|2-Article Formats |1-For issue 8 of The Word by Freak of NFA |1-Plain ASCII Text Send your articles in Plain ASCII text format, with no control codes or escape codes or anything like that, because the magazine engine will joyfully ignore them and print a load of gobbledegook for you, hurrah! Your articles shouldn't really be any more than 72 characters wide as we'll simply format them to the correct width, which means you needn't worry about getting stuff exactly right. Tabs are not supported either. The suggested program for typing stuff in is CygnusEd Pro 3.0 as it supports everything and more besides, and saves out ASCII text free from control codes and other crap. To emphasise text you have the following... |1-Big text! This function of the mag takes one line from your article and prints it in Coop.24 in the centre of the screen, it is pixel perfect so no need to wonder how many spaces you'll need... :) In order to display a line of Big Text you simply have to ensure that the first three characters on the line are "|1-" and that your text that you want displaying immediately follows this, so for example: |1-This is Big Text... is created by the line "|1-This is Big Text..." at the VERY LEFT EDGE of your screen, i.e the "|" characters MUST be first on the line. Don't forget that Big Text requires THREE lines to be printed, so leave a couple of empty lines after your big display. |2-Big Big Text! In addition to the big text you also have WindsorDemi.60 to play with, which requires 7 lines, or 8 if you have decenders. Similarly the text is triggered with the prefix "|2-", so the above title is created using the line "|2-Big Big Text!" in your document. |1-Clip Art ^13^^520 Clip art is available but it's really annoying and fiddly at the moment and so it's best to leave it to us to put stuff in for you. If you see an item of Clipart that you want in your article then leave us a note like "<>" and we'll insert it for you. We DO read all but the longest of articles before including them, so they should be found, I'll use CygnusEd to search for the "<<" string, so if you use it, it will be found. |1-Picture/IFF submissions Although we specify an AGA machine for The Word, it's actually only for the extra processor speed that you get from the 020 processor, and not the AGA chipset (Although the AGA extension is out now so this may change in the future), and so any IFF adverts that you send should be done in Original Chipset mode, or NON-AGA if you prefer. Please don't send Interlaced or Overscan images either, as the former sometimes crashes the picture routine, and the latter is a bugger to display properly, and I can't be bothered, so there. |1-Music Modules Standard Soundtracker or Med format please (Med's will converted to ST) and with no fancy timing tricks or anything like that... We need two modules for each issue of The Word. |1-Loading Pics Two loading pics are also needed for every issue, again they should be NON-AGA, Original Chipset images, preferable either arty or pooting orientated, you get the drift eh?
