TITLE:SCENOLOGY - PARTY SCENERS FILE PALETTE:0223 099a 08a9 0cc9 3A SCENOLOGY ISSUE 3 BASIC THOUGHTS ABOUT PARTY-SCENERS 2 By RokDaZone of Infect The scener - a shortened technical term for each person being more or less involved into the scene and therefore studyable object for Scenology as whole - has never in his short history ever been autarc from the picture he creates whilst meeting other individuals of the scene. Despite the fact that Scener Psychology is a semi-evaluated arm of the Scenology in general, it has in itself created a variety of different facets - if I may integrate this small pun here. One of these fields I'd like to introduce you to know: The importance of the appearance. Copyparties have always been and still are a major field of interest for both sides: The scener and the Scenologist. Seldomly, the interested viewer might find such an embarrassing variation of scenish behaviour. Yet, without almost no euphorism - Freudian Behaviorism might be rewritten on such an event. First of all, there are two major groups to find: The 2hardwarerers1 (HWrers) and the 2non-hardwarers1 (NHWrers). A differenciation which is of course obvious, since a HWrer always might be found bound to his hardware on a certain place, whilst the NHWrer - the more frequent group - only carries around software. Both groups depend on eachothers, since the NHWrer is the communicative factor between single HWrer by exchanging software over the places. The HWrer, however, mustn't be looked upon as the copy-slave - he gets his profit out of the dependance of the NHWrer. Having figured out this basic differenciatable parts of sceners at partys, the main interesting point must be discussed here. In a mass, the individual loses charisma - a verifyable ancient wisedom. No one, however, cares more about his charisma (especially in his personal appearance) than a scener. This gets easy to understand when seeing, that the whole mystic around the "megaswapper" who "hates too small condoms" might be destroyed, if he turns out to be a small uncertain youngster with akne, one can bet he never ever dared to talk to a female of his desires. But what would our young friend do without this charisma intended by anonymous letterwritings? On partys, there is no chance to hide - so no way out? No, since the scener has invented an almost unique method of keeping his face and even strenghten his personae. We got the 2"Ridiculous Species"1. Wearing funny coloured clothes or even full masquerades, he always tries to be the loudest in shouting and performing bad jokes which he quitates by roaring laughters of himself. He jumps around, gets on the nerves of any rational thinking person and concentrates on foolish behaviour. He thinks that this kind of performance lets him appear to be desirable contact for others - and in some species of the sceners (especially the ---> "Following Species") he may succeed. This must be seen as the major reason, why there won't ever be two of his kind on one place without open rivality. Although he often wears sunglasses in the night and tries to booze heavily, he mustn't be compared to the... ... 2"Pseudo-cool Species"1. This not so smart person - mostly swapper and/or modemtrader - also boozes and weares sunglasses by night, but his motivation is a different one: He thinks that this might help out his coolness, without realizing that in his hometown, any girl would have taken out her canned CS-gas if he only would occurr in 2 metres distance of her. He behaves like he was bread in a redlight district bar and his average vocabulary consists mainly - if not only - of the words 'cool','fuck(in)', 'shite', 'lamer' and 'motherfucker'. Also his constant alcohol abuse doesn't help him out of his worsen reputation, so it's no wonder those are mostly found in groups of their own. Poor brute! Another very disturbing cell might be called from no on the 2"Nuisance Species"1. It mainly consists of musicians - although often this quality level isn't reached by nuisancers - who seem to suffer inferiority complexes. They seemingly have to be loud in any way. While the soundcompetition, for instance, they are forced to blare dancefloor or heavy metal out of their hifi-equipment, brought to the partyplace just for one reason: Being disturbing for any other person. The members of the 2"Following Species"1 are much the same like fans of the 'New Kids On The Block' or 'Take That', since they get their satisfaction by getting a not-worth-to-mention flicker of attention of the ones, they follow: Mainly people from the "Ridiculous" or the ---> "Professional Species". They do a lot of things to get photographed with their stars (here: other more influential sceners) and later on show those evidences proudly to others telling that they talked to those or maybe even have partied with them. Sad though that they forget to tell that the only reaction of the star on their "Hello, I'm XXX!" might be like:"Pity you." or the party looks as follows: The lone "Follower" sees a prominent one at the bar and masters himself in one metre distance and orders a beer, saying "Cheers!" to his star. Since every "Follower" behaves like this, the bar gets overcrowded soon and the elitarian dude tries to get rid off them while the innkeeper has a good time. Important for the scene in itself is without no doubt the 2"Professional 2Species"1, since this group doesn't only pretend to be elite... they also behave this way. Therefore, they represent the authority of a scene, that always claims to be anarchistic. Among the "Professionals", one mainly faces group leaders, prominent coders (if they ain't part of the "Ridiculous" or "Pseudo-Cool Species") and especially main-/and co-editors of mags. They sit around and mock about the others, vex their releases, give shorttermed audiences to "Followers" and try to be with themselves. Nothing is good enough to satisfy them. Often they openly show their ego by special buttons and stickers with real special logos. Evenings with them appear to be endless discussions about the scene as whole and about what went wrong on the party and who did what mistakes in what demos, short: "How can we prove that we are more elitarian than anyone else here?" In the end they get pissed like all the ordinary folks and that's when the big hour of the "Followers" arrives. I'd like hereby to end this first insight on different scener species. Of course this only might be a basic insight into Scener Psychology, it might be a starter handbook for other Scenologists to come hence.
