Tele Title 2 Information. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ -------------------- Up-Date 22.3.94... -------------------- The biggest thing about this Up-Date is that I've merged Tele Scroll 1 into the program, giving you more sequence methods to use. There are now 13 methods with the ability to mix the scroll methods. I've put an Execute command in the program so that you can easily access the other Amos programs on this disk. I've also added a Configuration file so that you can use your own defaults. The Entry program has been up-dated slightly - I've taken out the Bob Amos file part to make the program a bit more straight forward. In the Progs drawer you'll find a program called Bob Entry. This allows you to Grab your Characters from a picture and store them as a Bob Amos file. This program wasn't written before because I thought most people would have the Easy Amos 'Bob Editor' program or similar, As Amos was given away on so many magazine coverdisks last year. Finally, I've put the Helvetica Font into the program as the default character set. I've also put a Times character set and its sizes onto this disk. It uses the program's Set Titles and Space setting so just load the items into the program as normal. You'll find more details about the new functions, etc below. By the way, all the programs on this disk have been squashed, except TT2L, which means they will take a few seconds longer to start because of the unsquashing. To use Tele Scroll 2 on another disk you will have to put the Amos Library on that disk aswell otherwise Tele Scroll 2 won't work. ================= Introduction... ================= Tele Title 2 Lowres (TT2L) is a Video Titling program. It was written with Easy Amos V1.1 on a A600 with 2Mb and then Up-Dated using Amos V1.35. TT2L uses Bobs instead of Fonts, which means you can use Cut 'N' Paste type characters with upto 64 colours in your sequence. Tele Title 2 Lowres is Public Domain. In these instructions (and the program) I've used the following terms as follows... Set Titles - These are the titles defined by me that you can change using the Entry program. I.e. Editor, Director, etc. Titles - These are what you choose from the main menu, to go with your Names. Names - These are the names to go with your Titles. Cast Title - This title will be Starring, Starred or Party Goers. Cast Names - These are the names to go with your Cast Title. Items - I've used this word to mean any/all of the above. ================ The program... ================ When the program starts you will see the Main Menu with nine Icons at the bottom of the screen and in the middle of the screen are some of the Titles. You simply select a Title and enter upto 3 Names for that title. You can have upto 25 Characters per name provided your Character Width Sizes (C.W.S) will allow you to (C.W.S are explained later). If you make a mistake when you're typing in your Names you can simply cancel the names and the title by pressing the Left Amiga key. Many of the program messages, etc, have been cut short, I.e S.T instead of Set Titles, etc simply because there wasn't enough room on the screen. You can have upto 72 Titles (with upto 3 Names per title) in your sequence, aswell as upto 50 Cast Names. ============== The Icons... ============== Icon 1: Left Key - You have a Cast in your film. Right Key - You do not have a Cast in your film. Perhaps your film is a Documentary. Icon 2: Left Key - You chose the Cast Title 'Starring' Right Key - You chose the Cast Title 'Starred' Both Keys/3rd Key - You chose the Cast Title 'Party Goers' Note: If you want the Cast Title 'Party Goers' and you only have 2 keys on your mouse then simply press down both keys and drag the mouse - with both keys still held down - to one of the edges of the icon. I've made the edges of each icon a safe area so that you don't accidentally Quit the program or something by mistake. Icon 3: Left Key - Enter your Cast Name(s), if needed. Icon 4: Left Key - Quit the program. Icon 5: Left Key - The Edit Menu Icon 6: Left Key - Shows you what Keys the program uses. Go to this first. Icon 7: Left Key - Test and Play. This will Test for errors and then Play your sequence if no errors were detected. Icon 8: Left Key - This shows the Copyright Notice and my Address details. Icon 9: Left Key - The Post-Production Menu. ============================= The Post Production Menu... ============================= This menu simply allows you to Load and Save your sequence, Erase Memory, turn your Cast Off/On, etc. You can Load or Save certain parts of your sequence. For example, you could load some Wedding Titles and then load some different Names for those titles each time or you could load some Names and then load different titles for those names each time. You must load the same number of items. For example, you cannot load 6 Titles and then load 10 Names. The program won't let you quit this menu until the items are equal. Also, when you first load some Titles, for example, you must load some Names aswell - You cannot load the titles and then carry on, the program won't let you quit this menu until you've loaded some Names. Once you've loaded your first set of (equal) Titles and Names you can simply load your Titles and Names seperately, as long as they're equal to the last item you loaded - For example, if you've loaded 10 titles and 10 names and you then decided to load some different names you would simply load 10 different names, but you couldn't load 6 different names (unless you're loading 6 different titles afterwards) because the titles and names wouldn't be equal anymore of course. If you Load some Titles and Names (whilst still on the Main Menu part of the program) you can go to the Main Menu and add other Titles and Names to the END