|2-Papers Say...

Not  that we like to brag or anything, well, not much, oh go on then, we
LOVE  to show off, hence all the groovy effects and stuff, we just can't
bloody  help ourselves!  Anyway, the paper-mags (at upwards of four quid
a  throw, and STILL not as many articles as TW!) have been jolly nice to
us and given the mag some rather spiffing reviews:

|1-Issue 5:



First  (I  think) to use the spiffing new engine that you see before you
today, it grabbed the attention of the papermags simply because it stood
out  a  mile, even if the interface was buggy.  Amiga User International
and  Amiga  Computing both described the magazine as "Well Worth a Look"
with  appreciative  comments regarding the presentation and wide-ranging
contents,  listing  several  daft  articles  (remember  "13  Movies with
Armadillos  in  them"  or  the classic "Pre-pubescent Irradiated Jujitsu
Wildebeast" anyone ?) and giving lovely scores too.

|1-Issue 6:



AUI's  first (and last) five words were music to the ears of all of "The
Word" staff:  "Now this is the business" they said, and promptly went on
to  mention  the  now  rather-well-known  smooth  scrolling and animated
backgrounds, sprites and whatnot.

AUI  ended with "The Word is very cool stuff and highly recommended", so
there,  I'll  send  them a Christmas Card, maybe.  Thankfully they never
noticed  that  issue 6 was actually the same as issue five but with more
cacky internet articles in it and no graphical improvements.

|1-Issue 7:



The first issue on two disks with another nice pretty bit of coding, the
bit  that  prompts  you  to  insert  a disk.  Well *I* think it's pretty
anyway, and just LOOK at the size of those COGS!  Amiga computing didn't
say anything bad about the mag, but oddly enough their rating dropped!
Amiga Shopper - a mag known for disliking diskmags (as their reviews of
others in the same issue clearly shows) - absolutely loved it!  Some
confusion over the A1200xl was mentioned in the AC review, someone there
got the impression we thought it was a new Amiga from Amiga Technologies
when in fact it is an accelerator for the A1200.
