Early Learner v1.0 - Chris Sadler. ------------------------------------ Loading. ---------- This program will auto-boot strait into the action. What it is. ------------- Just a variation on little kids picture books. The program has two options PICTURE BOOK READING FUN What does picture book do? ---------------------------- The picture book option lets you, or your child, look through all of the pictures in the game. the pictures have a single letter underneath them. Hopefully with time your child will be able to recognise the word as representing the picture. What does Reading Fun do? --------------------------- Reading fun takes the picture book one step further and shows a picture, this time with two words. One of the words is correct, the other is not. Your child has to select which one of the two he thinks is right. The correct word is then shown. The fun takes place in the shape of a car race. Your child is the GREEN car with the computer being the RED car. Each time your child gets the picture matched with the word correctly the GREEN car will accelerate faster than the RED car. The opposite is true if your child gets the word wrong. At the end of the race you will be informed of your childs percentage. A Bit About Me! ----------------- I'm not normally into programming educational games!! I am a die-hard american football addict and I'm in the middle of programming an american football game for the A1200. The trouble with programming american football games is that, from time to time, you get so frustrated that the thing isn't doing as it's told (I guess the same can be said for most programming!). Therfore from time to time you are glad for a welcome break which is what this program has provided. It was written primarily for my 3 year old brother David to aid him in his "Learning to Read" stage. No, I'm not the caring big brother type! I got paid for my efforts by my mother!! Anyway I could see the benifits the program was having on my brother and so I thought 'Why not release it into P.D?'. So here it is!! I'm currently doing a BSc Software Engineering degree at Anglia Polytechnic University which is in serious danger of boring me to death. PC this PC that. Windows '95 here, Windows '95 there! Parrallel Processing ... blah....blah...blah! Arrrrrggggghhhhhh!!!!! Obviously I like computers and programming as you wouldn't be seeing this game and I wouldn't be wasting most of my summer programming my american football game. It's just that I hate anyone who always talks computers, sleeps computers and sh*ts computers 24hours a day! Banned!!! The usual tacky bit that's always shoved on the end of Read Me files. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Programming - Chris Sadler Graphics - Chris Sadler Sounds - Mostly on P.D. Sample disks but I did sin and nick some from Kids Disk #1 (anouther P.D. Education game) Insperation - The alarm clock that is primed to wake you up at nasty times early in the morning especially if you've had a late night. Aka my little brother David Tyrone Alex Abbott! Playtesting - Me, My Brother, My Mother, The Cat. 2 x MVP - Jerome Bettis Quote of the week - "Oh is that Chris from Deal? In that case she's not in tommorow because she's going to France, she won't be in Saturday or Sunday either!" - Hmmmmmm, get the feeling I'm not welcome! Music - Pete Tongs Essential Selection, One in the Jungle, Bad Boys Soundtrack, Pure Swing 3, D'Lacey, N-Trance(!), TLC, Janet Jackson Baby D, The Original, Montal Jorden, Notorius B.I.G. We'll Have none of it - Blur, Oasis, Supergrass!! King of all films - Bad Boys Other good films - Pump up the volume, Pulp Fiction, N.B.K, TimeCop. Best Laugh of the year - Very, Very Tricky!! It's a choice between the following - 1). The lads from Uni going on a Dogfight (get the video out for explaination!) to Hertfordshire to Lechworth, Stevenage and Hitchin before going to a nightclub in Hitchin where the two girls I didn't want to run into were both there! 2). Saturday June 10th, a day out in London, going to the Monarchs vs Claymores match at White Hart Lane (They lost!) then having a great end of season party then having to sleep rough at 4am! 3). Thinking "Sod revision" and getting up and driving 150 miles to a sandy beach to lie in the sun and go for a dip in the sea. Driving 150 miles back to Chelmsford having a laugh on the way and take an exam the next day with no revision! And passing!! Worst Joke of the Year - I have to meet someone in London at 10:00am one Saturday! Out to the SU pub the night before and get home. Set alarm clock before going to bed as I'd never get up without it! The girls in my house turned off my rooms trip switch while I'm asleep thereby cutting all power to my clock!!! Sorry Helen! Best moment of the year - I have 2. 1). The Nigel Benn vs Gerald McClellan fight. I know some people may feel this is out of order after what happened to Gerald after the fight. I truly feel sorry for what happened and I hope he has a speedy recovery. After following Nigel for years I could not begin to explain the buzz during the fight of the century between these two big hitters. I had no voice the next day!! 2). The London Monarchs beating Rhine Fire at home!! It was the only home win for the Monarchs and boy, what a feeling!! Once again the buzz around the crowd when British Running Back Victor X Ebubedike raced 46 yards to score is something that I won't forget again in a hurry! Big thanks to - TESCO'S VALUE FOOD!! Or student survival kit!! Jay for everything. EWA Ltd for giving me a job when I needed one badly! Sky TV, AFRTS and Channel 4 for American Football coverage! First Down. Barclays Bank for my overdraft! Katie for her great advice and brilliant cooking. ESCOM for buying out Commodore - lets hope they live up to expectations.
