                         NORTHERN AMIGA USERS GROUP
                         ==========================

Introduction
------------

This is a simple introduction to the Northern Amiga Users Group. Feel free
to read this information then if you require more info or you want an
application form then send an SAE to the address at the end.

The Users Group
---------------

The user group starts on the 1st of February 1994. The group has been
designed for various reasons:

1. To give Amiga users the opportunity to obtain help for their computer.

2. To offer professional and cheap services that will benefit any Amiga
   owner who uses them.

3. To promote the use of the Amiga as far as possible among non-Amiga
   sections.

The group has two forms of membership to welcome any Amiga owner. Firstly
there is the General Membership.

The General Membership
----------------------

We feel from experience that some owners are reluctant to spend hard earned
cash on a user group that is new and not yet established. Fair enough, we
agree in some ways with that statement. This is why the services we offer
are not only professional but the are extremely cheap, far cheaper than the
same services offered in the PC sector or commercial scene (as in the case
of the typesetting). This FREE membership means the member can buy as much
PD as he/she likes, use as many services as they like and ask for help as
much as they need. This is no obligation to purchase but if you ordered a
couple of disks of PD when sending back the membership disk to be updated
we would be more than pleased. However, there is no worry if you don't. We
just hope that you enjoy your membership and if you have any problems that
you bring them forward and make us aware as soon as possible.

The membership disk is available to ALL members but General members must
send a jiffy bag, disk and stamp to us each month if they require the disk
magazine. The disk magazine contains all the club news, reviews, members
section and full PD lists. It is updated/rewritten monthly.

* Remember that a General Member can "upgrade" to Platinum status at anytime
by sending £10 to NAUG. The "new" membership will start from then but as
Platinum status.

The Platinum Membership
-----------------------

The PLATINUM membership is the highest membership we have. ALL members are
treated equally but platinum members may be entitled to further benefits.
Each month the membership disk will be sent out to platinum members and no
further action will be needed by the Platinum member. If, however, you want
to update your membership disk more regularly than once a month we ask you
to send it back with a jiffy and stamp to cover the return postage.
Not much to ask for really.

Platinum members are entitled to the discount at First Computer Centre in
Leeds. They will be sent 3 vouchers that can be used in a year.

                      =================================

Member Services
===============

1. LOCAL CONSULTANCY
--------------------

Based on the PC sector's commercial consultancy. We feel that the Amiga
deserves some kind of help service like this so it is here for your use. It
is restricted to a certain area but drop us a line and check whether your
area is accessible.

The idea behind this service help WITHIN the HOMES of the Amiga owners
themselves. It is all well and good giving help by magazine or by computer
screen but there is the practicality side of help missing. With this we can
show the user how to make a disk with contents list or show them generally
the basics of their computer STEP-BY-STEP within the comfort of
their homes. The intention is for the user to understand how the help was
completed and he/she should be able to do the same thing after we leave. We
cover all types of work from software installation, Hard disk installation
and software knowledge to disk compiling, workbench help and the command
line interface. Give us call and discuss what you what doing and we may be
able to and help you do it.

Price will be VERY cheap and the latest prices and up-to-date information on
this service can be found in you latest disk magazine.

Time each week is LIMITED so book early to avoid a wait.

2. DTP/Typesetting
------------------

At the time of writing (10/10/93) we are unsure of the exact offering of
this service but basically if you present us with a design we will compile
this into a DTP format or word processed format. We will cover basic DTP and
ANY kind of word processed document. It could be a CV or letter, report or
essay. If you give us the details we will give you a very cheap price and
compile it for you.

A member could use this service if wanting to design a letterhead for home
or business. Once printed by us it can be taken to the Printers to be printed
straight from our print. This saves about £15-20 on the design if it was
produced by the printers themselves.

ALL printed on a LASER printer. We hope to have a 256-Grey scale scanner very
soon.

3. Group Meetings
-----------------

Will be local and the meetings will be outlined in the updated disk magazine.
This will offer a chance for the members to meet and also for members to
discuss face-to-face with NAUG "officials", buy PD or book DTP or
consultancy services.

4. SWAP-SHOP
------------

Swap your old games for games which other members may be interested in
swapping.

5. Members Section
------------------

Members section in the disk magazine. Sell or buy hardware/software. Write
reports for other members. Letters answered etc.

                                THE FINAL SAY
                                =============

More Members!
-------------

The more members that join the better NAUG will become. We have plans to
expand the group as it grows at the moment. The Professional Collections are
nearly completed and we may introduce a member telephone helpline in the
next few months.

However, more members equals more power:

* More membes gives the group more power when dealing with suppliers,
Commodore, retailers etc. A user group with 10,000 members would be a force
to be listened to when the Amiga is concerned!

* More members means a greater quality magazine input. The magazine will
allow for a great deal of member input. News about the Amiga or computer
scene, report on the Amiga or maybe you want to get a comment off your
chest. Combine this with an increase in activity within Swap-Shop and the
for sale/wanted section the disk magazine will become a hive of Amiga
  activity!

We also give ample opportunity for your say. If you feel that the group
should be concentrating on a particular aspect or that the disk magazine
should included a certain section then contact us.

Simply, we offer FREE membership or Platinum membership. The choice is
yours! Why not join as a Free (general) member for a month, try us out then
upgrade to platinum status and your year will start from there. OK, as a
free member you won't be entitld to any discount at the First Computer
Centre in Leeds but you will be entitled to the members services, help,
magazine disk and cheap PD.

Why wait? For further information and application form send an SAE to the
below address.
