#2  6:35 EDT. Just had a call from CEI
re  latest  Alex call. Today's session
turned    strange.   Several   parties
offered  bids  in  excess  of  the  $5
million   ESCOM   bid.  Those  parties
included  CEI  and ...DELL COMPUTERS !
The  liquidators rejected those higher
bids  and ACCEPTED the ESCOM bid of $5
million. We have no explanation of why
the  higher  bids were rejected (some-
thing about conditions) as that seemed
to  be  the purpose of allowing others
to  better  the ESCOM price at today's
event. So, it goes to Bankruptcy Court
tomorrow  as  scheduled with ESCOM the
apparent   winner.   But  all  is  not
over..."Issues"    will    be   raised
tomorrow,  and  suits are being filed.
Fireworks, in other words!

Alex  Amor  has informed his people at
CEI  that  he  will be in meetings all
night  tonight  and they do not expect
further  word from him until tomorrow,
possibly  not  until  after the formal
court   proceedings.   If   there   is
anything  new  this  evening,  I  will
receive a report from Dave. I told you
all  to be prepared for a strange turn
of  events!  Dell, of all people, deep
pockets out the "woodwork". Stay tuned

Well Folks,

I  spent  the  hours  from  10AM until
around  1PM  today  hanging around the
lobby  outside  the  auction  room  at
Fulbright  &  Jaworski.  By the time I
had  to  leave  to get back to my life
I'd  had  a  chance to catch Alex Amor
and  David  Pleasance for a few words,
but    nothing   had   actually   been
concluded.

Just  before  the  auction  began, the
legal  eagles  relented  and  let  Dan
Stets  of  the  Philadelphia Enquirer,
who  has been following this story all
along,  into  the auction room. I just
spoke  to  Dan at his hotel room where
he  was  just  finishing his story for
tomorrow's edition. If you really want
the  details  that's where you'll find
them.

In  a nutshell, despite two other bids
being  presented,  the previous bid of
ESCOM,    the    German    Electronics
distributor, was allowed to stand. CEI
had  allied  itself with Dell Computer
(really!),  but  they  had placed some
kind  of  condition  on their bid that
led the auctioneer to disqualify them.
CEI  seemed  quite  unhappy about this
and,   I  expect,  will  protest  this
tomorrow  before the bankruptcy judge.
Commodore UK did not bid but there was
also  a  third new bidder, but I never
found out who they were.

I   will   try   to  go  down  to  the
Bankruptcy  Court  in  the morning. It
seems  that either they will allow the
present  deal  to  go through, or they
will  look  over  the disqualified bid
and  either  reinstate  it  or ask the
parties   to  jump  through  some  new
hoops. All in all, I'm afraid its more
of   the  same.  Nevertheless,  things
could  wash  differently  tomorrow.  I
hope  I will have a chance to check it
out and report again.

Apparently   Dell  was  interested  in
patents.   Their   bid   was  rejected
because  they  wanted to delay so they
could  examine patents in more detail.
The court apparently rejected this.
