|1-Reply from Telescan... You gave me the option for the right to reply, so here it is. This time though I have sent it on disk, so at least it will save you forgetting to use a spell checker. 1. DECK`S LETTER OK let`s talk about untruths shall we? Rang me three times? Total rubbish! Deck has phoned me only twice in three years. The last time was as I stated in my previous letter about selling the hacked 2 disk version of Bodyshop 8 (still being sold I see from some PD adverts). The time before was two to three years ago to moan (which he seems to do a lot by the way) about not receiving 15 to 20 PD disks in return for some he sent. We did trade disks at that time. My disks were sent, but apparently to a PO Box No that had been shut down due to a F.A.S.T. raid on NFA when lots of equipment was confiscated. Remember, Deck? I saw him just after at the All Format`s Fair where he was joking about it (he had a sense of humour then). I have spoken to him on the phone over the Bodyshop 8 Saga after his last call, but I phoned HIM. I have never, ever said "I'll get round to it" let alone keep saying it. More rubbish. ^6^^70 I am NOT selling NFA disks in my library. If someone knows of a title I sell that is connected to NFA in anyway then please let me know. Deck still received KAO branded disks from me at the All Format`s Fair in Birmingham. He knows it and I know it. I gave them in appreciation for disks in the past. I remember the look of surprise from him when I did so. He will probably deny it now, but it is TRUE. Now Vince. Deck stated I had "a private arrangement with a bloke called Vince nothing to do with the group" Now there's an interesting statement. Vince was a member of NFA at the time I was dealing with him. He was producing disks, slideshows etc connected with NFA, Nursery Rhymes 1 & 2 AGA, Wild Life AGA etc. These did have NFA on the disks and the PO Box Campbell St address on the scroller. Was he doing this on his own without permission from NFA? I don't think so. Yes I did have bad dealings with him though it`s true over disks and money and as far as I`m concerned I was dealing with NFA, it`s easy to say it was a "private arrangement" after the fact. "Had similar problems with another group but can`t place who it was" Very convenient, if he remembers he knows where I am. As far as being "a tight old bugger", well that`s his personal opinion, and by now you should know my view on his opinions. 2. FREAK`S SUMMARY "If someone took advantage of these "free disks", why were they still handed out?" ^10^40 Why? Just because an individual rips you off, do you tar everyone with the same brush? You might, but I don't. As I have stated before I have been connected with the Amiga and PD scene for several years and have met many villains and the like. I supplied one PD firm with 200 PD disks on a friendly agreement and haven't heard from them since. This happens a lot in this scene as many users know. It`s just one of those things. But there are many decent PD houses, groups and users who don`t abuse and these make up for it. How can I sell something I haven't checked? I did and have, this is bad I agree. I don't check all the disks personally as I am not the only staff, but I am not offering excuses, you are right to criticise this point and I concede this. I was wrong. I spoke the truth about the letter. Never seen it. Should have been followed up by a phone call, from Freak who I presumed sent it. * TIP - Don't delegate to minor moronic individuals who have had in the past a highly successful frontal lobotomy. As you can see, it can cause problems. "Don't think he would junk a whole line as not making economic sense" Wrong. I have done. Don't flatter yourself too much as they don`t sell all that well lately. In the past yes but not recently. Best selling slide disks at the moment are the "Starkers" series of glamour slideshows, closely followed by the superb "Calendar Girls" disks, which are all original flatbed scans and not taken from CD's or BBS's as are the Bodyshop series. So there you have it, my response. No doubt interesting reading as you say for your readers, as well as mine in Scanner. Have a nice day. |1-Norman/Telescan