of those you've just loaded. Don't type in your sequence and then Load some Titles and Names because you will overwrite the sequence you`ve just typed in. The above only applies to your Titles and Names, you cannot add Cast Names to loaded in Cast Names. View Directory: This allows you to check whats in your TT2L drawers. It does not check Sub-Drawers, Erase Files or anything like that. The 'Again' button means read the directory again. This looks at 'DF0:' so if you need to read another disks directory then simply swap disks when you are Viewing a Drawer and hit the 'Again' icon. The 'Post' button takes you back to the Post-Production menu View Directory reads upto 60 items (Drawers and/or Files). The Scroll Arrows will not scroll the listing if 'Start' or 'End' is less or equal to 20. The Mouse has no Scroll Bar when choosing a Drawer to view so you will have to watch the mouse's Tip when you click on a drawer's name. Erase Memory: If you use the Erase Memory function you will not be able to Save your items because the memory banks your items use will be erased. You will still be able to use your items though. Cast On/Off: You can turn the cast Off/On and keep the cast for later use or you can turn the cast Off completely. To toggle the Cast On/Off just enter your cast names and then use the Post-Menu to switch your Cast Off/On. To turn the cast Off completely just set icon 1 to 'Other' (The ClapperBoard). Load Bob-Amos: This allows you to load your Character set (your Bobs). Space: This lets you change the space setting between each Character. You should always set this function, if need be, before you load in some new set titles (see below). C.W.S: Character Width Sizes are the Widths of your characters. Set Titles: As said above, these are the titles like Editor, Director, etc. If you ever need to load some new set titles you should always do the following... 1) Set your Space setting, if need be. 2) Load your C.W.S, if need be. 3) Load your Set Titles. Set Titles works by looking at the Space setting and the C.W.S to calculate their positions on the screen. If you only loaded some new Set Titles then the new set titles would look at the Space setting and the old (current) C.W.S. This may make the program Quit (not Crash) because the new set titles may have more characters in them for example, thus, forcing the error that they cannot fit onto the screen So, unless your current C.W.S can be used with your new Set Titles I would suggest using the 1,2,3 method above to load your new Set Titles. If you only want to change the Space setting in your set titles you will have to load your set titles again - after changing the space setting. This is so that the set titles screen positions can be re-calculated. The Set Titles aren't checked everytime you change the Space setting or load a C.W.S simply because it slows the program down too much to always be doing checks. I could of stored the old settings whilst checking the new set titles, etc, but this would mean using more memory and the program would be even slower. You should find that once you've got your settings, set titles, etc to your liking you won't need to use the Space setting, etc, all the time. Save Config: This saves all the values (Configuration) from the Edit menu. The file is saved as: E.M.Config. The program will look for this file upon loading. The program will also look for the following files upon loading... B.A.Config - your Bob Amos file (your Character set). C.W.S.Config - your Character Width Sizes. S.T.Config - your Set Titles. E.M.Config goes in the Progs, the rest of the files go in their proper drawer. The program default is used when a file is not found. Execute: This allows you to Execute an Amos program. I put this in the program mainly for you to get easy access to the Entry program, Bob Entry program, Copyright Effex program, etc. ================== The Edit Menu... ================== Timer: This routine uses your clock to calculate the time of your sequence. The routine gives the Exact time of your sequence from start to end. There is a Timer Off/On button for those who don't have a clock. Disp: You can move the screen display around in the X and Y positions. This function doesn't highlight the screen so you will need to know what co-ords your Television (or Monitor) uses. Gap Keys: The Gap Keys are there to cut down on key pressing. For example with the Gap Total set to 1, if you wanted to change a Pause rate from 100 to 150 then you would simply set the Gap Total to 50 and press the Pause rate button once to reach 150, rather than pressing it 50 times to reach 150 when the Gap Total is set to 1. Wait: This function allows you to specify the time you wait before your sequence starts. The value you enter for this function will also be added to the end of your sequence. Note, because of this function, the Wait value is added to the Timer function. M-Task: This function toggles Multi-Tasking Off/On. Once you`ve set Multi- Tasking it will stay in the selected state until you change it again. Multi-tasking Off will automatically be turned Off at the start of your sequence and then back On at the end of your sequence. Multi-tasking On will just keep the multi-tasking On, all the time, as normal. Capital: This function toggles the Cast Title between Lower Case and Upper Case. C.Cols: Use this function to tell the program how many Colours you have in your Characters set. P.Cols: Use this function to tell the program how many Colours you have in your Picture. Method: These are the sequence methods, numbered 1 to 13. This function tells the program how you want your sequence to appear/disappear. I.e. Fade, Suddenly Appear, One Character At A Time, etc. Methods after 5 are all Scroll methods. Note: Your Cast Positions, Names Positions, etc will automatically drop to 127 (if they're higher than 127 at the time) when method goes past 5. This is because all the methods after 5 are Scroll methods and use a split-screen effect. M.Pause: This is used with the One Character AT A Time method. It controls the speed of the Characters appearing. The Following belong to the Scroll methods only... Speed: This controls the speed of your Scroll. This is numbered 1 to 18. 