TITLE:A DARK VISION OF THE FUTURE - INTRODUCTION by MOP/ALCATRAZ PALETTE:0333 0889 0b9a 06ac 3 INTRODUCTION As every good book has a decent introduction page, this story surely would be incomplete without AN INTRODUCTION. Actually, I (MOP) would only like to take this opportunity to write something more about the actual work on this story. One late AUGUST day, as I was opening my sendings, I noticed another package from my friend TRID. K. Amongst the usual things, TRID wrote that he intended to write a big story for a diskmag, but he needed some help, as it would be impossible for him to write the whole thing on his own. So TRID thought that I might be the right person for helping him, and that he would be very glad if this work would finally be released in MC DISK. Thinking over, I thought that it wasn't a bad idea, and as I had previously written some short stories, it would be a very easy job for me. So I wrote back to TRID with my opinions. About one week later, TRID had already finished the first chapter and a preview of the main story plot. I was really amazed with TRID's work, so highly motivated I started to work on my part. We kept working on this story for three long months. I must say that many things has changed since the original story plot, but I think that this is just normal when writing a story. In the beginning, and as I already mentioned, I thought that it would be a simple task to write such a big story, but I was wrong. Trying to keep the reader's attention without the story getting boring isn't always easy. I must say that all TRID's ideas were really excellent, and with the right ideas already available I just had to concentrate on the descriptive parts. I also hope that TRID didn't get too angry when I changed some little things in the plot! We tried to pack as much action as possible, but don't worry we didn't exaggerate! I hope that we finally managed to succeed in all this, but it's actually you (the reader) who must judge our work! I am very sorry that you cannot enjoy the nice clip arts by DWEL, thanks to a certain busy coder! Still, I must thank DWEL for all his excellent work and support, in the time when he was still in ATZ. You must know that all the clip arts in the whole story were done in a short period of a few days! Maybe you aren't much surprised by all this, but DWEL was also very busy with other projects, so I want to take this opportunity to express all my appreciation for his hard work. Without his work this story wouldn't be complete! When writing this story, we never forgot you (the reader) so apart from the main story you can also find a couple of other interesting articles which I thought would be indispensable to complete the story. Sometimes you often read in diskmags, that coops and even groups end, because there is a lack of communication between the members. This was not the case with us, because we have kept in constant touch throughout the whole time. Before I let TRID. K. type some words, I must finally say that I surely think that you will undoubtedly appreciate our hard work, and we hope to get some positive reviews on our work, because this is the only compensation I can think of! Now over to TRID. K. When the first Ideas for this story came up, I did never expect that it would finally turn out like this final version we are now presenting you. From the beginning and after thinking a bit, I came to the conclusion to ask an English-proofed article writer, if he would like to help me. I had seen some of MOP's stories for MC DISK and since i liked them very much, I asked MOP if he would like to collaborate with me. The idea for this story came up, when i was reading and playing SHADOWRUN and BATTLETECH novels and RPGs. But as I watched some Movies, (TERMINATOR II & ALIEN3) I wondered why there are always some bad Machines or Aliens involved in the plot. Look around! Who is the real danger? Why do we need to have such Nuclear power to blow off this planet for 5 or 6 times? And why do these fraggin drekheads never learn from history? Do we really need other Alien forms to eliminate us and our World? That was the point when I decided that the story would surely stay without any ALIENS or TERMINATORs. And i think it finally worked pretty well. We`ve been working on this story from the beginning of September, and it wasn`t a very easy job. The hardest part must have been to correct all my spelling mistakes! I just can thank you for this, MOP! It was MOP's idea to get a Graphician to draw some CLIP ARTS and so I would also like to thank DWEL for his excellent work! Now, I'm sitting here, watching the work we`ve done and I must say that it's a very good feeling. But most importantly, I must say that this TEAM WORK hardened our friendship, because in this way you get to know much more of your partner. The last thing I'll mention here is that i hope that you (the reader) will like it too. Before bashing out the complete credits, you must all know that the above mentioned months, refer to last year! Yes, you're right... we wrote this story in 1992, and as you all know how MC DISK ended, we just thought that it would be a BIG waste to dump away the whole story.
