results on to the system files, but one option is to Enter all your favourite team results and scorers in the usual ways, then select the data correction facility and update everyone else the easy way. The only thing this will prevent working properly is the 'League Position Tracking Graph' since your team will probably be top for all the matches when you were entering only their results and no-one elses, but the Goal Timing graph and the Form Guide etc. will be up-to-date. When you have finished updating, don't forget to save. VERY IMPORTANT -------------- NEVER NEVER NEVER forget to save the league after entering a result of your 'favourite team'. If you do, and find yourself re-entering the result, the result data will be saved TWICE to the relavent system files and the result will appear twice in the form guide, Season Results List, and the goal timings will be counted twice. To ensure this does not become a problem, RESPECT the message which appears after you have entered the results and SAVE IMMEDIATELY.
