MY ADRESS IS: Olav Gimmestad Terrassevn. 24 0682 Oslo 6 NORWAY I have spent some time (really too much) making and improving this program, and I am now working on the 2.0 professional version which will have a lot of new improvements and options. If you want the latest professional version, send US$20 to the above address. HISTORY version 1.1b ------------ This version will start up a default startup sequence if no gadgets are activated during the first about 15 seconds. version 1.1c ------------ Just some few cosmetic changes and a spesified shareware fee. Version 2.0 Shareware version ----------------------------- Nice 2.0 look Memory available displayed in decimal Due to very poor responce, the new 2.0 shareware version is stripped a bit and the full version 2.0 Professional is not freely distiblutable. It can be ordered from the above address. DESCRIPTION: This program allows you to select between multiple startup-sequences. It also give you the possibility to turn on/off the audiofilter. This is very useful especially when you have a hard drive, and want to get the most out of your system, dont waste memory etc. REQUIREMENTS: This program will run on any amiga with kickstart 1.2 or higher, and will work under any 680x0 processor. It is nice written and intuition based. Kickstart 2.04 or higher is prefered. Your system disk MUST contain the AmigaDos CLI commands: execute ; (This should be the standard workbench commands) run It may be started from workbench or cli, but you should call it from the startup-sequence. SETUP: ------ Example: makedir sys:s/seq ; make a work directory copy sys:s/#? sys:s/seq ; copy all startup-sequences there copy fastmenu sys:c ; copy the fastmenu program to hdisk copy run sys:c ; make sure the run command is there copy execute sys:c ; " " " execute Then make a default startup-sequence and copy it into the directory sys:s/seq , the filename must be "default-startup". put the two lines assign boot: dh0: fastmenu first in your new sys:s/startup-sequence Then you may try to reboot. Remember ALWAYS when working on important files you should have a BACKUP! How to use fastmenu: fastmenu [-a] [-d] ^ optional: -d followed by the directoryname to select startup-sequences from -aXX will automatic start a default startup-sequence with name: default-startup after a XX time delay Example: Enter: fastmenu Note that no line arguments are following the file name, the program will now search for a directory with the name SEQ in your SYS:s directory. If it this directory does not exists and no command line argument was specified the program will FAIL returning to CLI printing an error message. Note that you should make a directory : seq in your sys:s/ diretory. You should then copy the old startup-sequence over there. Just like in the SETUP exaple. If the directory is found, a screen will open, and the filenames in the directory will be displayed. If you click on a filename which must be a text file for amigados execute, it will be executed. On the top of the screen you can read how much free memory your system has. At the bottom of the screen, you will see four gadgets: AUDIOFILTER this gadget will turn on/off the sound filter on your computer. EXIT this gadget will exit the program and return to cli. ABOUT Displays conditions for use. If the files displayed are files which are executable under the AmigaDos execute command, you may click on them, and the file will be executed. Example 2 fastmenu -ddh0:s will search for executable files in your dh0:s directory. BUGS: There is a problem if you are using the ARP library execute function, this is not a bug in fastmenu, but I recomend you to use the AmigaDos version. The shareware version also have a little internal stack problem, this is fixed in the Pro version, but this bug will never appear during normal use. If you find any bugs, please contact me on this adress: E-Mail: gimme@solan.unit.no (Internet) or Olav Gimmestad Terrassevn. 24 0682 Oslo 6 NORWAY Good luck!