1 is slow, round about the 9/10 mark is alright, after 10 is quite fast. The Word scroller method is numbered 1 to 9. Note: If you're using method 12 for example with the speed set at 17 and you then decide to use the Word scroller method, the Speed will automatically drop to 1 - allowing you to set a speed from 1 to 9. C.Method: This are the Cast Methods used with your scroll routines only. There are 7 of them, 4 scrolls and 3 others. W.Gap: This controls the gap between each item in your Word scroller method. W.Pos: This sets the screen position of your Word scroller. This ranges from 100 to 300. A safe default (so you can see the characters, but get close to the bottom of the screen aswell) is 270, I think. P.Fade: This function toggles between 'Fade the picture in' (On) and 'make the picture suddenly appear' (Off). The Pos (position) items in this menu refer to the screen positions of those items. Middle Pos is used with the normal cast method (not the scroll's cast method). Here are the Methods... Note: If you choose a Fade In method (or Fade In your Picture) and you've selected more than 16 colours then those colours will be reset to 16. This is because the Fade In routine can only fade in 16 colours. Method In Method out --------- ---------- 1: - Picture and Sequence Suddenly Appear Fade out 2: - Picture and Sequence Fade In Fade out 3: - Picture Fades In and Sequence appears Fade Out One Character at a Time 4: - Picture Fades In if colours are 16 or less Clear the Characters otherwise the picture Suddenly Appears. The Sequence Suddenly Appears. 5: - Picture Suddenly Appears. Sequence same as 4. Clear the Characters Methods 4 and 5 put the characters over the Picture. Your picture has to use the colours from your character set (Bob Amos file). I would suggest adding extra colours to your Bob Amos file and making those extra colours the same as your picture's colours. The rest of the methods (except method 13) use the Picture Fade function to display a picture (See P.Fade above). The Cast methods are as follows... 1: - Scroll Left 2: - Scroll Right 3: - Scroll Up 4: - Scroll Down 5: - Suddenly Appear 6: - Fade In and Out 7: - One Character At A Time and Fade Out The methods (they all Suddenly Appear) are as follows... 6: - Scroll L-R 7: - Scroll R-L 8: - Scroll D-U 9: - Scroll D-L 10: - Scroll D-R 11: - Scroll R-U 12: - Scroll L-U 13: - The Word Scroller The above are in direction form. I.e. L-R means Scroll the bottom of the screen Left and the top of the screen Right. The bottom of the screen is always scrolled first so that the Title scrolls off the screen last. It looks a bit stupid the other way around! ======================== Testing the program... ======================== 1. Load a Cast - Filename is: Test Load Titles & Names - Filename is: Test Load a Packed Picture - Filename is: Test 2. Hit the 'Test/Play' Icon with your Left Mouse Key and follow the prompts. When the sequence has finished you will be presented with a small menu. This gives you the following choices... Re-Run the sequence - Do I need to say more! The Edit menu - calls back the edit menu allowing you to re-edit ya sequence The Post-Production menu - calls back the post-production menu allowing you to load/save new names, titles, etc. Go back to the main menu - This goes back to the main menu and resets every- thing. You can type in new names, etc. So, as you can see, the first part of the program is really for things like typing in your names, etc. Whereas the second part (after your sequence has been shown) is for the editing side of things. You can edit your sequence before of course, if you already know your Scroll Speed, Pause Rates, etc, but on the whole it's best to edit afterwards just in case you`ve made a typing error! ====================================== Please take note of the following... ====================================== There is no Reset button for the Cast Names menu. If you make a mistake when you're in the menu just finish your Cast Names entry (by entering any old rubbish) and then simply re-enter the Cast Names menu to start again. I have not disabled the Break key so if you need to exit the program you can use the program's Quit option or press CTRL and C. To make a new disk up just put 8 Drawers on your new disk and name them the same as mine. I.e. Titles, Names, etc. You can call the Disk whatever you like because TT2L always looks at 'DF0:'. ============== Filenames... ============== I've only given you 15 characters for your filename because it's a bit naff for example, having to type in a filename of 20 characters or more everytime you need to load/save something...isn't it?!! I advice you to set your filename something like the following... 72Wed6John Where 72 is the number of Titles, etc in your sequence - Wed means your film is a Wedding - 6 is the Space setting - and 'John' is the name of your filename or the name of your Wedding Video person, etc. ============ Finally... ============ If you have any Questions, Comments, Ideas, etc, feel free to write anytime. You will find my address in the 'ME' Icon. Note: Because I cannot trap every error, I will not take any responsibility for the loss or damage of Titles, Names and any other data, etc caused by any of the programs on this disk. =============================================================================
